Chris Coelen's recently launched Kinetic Content has inked its first major content deal, partnering with Dutch distributor of unscripted formats Absolutely Independent, whose catalogue of formats includes "Find My Family," "The Singing Office" and "The Phone."
Under the pact, Kinetic will have a first-look at all Absolutely formats for the U.S., with the Dutch company retaining global distribution rights.
Kinetic and Absolutely will also work together to develop formats for sale to broadcasters worldwide.
Absolutely has had a long-time relationship with Coelen, dating back to his time as a reality agent at UTA.
Most recently, as CEO of Rdf USA, Coelen worked with Kinetic on "Find My Family," which Rdf produced as a series for ABC.

CBS is getting into the culinary reality genre with a new show that pits professional chefs against ordinary home cooks.
The network has ordered "Beat the Chefs" from Relativity Real, with Tom Forman ("Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," "Find My Family") attached as executive producer.
In the show, talented amateurs with a staff of family and friends cook their classic family recipe as top chefs make their own versions of the same dish. Judges will decide who did the best job for a cash prize.
The pilot could give CBS its first entry in the popular cooking reality genre.
Even with the success of such shows as Fox's "Hell's Kitchen" and "Kitchen Nightmares" and Bravo's "Top Chef" leading the cable entries, broadcast networks have more culinary projects in the oven. NBC is readying "America's Next Great Restaurant," and Fox is prepping "MasterChef."...

Veteran British TV executive Grant Mansfield has been named CEO of RDF Media USA.
He replaces Chris Coelen, who exited in December after four years.
Mansfield, who has been with RDF in the U.K. for the past seven years, will move to Los Angeles, working out of RDF USA's main stateside office. He starts this month.
In addition to his new responsibilities at Rdf USA, Mansfield will continue as RDF's group director of factual, entertainment and comedy -- a post to which he was recently promoted -- working with U.K. broadcasters.
"Grant brings an immense amount of experience to our U.S. business at a very important time," Rdf Media Group CEO David Frank said. "The U.S. remains a top priority for us as a group, and I believe this appointment will help us build on the considerable successes we've had in the world's most valuable TV market.

RDF Media USA CEO Chris Coelen is leaving the company after four years.
The news was announced internally Thursday morning.
Coelen's exit comes as a surprise since he helped build Rdf's U.S. outpost into a formidable supplier for the past four years.
He had significantly expanded operations with a string of hires of senior executives over the past year, most recently leading ITV entertainment executive Natalka Znak, the co-creator and executive producer of ITV1 reality hits "Hell's Kitchen" and "I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!" whose appointment as executive vp at RDF USA was announced Thursday morning, hours before Coelen's resignation.
Under Coelen, RDF Media USA, the company behind ABC's veteran "Wife Swap," has produced such reality series as "Secret Millionaire" and "Don't Forget the Lyrics" for Fox, "Find My Family" for ABC, as well as cable shows "Addicted to Beauty," "How to Look Good Naked" and...

ABC quietly unveiled a new reality series on Tuesday night. Like the network's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition series, Find My Family had audience members reaching for the tissues by the box. But, more importantly for the show's future, how did it do in the ratings?
Hosted by Tim Green and Lisa Joyner, Find My Family helps people reconnect with family members after being separated for many years. The emotional reunions take place on-camera and in front of a place known as the "Family Tree."
Following the performance finale of Dancing with the Stars, the premiere of Family attracted 12.76 million viewers and a 2.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic. Those numbers look okay on their own but its significant that the series lost about 40% of its lead-in audience. ABC can't be happy about that.
The real test will be...
