Kate's storyline perks up a bit from the clichés of the previous episode.Candace is still a fairly two-dimensional baddie with a rather simplistic motivation("I want to be the lead")but she's well-acted and kept enough in the background that it doesn't matter. The focus is rightly on Kate's relationship with her family and with Declan, especially the latter as they get some very touching moments that demonstrate just how he feels about her.Their little awkwardness when they hold hands for just too long works well.
Andrew continues to have to deal with being the talk of the school while Donna continues to be nowhere to be seen, except on the end of a webcam. He tries to get around this by giving Harry some guidance, which sort of backfires but certainly wins him a fan in Sophie, who is definitely shaping up to be one of the best additions to the show in recent years.
