It was the first television production developed in Colombia in such epic proportions, using more than seventy well-known actors in starring and supporting roles, and more than four thousand extras.
In honor of the bicentennial celebration of Independence in Colombia, this mini-series has been distributed for free on DVD in public schools in the country.
In order to revive the environment of the City of Santa Fe (now Bogota) of 17th and 18th centuries, an entire town (Barichara, Santander) was transformed, all electricity and telephone poles located in the main square were moved. A false mule track over streets paved with asphalt were created. Also was required to temporarily remove the whole lighting system and audio system of a colonial church.
Because of the project's importance for Colombia, this miniseries was funded by both the government and private enterprise.
