An entertaining thriller complex enough to make you guess
mecheart6 July 2013
Warning: Spoilers
The story of 'Rushlights' is driven by a script that depends on its characters to bring it to life and on its actors to trigger excitement, suspense and intrigue in the viewer. Fortunately, all elements necessary to these ends come together as needed and on time. That means the audience is treated to great performances from Aidan Quinn, Beau Bridges and a surprisingly effective Crispian Belfrage as a villain who gets under your skin and remains there until the climax.

What good is a thriller without suspense? In 'Rushlights' that aspect is built and established on the meeting and subsequent rapid fire romance of characters Billy and Sarah who take flight together away from their mundane lives after a tragedy that threatens to shatter her seemingly quiet life.

Right away I found myself rooting for Sarah and Billy, hoping they would find a better world somewhere down the endless interstate of the chaos of their world. An unexpected discovery sends them barreling for a far away place they've never been to consummate a high risk proposition that could either set them up for the rest of their lives or end them somewhere on the dark, dusty plains.

Enter Bridges and Quinn - brothers who reside in a small dust bowl of a town that has never welcomed strangers, and isn't about to start. One is a straight laced sheriff, the other a lawyer who seems a little too helpful.

After not quite riding away into the sunset Sarah and Billy roll into the same small town and while they think their ship is about to come in, the only thing that washes up is trouble and hell.

The film burns slowly for most of the way and that suits its script and pacing quite well. 'Rushlights' is a hot, sweaty, hopeful, disappointed and dusty thriller about a handful of people who never would have come together - never should have for that matter. Because when they do not everyone will survive their meet-up in one piece.

I will subtract one point only for a questionable twist that comes very late in the film, a twist I found difficult to swallow as no hints to its arrival were provided in the earlier acts and despite its resolution at the last moment, threatened to leave me with an overall bad taste for the film.

If you're looking for some decent suspense to tide you over, and most definitely if you are a fan of Quinn or Bridges, check this one out. 'Rushlights' is a nice find for movie night with friends.

Wrong Car Name!
tasveer-singh28 October 2013
As the owner of a Ford Ranchero, I always get excited whenever I see a Ford Ranchero in a movie, therefore, I got all excited when the blue 1973 Ford Ranchero first showed up in this movie. In real life, Ford Ranchero owners do not appreciate their vehicles being called an El Camino. Not that we have anything against the Chevrolet El Camino, we just feel that people need to know better, especially if you have one in a movie. The '73 Ranchero in this movie repeatedly gets called a '67 El Camino. That really upset me, especially since it was the most talked about vehicle in the movie. Anybody's defense cannot be that it looks like an El Camino, because El Caminos look like Ranchero. The Ranchero was introduced in 1957 whereas the El Camino wasn't made until 1959. I understand that the story doesn't really have anything to do with cars, but they need to get these simple facts straight.

Mediocre movie with lot of coincidences
peterp-450-29871612 February 2014
Warning: Spoilers
"Rush Lights" is a mediocre movie and for once the design and interpretation are not really the weak point. The storyline however is terribly simplistic and looks like a regular TV series. Often it seemed like I was watching an old episode of "Matlock" or "Columbus" cause it was so average and uninspiring almost during the whole movie. Then the unbelievable coincidences started to appear at a furious pace. I was just waiting for the next nonsense that they came up with.

The performances and the displayed images need no criticism. The town Tremo is a small village in the middle of nowhere in Texas. It's a dusty place and it seems as if time stood still there. You can still look at the horizon while standing somewhere on a hill and when you're standing at the wrong place where at that moment an old Buick or Cadillac is speeding away, you can be sure that weeks later the sand is still gritting your teeth. So visually it looks acceptable.

The fact that they managed to incorporate Beau Bridges and Aidan Quinn is a positive thing. There is no doubt about the experience that both gentlemen have, given their huge list of films on their resumé. They are also the only two compelling actors and stand their ground in this crooked story. Josh Henderson as "Bill" isn't out of place in this movie. As I said earlier, it looks more like an episode of some TV series. And that's exactly the kind of thing he has a lot of experience in. Usually, his acting was fine but at times it was quite hesitant and faintly. Haley Webb acting as "Sarah" didn't thrill me that much. She looks absolutely stunning (besides the fact that she has such a weird crooked smile sometimes) but sometimes has a tendency to over-act. Despite their limited experience in feature films, they do ensure that their characters look credible.

Where does this movie actually fail? It's the storyline, the conduct and that stupid ending that screws up the overwhelmingly positive feeling I had about this movie. The initial setup is actually average. Billy and Sarah meet and start a relationship. It goes terribly wrong when a friend of Sarah dies from an overdose. It's a bizarre coincidence they look like twins and Billy comes with the brilliant idea to use that benefit and cash an inheritance of the deceased. After arriving in Tremo it turns out this is not so easy and some secrets from the past start to reveal themselves. And from then on it's just a series of astonishing facts.

*** SPOILER ALERT***

Lets start with a little summary of some ridiculous things : - To receive a plain simple package here in Belgium I need to show my ID. So I'm pretty sure there is a bit more needed concerning an inheritance then just a quick check of the ID by a lawyer. And especially when it comes to an inheritance involving a significant value of real estate. - The family lawyer turns out to be closer to the family than he expected. Ignorant as he was in all those years, he can understand the whole thing by simply reading a letter from the deceased rich man and recognizing the handwriting of his mother. And in a magical moment the plot is very very clear to him. - While Sarah and Billy are passionately kissing, a shotgun falls down on the floor, goes off and miraculously hits an unknown person standing behind the window. - A burglar loses in a clumsy way a DVD with compromising material on it. The recordings show that the rich guy had some kind of gay relationship with his bastard son (This part wasn't made that clear in the movie) - Billy is looking in the yellow pages for another lawyer for a consultation. Turns out to be the lawyer the rich guy visited to change his will. What a coincidence. - A dealer is chasing the two lovebirds to collect his money. At first he kind of get killed. I was sure about that after seeing the cloth he's wrapped in, completely soaked with blood. He's thrown in the trunk of the car and then still appears at the end to claim once again his money. But then the unfortunate fellow suffers a heart attack. Isn't life a bitch ?

Probably there are even more of those facts that can be added to the list. So concerning the content it feels a bit plain and it seems as if they had a lot of ideas and possibilities after a brainstorm session and put them all in this movie. Too bad, because ultimately the visual part wasn't that bad.

The plot of this film is so ridiculous, it really is camp. The twists and turns are ridiculous. Josh Henderson is damn cute/hot and kept me tuned in. Most of the acting is over the top, and gives this movie a surreal feeling. The lighting is very,'TV movie of the week,'as are the sets. Watch only at 4a.m. when you can't sleep.

Good movie, horrible sound mix.
Z326 July 2013
A lot of reviews on Rotten Tomatoes have been railing on how bad the music is, I thought the music was fine. What was bad, actually, terrible, was the sound mix. My god, I haven't had to sit through a mix that bad in years. I never really thought a sound mix could ruin a movie so badly, but this one did.

As educated as movie critics like to think they are, they are usually clueless when it comes to how a film is actually put together and merely react in a knee jerk fashion to the easiest thing their little minds can grasp, in this case, the score. Don't get me wrong, the score was not spectacular (although I did like the theme music), but it was mixed in WAY too loud, so subtle stings were turned into ear-splitting shrieks. ALL of the sound effects were mixed in way too loud and ruined perspective/context. For instance, there's an establishing shot of an apartment building and way off in the distance there was the flashing lights from a helicopter, but the way the sound was mixed in, it sounded like it was about to land on top of the car that was pulling up. Why the hell would you mix something that is so distant and has absolutely nothing to do with the scene so loudly into the show? Unbelievable. Any scene that took place in the kitchen sounded like there were 30 pots of boiling water somewhere. There's also a scene where Haley is putting a bandage on Josh's forehead in the bathroom and it sounds like someone's filling a bathtub just out of frame... what the hell is that about?

Anyway, ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE MIX aside, the acting was quite strong, particularly from Aidan Quinn and of course Beau Bridges is always good. Haley was pretty good through most of it as was Josh, though there were a few sections where their vibe seemed off. It feels like there were a few large scenes that were cut, so we're kind of missing why the characters mood have changed so much.

Overall I liked the story but it did feel like some of the connecting tissue was somehow missing and it feels like I was rushed through it. The Production Design and Cinematography are the stand outs in this film. The whole move looks great and it's nice to see an indie film that was still shot on 35mm instead of RED. All the sets look really good and I couldn't tell which was a built set and which was a location, which is pretty impressive!

All-in-all, I think it's a film worth seeing (I saw it at the Chinese Theatre in LA) but man, that mix will pretty much ruin most people's enjoyment of the film.

Great Cast, Very Interesting Movie!
shominy-491-6523559 August 2013
We found this movie entertaining from beginning to end with many sitting-on-the-edge-of-your-seat moments. Everyone in the cast is excellent. The young couple are believable - and likable. No matter what deceit the young couple were involved in, we felt sorry for them in their desperate situation and were rooting for them. This film has many twists in the plot which will keep you interested. Many films we rent have lengthy scenes that we feel need editing - however, this movie has excellent editing and is anything but boring! We highly recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys a suspenseful story that keeps you guessing 'til the very end.

Train Wreck
LeonardiLeo34520 September 2014
Holy cow was this bad. I had no idea this was so high on IMDb.

The acting sucks, the script was horrible and the pacing left much to be desired. It started out so slow that I almost fell asleep at the wheel myself. The Production Design and Cinematography are the stand outs in this film. The whole move looks great and it's nice to see an indie film that was still shot on 35mm instead of Digital. All the sets look really good and I couldn't tell which was a built set and which was a location, which is pretty impressive.

There's quite a few more complications and maybe had the film had better direction it might have been enjoyable. But it moves at such a sluggish pace that every twist of the plot just slows it down.

To be honest, Rushlights was not a good career move for anyone involved.

Excellent guy movie
badttboy25 February 2014
I was very surprised after watching this movie. I really was not expecting it to be as good as it was, being that it did not make it to the big screens. Even if the critics were to tear it to pieces, much worse films make it to the big screens every week. I can definitely recommended it as a very enjoyable "Guy flick". It's got a good fair share of action for a thriller. It may not be a "Chick flick" but it has a sufficient amount of romance to make a good date movie. Over all the acting was great. The Plot has it's twist and turns to keep you from getting bored from predictability, which is the norm for most thrillers. If I was to find one thing to pick at. Maybe they could have cut the segment and story relating to the whipping scene. Was not very believable as the type of reaction you would expect from the main character. Maybe they wanted to show some extra skin. However it's a sure entertaining movie.

nice movie to watch
kostas656524 July 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Well made film, nice directing, almost good acting, believable (and a little sick) romance, good suspense twists and turns throughout the film.

At the end of this film you will not say, "who is going to give me back this time?" Just don't expect the greatest movie ever made but a decent movie for its budget and maybe forget logic questions inconsistencies or plot holes.

During the movie the viewer grows feelings of sympathy for the loving couple.

Not very disturbing r rated.

Recommended time to watch: Monday night

Grifters in Love
RogerB-P3RV310 July 2013
Where do I start? First the positives. The performances are okay but nothing memorable. Beautifully shot by Gregg Easterbrook giving a proper carmine tone to reflect the proceedings taking place in a small dusty Texas town. The score is slightly ambitious and overbearing for a flick that with few cuts and ADR should be perfect as Lifetime offering.

Nothing original about the plot. Girl (Haley Webb) meets a drifter (all smoldering Josh Henderson), become lovers with just bat of an eye and intense gaze and somehow construed to conned their way to riches only to find obstacles in shape of town Sheriff (Beau Bridges) with his deputy Earl (Jordan Bridges) in tow. I bet Bridges told the producers he will work for half the pay for price of two Bridges. The grifters also had to contend with the appearance of maniacal Edward (Crispian Belfrage) looking for the share of the loot.

Rushlights aim to be the type of B-grade noirish we used to get plentiful of in late 80's and early 90's with smattering of violence, characters with hidden agenda and oodles of nudity to cover for the familiarity of the plot and distract us until the final twist. Only that Rushlights lacked nearly all the ingredients listed. The flick needed something to make it a standout in the genre. Violence is minimal. Sleazy factor is zero. Shocking scenes to jolt us out of stupor.

Tacked on climax(es) is just plain ridiculous.

Aidan Quinn was pretty absorbing with his Texan lawyer persona. The guy needs to be a regular player on TV-circuit than merely being guest stars and supporting roles in films.

Josh is safe from unemployment thanks to TV's Dallas. He needs to put in more effort beyond getting in someone face or staring at them like they stole his bicycle or something.

English actor Crispian doesn't bother to hide his accent but comes off best especially in scenes with Haley which itself felt restrained when you needed the pair cat-and-mouse game to be more graphic in nature.

As a fan of film nudity, there is nothing from lovely Haley. Strangely, I would been disappointed if she went nude. I think she is way too talented to be involved in this middling effort. She got nothing to work with here. Her ability to emote in dramatic scenes is wasted on such a thin material worsened by flimsy clichéd dialogues. It's time for Haley to take a chance and step out of her comfort zone before it's too late. Young actresses have expiry date in youth-obsessed Hollywood.

Interesting thriller and mystery
vchimpanzee4 April 2021
This is a pretty good thriller as well as a mystery that takes many twists and turns with some unexpected surprises along the way. And the surprises don't end when the movie does.

I was going to say Crispian Belfrage, whoever that is, gave the standout performance. As drug dealer Eddie he looks and talks like Keith Urban, if Urban didn't shave for a while and let his hair grow even longer and was an angry blue-collar soccer fan from Liverpool. And was hoarse from too much singing.

But, no. While both Beau Bridges and Aidan Quinn did good jobs early, they really showed what they were capable of later. Especially Bridges.

I'm not familiar with Haley Webb but she showed quite a range, starting out cute and nice but then having to be strong in the face of danger. Plus there is one close-up of her in her underwear. I do wonder why if it was so hot she was wearing shorts on one of the nights, why was she covered up so much in bed the other nights?

I saw the name Joel McKinnon Miller in the credits but couldn't remember who that was. He is the warm and fuzzy if incompetent senior detective Scully on "Brooklyn Nine-Nine". He isn't warm and fuzzy here and in fact, in a brief role, he gets quite angry and violent.

There's quite a contrast between lawyers here. Cameron is professional and seems honest and moral. Once you see Philip Lenkowsky knowing he plays a lawyer, you know he is exactly who you want if you intend to sue for a lot of money and don't care what you have to do to win.

We also get two types of waitresses. Sarah is cute and friendly but she is in the big city. The small town sassy blonde waitress is found in Tremo, and at first I thought she was Amy Poehler. She just looks like her.

Is this family friendly? I don't think so. There may have been some details missing when this was cleaned up for TV. A lot of words certainly were. But there were references to being gay and suggestions of something that would have ruined the reputation of the respected Niles whose fortune was supposed to go to Ellen. Plus there is some violence, but not a lot considering the type of movie. The bloodiest scenes involve a body wrapped in a sheet and being dragged, with blood dripping all along the way, and someone being shipped in the way slaves were in "Roots".

Most of the music was not my taste. A couple of songs were what I would describe as "real country". Most of the music, including a lot of the background music, was a style related to blues and classic rock. This might be what is referred to as "roots" music. A less aggressive version of the style can be a part of bluegrass.

Overall, this was really well done, and while not ideal for me, quite exciting at times.

Welcome to Tremo, Texas
bkoganbing16 August 2013
I rented Rushlights because I'm a big fan of Josh Henderson and the new Dallas series. After seeing it all I can say is I'm glad he's got the gig in Dallas because his career might be toast after this one got inflicted on the movie-going public. It also didn't do the careers of the established Beau Bridges and Aidan Quinn who play a pair of brothers a sheriff and a lawyer respectively in the quaint Texas town of Tremo.

A mutual friend of their's overdosed on some drugs, but in searching her Henderson's girlfriend found a letter saying she's the heir to a fortune down in good old Tremo, a good old boys town if there ever was one.

They decide to have the girlfriend Haley Webb pose as the deceased heiress figuring they'd collect the money and scoot. But of course it doesn't work out that way, especially after the late millionaire is discovered to have been murdered.

There's quite a few more complications and maybe had the film had better direction it might have been enjoyable. But it moves at such a sluggish pace that every twist of the plot just slows it down.

Rushlights was not a good career move for anyone involved.

Rushlights, Josh Henderson, Haley Webb
valys311 August 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Rushlights stars Josh Henderson and Haley Webb as an unscrupulous young couple trying to pull off a seemingly simple con; all they have to do is drive to Texas, pass Webb off as a recently deceased acquaintance, collect an inheritance, and skip town before anyone gets wise. Of course, if the con really were that simple, there'd be no movie, so Henderson and Webb end up getting wrapped up in some predictable small-town intrigue involving Beau Bridges and Aidan Quinn—middle-aged brothers who are, respectively, the town's sheriff and its top lawyer.

Unabashedly pulpy, Rushlights brings to mind the noir chap's churned out by the studios of Hollywood's Poverty Row in the early 1950s. It has a few of the better qualities of sub-B noir—above-average camera-work, a rogues gallery of bit players—and all of the flaws. It even has the sort of slipshod pacing—complete with abrupt, anticlimactic dissolves—that is usually associated with productions trying to conserve film stock.

Whatever pleasure could be derived from the movie's generically twisty plotting is negated by cardboard characterization, indifferent editing rhythms, and a score that sounds like it was pulled from a production music library. Henderson and Webb are non-presences cast in roles that are less characters than collections of plot twists; because Rushlights spends so much time on two protagonists that nobody bothered to write or play, it ends up feeling overlong (even the blandest '50s quickies at least had the virtue of only running an hour). As if to make up for the blandness, director/co-writer Antoni Stutz—whose only prior feature is the Traci Lords/Julie Bowen vehicle You're Killing Me—throws in a lot affected violence; pseudo-shocking stranglings, stabbings, and bludgeons are a regular occurrence. As a result, the movie resembles a flavorless meal doused with hot sauce.

Yeah, no.
bombersflyup26 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Rushlights is astonishingly bad from the outset, gets marginally better with all the corruption and twists.

Not sure what's with the alternate universe doppelganger, who's someone else apparently, but we just move on and it's never discussed. Then dropping a rifle that goes off and hits a guy through the window they didn't know was there, who had a gun of their own, that's pretty amazing! The characterization's woeful, the leads poor, the secondary actors solid. We have a family like one of those "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" films. What an ending though, the dude that's dead wrapped in bedsheets in the trunk for a significant period's apparently back and has tracked them to Mexico, but oh no, he has heart failure and they live happily ever after...

Refreshing!
tanyashultz2476 September 2013
Alright, first of all, if you came out to see t*ts and a$$, you should just go jerk off to a p0rn. There are some very obvious male reviews on here saying stuff like, "as a fan of film nudity…" and all I read is, "blah blah blah…where are Hayley Webb's t*ts? #disappointment" Seriously. Grow the f… up! Hayley is out there kicking a$$, making things happen! From a female and feminist perspective, there's nothing more refreshing. Finally a heroine who does more than just cries and waits for a male savior! If you gave Rushlights 1/10 because there wasn't enough lady- flesh, go back your p0rn sites. Rushlights is a very cool, a true modern film noir – to those of you that are serious about film - go see it. BTW: The acting in the movie is exceptional!

Absolutely spectacular movie of deceit with lots of twists and turns
dansomaiah30 November 2017
I absolutely love this movie. I enjoyed and was pleasantly surprised of the twists and turns. There are quite a few surprises with unexpected many highs and lows which keep on the edge of your seats. Just when you thought you knew who the bad guys are ... you are indubitably brought into another realm of reality which further tests your abilities of predictable accuracy in anticipating the next set of outcomes. The movie moves at a nice pace. Beau Bridges and Aidan Quinn also brought some unexpected results in the direction where this movie was headed at times. Again, who is the good guy and who is the bad guys. The 2 main lead stars are a bit unknown and they gave a good rendition of seasoned veteran stars. Hope this review helps those who choose to watch this movie. Thanks Dan

Movie Rushlights
campbellcdc23 June 2013
This was a great movie/story, plenty of twists and turns. There were very low key tricks in the movie that at first I thought they were bad acting or bad editing, but they made sense once the movie ended. The cast was fantastic, the filming was awesome,I could feel a Tarantino vibe. My only complaint was the music it really did not go with a Texas, bad boys / fast car movie. It was more of an annoying type of music in 'eyes wide shut'or Hitchcock type movies. There some music repetitions that made you want to get up and leave if they didn't stop soon. josh Henderson delivered his wicked ways and he is my vote for '50 shades of Gray'. josh is a home town boy and the only reason I went to see this movie that has had no preview. I saw it and chose this movie because of josh and there was not any other drama movies available. Only animation / super hero movies.

Rushlights is a solid, at times exceptional thriller...
filmnoir2478 September 2013
Mark Leeper from the ONLINE FILM CRITICS SOCIETY gives Rushlights a 6 out of 10, compares it to "early Cohen Brothers". While I agree with the Cohen Brothers likeness, my vote stands at a strong 8 out of 10. Rushlights is a solid, at times exceptional thriller. Director Antoni Stutz has a unique, talented eye - you can see right away that an artist is at work. In addition the acting is top-notch, however I think the script is a bit over the top. It'll be very interesting to see what project Stutz picks next, considering Rushlights is his first feature. Over the years, one sees a lot of first timers come and go - in this case, I'm certainly taking notice.

Warning: Spoilers
I thought the kids were fantastic. I really liked all their characters a lot. They did not make the best choices, but how many of us did at that age? I mean, they are just kids. So, I think they definitely came across as likable and relatable. Plus, Haley Webb is incredibly hot in this movie! She definitely brings a lot to the table in that regard. Otherwise, I thought the story was pretty exciting and it had lots of thrills! Also, all of the action and intense moments definitely kept me going, right up until the end of the movie. I would recommend this movie to action-seekers and I'll be watching it more than once for sure.

Fear and Loathing in Texas
sportsbros80812 October 2013
On the surface Rushlights seems like it is going to be another conman/grifter flick but it delivers so much more. It presents a really solid suspenseful storyline.

The basics of the story are these: Billy and Sarah are con men for Los Angeles who go to a small Texas town to claim an inheritance that is not theirs. Of course the town is even more corrupt and twisted than even they are. Aidan Quinn and Beau Bridges are brothers and both are prominent members of the community.

It's hard to tell if the brothers are after Billy and Sarah because the smell a rat or just because they are "outsiders" in their town.

Overall, Rushlights is a solid suspense drama with a lot of twists and turns. Haley Webb does a great job as Sarah and Bridges is terrific. My favorite performance is delivered by Aidan Quinn. I have been a fan of his for years. I've always liked him in Elementary and he does not disappoint in Rushlights.

If you get a chance to catch this film I highly recommend you watch it.

Honestly and truthfully, I thought this was going to be semi-mediocre, at best. My girlfriend is a big Josh Henderson fan, so she made me watch go and see it. Anyway, I don't know and am not really sure what some of these people are talking about on here. Slow-paced? Boring? Yeah right! I almost fell out of my chair at one point in the movie! I was really, really, really impressed, and I don't say that often. I did not expect it to be anywhere near that good! The acting was much better than I expected too, for sure. Beau Bridges killed it, as always. The whole, entire production was pretty impressive come to think of it. Go see it now!

Warning: Spoilers
So, I was waiting on seeing this movie since I loved the casting and actor lineup for it. All I can say is "saw it and loved it." The whole plot of this film was great. I love movies where there are cons being played and a lot of twists and turns that take the viewer for a ride. There is plenty of action to satisfy any thrill seeker and enough good story to keep you on the edge of your seat wanting more. I especially loved the performances by Beau Bridges and Aidan Quinn. They are a couple of my favorites and it was so great seeing them in a film together and playing in this type of film. This movie is a must see for anyone!

Deceit and mistrust mixed with brilliant levels of tense energy!!
jilldalejd24 September 2013
Warning: Spoilers
WARNING ** MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS ** Set in Alabama and based upon a true story, Rushlights is captivating, full of intrigue and cleverly written - full of plot twists and surprises. The layers and layers of deceit and mistrust coupled with the incredible chemistry between the two main characters, Sarah (Haley Webb) and Billy (Josh Henderson) make this one of my favorite movies of the year. Fantastic cinematography, storyline and film score, this movie is nothing less than titillating. The story becomes darker as the movie progresses. Beau Bridges is phenomenal as the untrusting Sheriff, who suspects the two main characters of fraud when they come to collect the fortune of the dead Uncle of Sarah. Turns out, Sarah is not really his niece and not entitled to the estate. A must see. Loved it!

A surprising gem with some nasty criminals

I had heard nothing about Rushlights before I saw it, and sometimes that's a treat. And so it was, this time! It's an exciting and entertaining flick just for entertainment. It succeeds in entertaining me. A touch of Coen-brothers, a touch of Twin Peaks and a bit of films like "Shallow grave", "head above water", "True romance" or "U Turn".

A young couple meet each other as waitress and customer in a bar. A week later they are a couple, and a tragedy struck. By coincidence they get a following idea, and goes to the small town of Tremo in Texas, which keeps the suspense high for the rest if the movie.

Both main actors, Haley Webb and Josh Henderson are really good in their roles as the cute young couple, and their job are weighed well on great roles by Beau Bridges and Aidan Quinn. The rest of the cast is just as good. It reminds me of the best crime flicks I watched back in the eighties, as it's got some kind of retro feel.

I love the pace, the filming, the twist and turns, the cars, all the bad people and the Texas heat. And when the actors are doing such a fine job as well, there's a lot to enjoy.

This is writer and director Antoni Stutz's second feature film, and obviously a large step up from the first. Everything about the film I would say is well made, maybe except from a sound mixing that could have been better. It's also funny that everybody, even the owner, mistakes the stolen pick up truck for a El Camino, when clearly is a Ford Ranchero.
