Amazing adaptation for western audiences
timotheywood17 March 2024
The Nelvana dubbed Cardcaptors was my introduction to anime as a young boy and my earliest obsession into fantasy and magic. Many of the original fans of the Japanese version will trash it in comparison but for western audiences its alot more appealing. Names like Tomoyo have a more traditional American names like Madison, which makes the characters more relatable. The music is also darker which gives the series a more sinister and action feel to it. While a lot has been cut to fit American audiences, the general themes of love and friendship still remains intact while providing a fun and exciting fantasy adventure. I adore this series and will recommend this to anyone who enjoys animation and magic.

Butchered version :(

As a fan of anime I really loved the progressive worldview that this anime/manga showed at the end of the last century. It helped me to understand myself and that I was "normal". This version is missing all the educational material and depth, which makes Japanese and other east Asian anime so worth watching. Especially at an early age (8+). I am showing the original version to my children through a streaming service and they are getting it!
