The tattoo machine used in the tattoo scene was put together by the producer/director just a few minutes before the shooting using a screwdriver, some extra screwdriver bits and a piece of duct tape. The real tattoo artist who refused to let the actor use his real tattoo machine was genuinely surprised by the ingenuity of the faked one after seeing it. Unfortunately, due to time limitation, the shot that has the tattoo machine in it was later dropped.
The producer/director went through nearly every single tattoo parlor on or near Granville Street in downtown Vancouver and got the permission from only one. Due to the shoestring budget of this short film, the producer/director offered two cases of beer to the owner for the 20 minutes he was allowed to shoot in there.
The producer/director used his own apartment for this project a couple times during the preproduction and shooting. First, it was stripped down to work as the audition studio; then it was all dressed up as Dela's home where the sex cult scene takes place.
