"It's me. Helmut" is an 11-minute short film written and directed by Nicolas Steiner, his third work actually and he is still working in film today. The way they permanently changed the scenery was a nice little idea, but it cannot makeup for the lack of interesting story in here. Maybe they even tried to make it not so apparent by focusing on the production values, but every film needs a good story and this one really does not have one. It's quite a pity as the movie starts decently with the protagonist and his wife at the table celebrating his birthday. But then it gets worse quickly and basically becomes all style over substance. The lead actor and the actress who plays his wife are fairly prolific actors to this day. Oh yeah, it's a Swiss film, so maybe even as a German native speaker, you may need subtitles as the accents are occasionally pretty heavy. However, I was a bit disappointed with this one, especially given its high rating here on IMDb. Not recommended.
