- At Sophie's apartment, Sophie and Alice are watching a movie on TV, as Sophie watches over Alice. They hear someone outside, both grab wine bottles, and go to the balcony where the noise is coming from. They open the curtains and find Batwoman there, and the heroine says that she's there for Alice. Batwoman says that Renee intercepted a 911 call about a lead with one of the rogue weapons.
They go to the location, an auto shop, and find a dead man tied up. He's naked except for underwear, gloves, and a lei. Batwoman figures that they'd better hurry up before the GCPD gets there, and she tells Alice that Renee figures the culprit used one of Catwoman's bullwhips. There's a whip there, but Batwoman figures that it isn't Catwoman's. Alice says that it's fine as long as Renee thinks it is, but Batwoman isn't convinced.
Batwoman checks with the Batcave computer and confirms that Catwoman wove nanotech into her whip, making it indestructible. The heroine points out that the whip is coming apart, and she'll have Mary have the body transported to her clinic. Alice will figure out who the killer is, while Batwoman goes to see Jada.
The next day at the office At Wayne Enterprises, Ryan is on the call dealing with nervous stockholders. Luke reports that WE stock is down and continuing down, and Ryan says that she'll fix it. Mary comes in and says that Ryan threw away Jada's dinner party invitation. When Mary wonders why Jada would think Ryan would accept her dinner invitation, Ryan says that they'll find out. Mary is surprised that Ryan is going, and Ryan points out that Alice found evidence linking Jeturian to Black Glove.
Mary points out that Alice is hallucinating, and Ryan says that they need to find something to hold over Jada's head to match what she has over Ryan's. Despite that, Mary warns that Jada could uncover Ryan's secret identity just like she uncovered Bruce's hidden bank accounts. Ryan says that she has to be careful, which is why she's taking back-up.
Sophie is Ryan's date backup, and she insists to Alice that it's not a date but recon. Sophie blames Alice for telling Ryan that Jada is her birth mother. Alice points out that she hasn't had hallucinations for three days. Alice's cell phone rings as Renee calls her, and Sophie checks it and discovers that it has a message telling Alice to get to her office.
Later, Ryan and Sophie arrive at Jada's manor. The women turn the butler's offer of a drink, and Sophie warns Ryan that the whole thing is an intimidation move by Jada to get into Ryan's head. Jada joins them and Sophie introduces herself. Jada dismisses Damien, the butler, telling him to tell the cook that they have one more for dinner.
Damien goes to the kitchen and relay the news to the cook, then leaves. The cook checks out a stuffed pig and strokes it, then cuts off is head and says that it's time for the professor to teach the class how to squeal.
Jada takes the two women to her living room and asks how the two women met. They talk about how they first met, and Ryan figures that Sophie saw her at her worst and still loves her. She says that if she was dying, she knows Sophie would be there with her arms around her.
Sophie goes to the bathroom, and Ryan asks Jada why she's there. Jada says that whatever is going on between Ryan and Marquis needs to stop. She tells Ryan to get Sophie to leave so they can get real, and if Ryan doesn't do what she says, Ryan and a lot of people will die. Marquis comes in with a girl, and says that he heard there was a family dinner.
Sophie finds Jada's study, and goes to her desk while communicating with Luke. Luke confirms that the bug Sophie has planted is working, and tells her to get out. Sophie goes through Jada's desk and finds a photo of a younger Jada and a teenage Marquis, with a man cut out of the picture. She sends the photo to Luke via her camera, and the signal cuts out. As Sophie starts to leave, Jada comes in and Sophie claims that she got lost.
Marquis talks to Ryan privately and complains that she's there. Ryan says that Jada already knows about their partnership. Jada comes in and says that they should go to the dining room before any more guests arrive.
At Renee's office, Renee tells Alice to go over the files and find out which criminal was responsible for the murder. Alice goes to work and finds a classified file about Poison Ivy. She calls Renee on it, pointing out that the file is larger than the others. Alice figures that Renee brought her and Ryan together to find Poison Ivy.
Everyone eats, and nobody wants to touch the suckling pig. The chef come out and offers more wine to "enhance the experience", and Jada says that he was flown in from Metropolis and comes highly recommended. Marquis's date, Zoey, analyzes the family dynamics going on. Marquis mentions backstabbing sisters, and Zoey excuses herself. Ryan figures that Jada is trying to divide her and Marquis, and Jada says that that she caught Sophie going through her study.
Ryan "thanks" Jada for giving her up and walking away. She tells her birth mother that she got a home, love, and a real mother. With that, Ryan takes a drink of wine.
In the bathroom, Zoey throws up from the mix of alcohol and family drama, then realizes that she can't feel anything. She tries to turn on the faucet to splash water on her face but can't because her arms are numb. Then she screams as the cook, wearing a pig mask, comes in and hacks Zoey to pieces with a cleaver.
Marquis gets up and offers a toast to family and loyalty. Ryan smiles at him, and then they all become paralyzed. The chef comes in, still wearing his pig mask, and tells Jada that his name is Lazlo Valentine and she fired him when he was a chef at her office. Jada remembers his name, and Lazlo rants about how his wife divorced him after he lost his job and couldn't get another because Jada blackballed him. Marquis tells Lazlo that it was just business, and Lazlo says that he lost his family because of Jada, so he's going to make her lose hers.
Jada realizes Lazlo told Marquis about the dinner, and Lazlo admits that he did so he could kill Marquis in front of her but Ryan is an unexpected surprise. Ryan manages to grab a carving knife and stab Lazlo in the leg, then she gets up and tries to move Marquis out. Marquis says that he can't move and Zoe is upstairs, and Ryan goes to find the girl while Sophie says that she'll help. She gets Jada and Marquis out while Lazlo moans in pain.
Ryan goes upstairs and finds Zoe's corpse in the bathroom.
Lazlo pulls the knife out of his leg.
The others get to the front door and realize that Lazlo locked it and the other doors from the outside. Sophie and Marquis try to call out but discover their phones have no service, as Ryan joins them. Jada tells them to follow her upstairs, and Marquis tells them to go without him. Ryan and Sophie insists on helping him, and they head upstairs. Lazlo arrives and grabs Sophie's leg. She kicks free and Ryan hits Lazlo with a sculpture.
Jada takes them to a room and triggers a hidden door for her panic room. They get inside, Ryan last as Lazlo arrives just as Ryan closes the door behind her.
Inside the panic room, Ryan turns on a monitor showing Lazlo outside, vowing to kill them and then running off. Ryan tells the others that Zoe is dead and Lazlo isn't leaving until they're dead. Sophie figures that Lazlo activated a signal blocker, and Jada admits that she doesn't believe in guns. Ryan figures that someone will realize that they're missing and call for help. Marquis goes into convulsions and Jada goes to him.
Renee tells Alice that she and Pamela--Poison-met at Gotham U and couldn't see a future without each other. One night a fellow student who was conducting obsessive experiments kidnapped Pam and used her as a guinea pig. The student was Paul LeGrand, and he injected Pam with a mix of plant-based poison. The substances transformed her, and she wanted to save the planet and punish anyone destroying it. Pam went to reckless and irrational overnight, and she and Renee broke up. Renee didn't know how to save Pam, and doesn't know where she is now. Alice figures that Poison Ivy is hiding beneath the city somewhere where Batman buried her, and Renee admits that she told him to.
Alice hallucinates one of Jacob's postcards in the file. When Renee asks what she's seeing, Alice dismisses it as nothing and quickly leaves to consult with Mary.
Sophie figures that since Marquis drank the most wine, the poison in it is hitting him first but it will eventually catch up to all of them. They look for adrenaline to revive Marquis, and Jada says that her husband has epipens for his allergies in their camping gear in the basements. The only way to the basement is through the kitchen where they can see Lazlo building a bomb. Ryan tells Jada that she'll need her help.
Ryan leaves the panic room and heads down the stairs. Jada calls to Lazlo, saying that she's sorry and they should talk money. He realizes that Jada is speaking through an intercom, while Ryan gets to the kitchen and grabs a cutting knife. She knocks over some pans, alerting Lazlo, who comes back to the kitchen. She ducks behind a counter, but Lazlo grabs a knife and attacks her. Ryan blocks Lazlo's knife thrust with a serving platter and then hits him in his wounded leg, runs down into the basement, and locks the door behind her.
Sophie is watching on the panic room monitor, and tells Jada that Ryan made it. Jada asks if Sophie is really Ryan's girlfriend or if that was a lie. Sophie says that she's Jordan's sister, and Jada's men abducted Jordan and injected her with freeze serum. Jada has no idea what Sophie is talking about, and then says that she had nothing to do with what happened to Jordan and she's not the monster Sophie has made her out to be. She then begs the unconscious Marquis to hang on, and his mother is there.
Ryan gets further down into the basement, and finds the camping gear on a high shelf. While Lazlo hacks his way through the door, the partially paralyzed Ryan tries to climb up the shelf but it falls over on her. She manages to grab the epipens as Lazlo breaks down the door. He comes down and stands over Ryan,
Alice goes to the clinic and finds Mary examining the body. Mary has found motorcycle grease beneath the victim's fingernails, and a similar but not exact synthetic on the bullwhip. Alice is more interested in the plants that Mary is growing, and Mary says that she duplicated plants' "antifreeze", and starts ranting about the value of plants. Alice doesn't want to hear it, and says that it's time for her meds. Mary realizes the delusions back, and Alice says that she thought the asylum was making her delusional. The doctor tells Alice that all of the pain and misery that she's inflicted are causing her delusions, and goes to get Alice's meds.
Alice notices that Mary is itching at her arm and asks her where she got the rash. Mary points out a vine she's experimenting with that she found in Gotham Park. Alice realizes that it's poison ivy.
Lazlo carries Ryan upstairs, and tells the others through the camera to let him in. Jada says that if she opens the door, she's as good as dead. Lazlo storms off and drops Ryan on a bed, while Jada looks at her dying son.
After dumping the paralyzed Ryan on a bed, Lazlo asks her how Jada will treat someone she sees as a threat, when she fired him for trying to impress her. As he prepares to kill Ryan, Jada comes in and tells Lazlo to get away from her daughter, and tells Lazlo to take her instead. He tells Jada that her lesson is that perfection comes with a price.
Ryan injects herself with the epipen, and the adrenaline lets her move. Sophie grabs two more epipens and injects herself and Marquis with them. Meanwhile, Lazlo throws a cleaver at Jada, and Ryan shoves Jada out of the way to the floor. They briefly look at each other, and then Lazlo renews his attack. He grabs his cleaver and prepares to kill them, but then Marquis stabs him from behind. When Lazlo is down, Marquis hacks at him while Jada screams in terror. Once he's done, Marquis looks at his blood-covered hands in shock.
Alice goes to Renee's office and tells the officer that the bullwhip killer is Flamingo, one of Batman's villain. Renee puts out a warrant for Flamingo and Alice shows Renee that poison ivy and says that it should buy her a week's vacation in Tahiti. Renee points out that the vine is dead, and they don't die unless Ivy has infected someone else.
As the police take Lazlo's body away, Sophie tells Ryan that Jada is hiding but Sophie doesn't know what. Ryan says that Jada will tell her, and says goodbye to Sophie as she goes inside to confront Jada.
Jada is in her study and Ryan comes in. Jada has found the bug and gives it to Ryan, and says that she didn't know about Jordan or the experiments or the deaths. She says that the whole point of it was that no one gets hurts, and tries to get Ryan to promise not to tell anyone else the secret she's going to share with her. Ryan refuses until she knows what "it" is, and Jada says that Marquis is sick. She says that one day when Marquis was a child, the Joker jumped onto his school bus and took it over. He encountered Marquis, and Joker pressed his electrified "joy buzzer" against the boy's head. After that day, Marquis was darker and horrifying. She warns Ryan that sociopaths can be charming,
Jada says that she has spent million behind Marquis's back on psychologists, trying to fix him so she could have her son back. No one was able to help her, and then Jada learned of cryostasis, and thought if she could sideline Marquis for a while, it would buy her time to find a solution. Jada admits that everything she's done has been to protect Ryan, and she needs Ryan's help stopping Marquis before anyone else gets hurt.
Later at the Batcave, Ryan plays one tape from a box of them that Jada gave her. On the tape, a young Marquis says that he got a bug-collecting kit, and uses a magnifying glass and the sun to melt answers. Later, Jada tells Marquis to call and tell his father happy birthday. Marquis angrily says no. Even later on a camping trip, Franklin has an allergic reaction to the peanut butter Marquis has put on his sandwich.
Marquis goes home to his apartment and looks at his blood-covered face in a mirror. He then trails his fingers through the blood, drawing a grin on his mouth.
