- TriviaThe tropical planet seen during the opening sequence is called Aynaboni, a play on the name of the famous pirate Anne Bonny.
- GoofsOmega reasons that, because the cargo containers on the ship are equipped with reentry thrusters, the group can stow themselves aboard one, eject it, and safely make it back to the planet's surface. Tech agrees, though cautions that they must eject the container before leaving the planet's atmosphere. Reentry means to enter a planet's atmosphere. Reentry thrusters, then, would be thrusters designed to aid with entering a planet's atmosphere, and should function for that purpose, meaning the Bad Batch could use them even if outside the atmosphere.

Spoils of War
I think I've been waiting for this show to come back along with many other fans of what Dave Filoni has brought to the animated field. And while I never thought that "Star Wars: The Bad Batch" reached the same heights as his other animated ventures, I saw a lot of potential in a show that's very focused on its characters and their journey, which is never a bad thing. The question was if they would be able to bring it back with a blast. And they definitely do that, because this episode is a lot of fun, if maybe just a little bit repetitive.
It's clear that this show is very dedicated to its characters. The titular batch is a very great focal point, and the creators keep coming up with ways to further develop them. This episode was a little light on that, but still took some time out of the beginning to show that Omega is really coming into her own and finding her place among the batch as a valuable member. Her character arc was very important for the first season, and it's expected that it will be again here, but maybe they'll find some time to also give the other members some really important season-long arcs. It features some great action and the animation style seems to have really improved once again. It's difficult to find new ways to make it look better, but they've managed to do it now for two seasons, and the details become ever more impressive. What the show needs to do is put some changes to the formula, because while I enjoyed the mission-of-the-week aspect of the previous season, it does bear the chance of becoming very repetitive, and it feels like it's already starting with this first episode. While giving us some great insight into the aftermath of the Clone Wars and how Dooku's fall led to what happened on his homeworld, it still feels like this will be a one-and-done. Granted, this is a two-episode opening, so it seems likely that more will come in the next episode. All in all, this was a very nice welcome back.
"Spoils of War" brings back the titular batch in style and continues its focus on character development, but also exploring the aftermath of the war. It does feel like it's going to repeat some of the first season's lesser aspects, but here's hoping that it will be tweaked enough to feel fresh and unique again.
