The first shot filmed was the tilt & pan from the fireplace to Gray and Skylar in the café; The last shot filmed was Gray running up the grassy hill toward the bridge. The running scenes were filmed more or less sequentially; as a result, you can see Phillip Pruitt struggling a bit as he nears the bridge as he'd been running much of the last hour.
The pan/tilt shot across the bridge that opens the final scene was not planned. An unexpected and unique cloud formation was too interesting to pass up, so Director of Photography Meghann Sumner shot some extra footage of it; this footage wound up in the final film.
Diana Chiritescu was the very first person to audition for the film. Phillip Clark Pruitt was the very last.
When the role of Sully was switched from a male friend of Gray's to a female friend with an unrequited love for him, it was rewritten with Amory Casto in mind. Amory had previously played the role of Marilys Oates in The Jaunt, also made by Bad Trip Productions.
Phillip Clark Pruitt had been unable to attend every audition held for the film, but remained in close contact with the production crew. When Smith wasn't satisfied with the actors he'd seen for Gray, he pushed casting another week and invited Pruitt down from Winston-Salem to audition. Pruitt performed the audition in Smith's living room.
