Brilliant fast paced comedy
yufafbh30 November 2021
It's not like a typical Swiss series - and at the same time it's very Swiss indeed! Tachugger doesn't try to serve local stereotypes and also doesn't try to hide that this short series is from Switzerland. Just very refreshing with natural dialogues. I am sure this one could also be an international success in near future (of course some banters and local references are hard to translate)

Einfach super

Einfach super, aber die Untertitel solltet ihr deaktiviert lassen.

Es hat viele lustige Momente drin, die man sich im Schweizer Fernsehen nicht gewohnt ist.

Such a lovely piece of series from the swiss valley of wallis. The actors are amateurs. The plot and the setting are so much fun. I want to see more of that!!!

And i'm pretty sure even you don't understand all the small valais stereotypes of corruption, strange language... even without insider knowledge theres a lot to laugh about.

Very stylish settings meet strange humour meets trash police stuff.

simply the best

First of all: I don't know the director, the producers, the actors. But this is crazy stuff with a lot of inside-jokes. May the best series that was filmed and produced in switzerland. I am sure there will be a netflix or whatever us-remake. Better than fargo.

Legendary

Der Intro alleine hat schon Kultcharakter. Wahrscheinlich mit das beste was in der Schweiz produziert wurde.

Auf Netflix würde die Serie in kürzester Zeit zum Hit.

Very good performance - great comedy - very funny
mabuseli510 December 2022
This series is fast-paced and incredibly funny. It takes a lot for me to find something really funny. In addition, of course, there is the Valais dialect, which gives the series additional charm. And yes, the subtitles are sometimes necessary, because it's all very fast and those who aren't really used to the Valais German will have trouble. I never would have thought that Switzerland could pull off such a series. You can hardly breathe, it's so packed and the story with all its surprises is super coherent, sometimes morbid, macabre, but hilarious and it doesn't get boring for a second. Maybe the series will be dubbed into other languages (German!), although of course something will be lost then, the Valais language is such a hit. The actors are simply stunning, top performance! Hey Switzerland: Great job!

Would never have believed that I say this about a swiss production - but just great

After a long time back and forth, I (a Swiss) let myself be persuaded for the first time to watch a Swiss series production. Still a bit skeptical, I started the first episode and had to admit after 2 minutes that this series is terrific.

I haven't seen the season finale yet, but I'm convinced that it won't disappoint me.

One of the best Swiss TV productions/series ever - Fargo meets Switzerland
helloamazon15 December 2022
"Tschugger" (both a dialect and light swear word for "policemen" in the rural Swiss canton of Valais) worked great for Swiss audiences and it will probably work great internationally - even if some local nuances and in-jokes regarding Valais (where the entire series was filmed on location) will get lost in translation.

Great actors (some of them are laymen, not even professional actors!), great overarching and fast-paced plot with many sudden twists and turns.

Regular moviegoers will spot lots of influences from (cop) movies and TV series like...

  • Fargo (not just because there is plenty of snow in both the Fargo and Tschugger settings, probably the most direct association)
  • Super Troopers (as well as earlier cop movies/series such as Starsky & Hutch, Miami Vice or Beverly Hills Cop)
  • Braunschlag (2012, Austrian TV series)
  • Headhunters (2011, the very good Norwegian thriller) or
  • Crimson Rivers II: Angels of the Apocalypse (but "Tschugger" isn't nearly as dark and somber as the Crimson Rivers sequel and has more comedic elements).

The only major downside in my opinion? Season two (both seasons only feature five episodes each) goes a bit overboard towards the action-packed finale compared to all the earlier episodes - but that's only a minor minus overall.

Give Tschugger a try, it truly deserves a broader international audience and distribution.

Certainly the best and funniest Swiss TV series in years, if not decades, in my opinion.

9/10 (one point deduction for the over-the-top finale).

Swiss comedy cops at their best
alexlitta-4314124 January 2023
Oh wow, the Swiss CAN be funny!

I was intrigued by this series being described to me as "The Swiss version of Brooklyn 99" but I must say, this is even better. Very well written, with a mix of comedy, suspence, just enough gore to make it interesting, and some sweets moments too. I love that it is set in a very small, very local part of Switzerland (the canton Valais) and it has many silly inside jokes that the Swiss will get but will make other viewers laugh, too.

I love the fact that it doesn't take itself too seriously while simultaneously providing top quality entertainment.

The language is so local that even German-speaking people will need subtitles, but in exchange you will learn some amazing new idioms that you can use to impress your friends!

The retro feeling of the titles is so cool, and the theme tune is extra catchy!

Kudos to the amazing David Constantin who wrote, directed and starred in it.

Fails by checking all the hallmarks
efrog-6107913 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
It has all the hallmarks checked for a typical patchwork film production. I can vividly imagine the writer sitting at his desk brainstorming the list of action points of his soon to be flick. Let us see whether he checked all the boxes: lots of drugs, sex (not too much, we are still swiss after all..), some rock n' roll, drones, swiss special forces (to please the military crowd), lots of Guns (preferably the big ones), terminator-style self-treatment of bullet wound, copious references to local cervelat-celebrities, reference to the local capo (aka chief of state aka the 'Bundesrat'), crazy secret cults with robed and masked figures, making fun of yoga-culture, nazism, social media, cars (sports cars preferably), drowning in faeces, making fun of people with speech defect, explosions, hacking, homosexuality, martial arts scene.

Quite a list. Now the whole art consists in thinking up a half-baked story that connects all of these bullet points. Stir it three times. Done!

What I personally missed was at least one little scene depicting a high speed skiing chase in the swiss alps and - zombies (do they finally get out of fashion?).

Fresh. Different. Fun
tcmekanik18 September 2023
I watched season 1 without any expectations but was greatly surprised how well it was written, acted and produced. Then I went for season 2 and was blown away. It was much more mature, had great visuals and the humour simply was fantastic. But besides all the fun stuff there were also the serious parts which I absolutely didn't anticipated.

David Constatin (Bax) has a great sense of humour and understands how to reach out to the rest of the nation although using native Canton Valais language (accent), local traditions and mindset.

At the same time though this makes "Tschugger" which stands for Cop/Police a Swiss series for Swiss people only. Because as soon as you dub this into another language it loses 80% of it's humour. This is not meant as cirtique, it's just what it is.

Also, congrats to Dragan (Pirmin) and the rest of the cast and crew who simply did a stunning job. I so enjoyed Tschugger and can't wait for season 3.

Chillwave Bax.

A hidden gem
smetterling8 June 2023
Tschugger is the best Swiss TV show that I have ever seen. Which might also be due to the fact that I have never seen any other Swiss shows before.

But seriously, it's a very good show.

A lovely mix of crime and comedy, shot and edited in a unique manner. It's not very complicated or deep, but it is a lot of fun.

The actors are all very good and there are some really great characters in this show. My personal favourite is "Smetterling" the nerdy police apprentice.

"Tschugger" is at it's best, whent it makes fun of itself and the characters, which is most of the time. The more serious parts can be a bit cliché, but it is definitely a show worth watching in my opinion.

The story is finished after season two, the episodes are about 25 minutes in length. I wouldn't mind seeing more from the creators of this show, I will definitely keep an eye out.
