A Bit Slow Moving, But A Cute Payoff
KingClay5719 March 2010
"Why I Fired My Secretary" is a cute (no other way to put it) short comedy about the birthday celebration...or lack thereof of average Joe Bill Withers (appealingly played by Timothy J. Cox).

It seems that everyone from Bill's family to his closest friends has forgotten his birthday, except Bill's loyal secretary Jane (a spunky Tara Picolo). To brighten his spirits, Jane decides to take Bill out for a nice lunch, but has another surprise in store for him and boy is it a surprise! Director Harris Masood's short could have moved along at a quicker pace and I would have loved more dialog in the scenes, rather than the entire film being delivered in voice over by Cox. Not that the voice over was bad...Cox's wry delivery certainly didn't hurt the picture, but if Masood had used a combination of voice over and dialog, it would have helped the film greatly.

The payoff at the end of the film is worthy of a chuckle.
