Love, Love this flick

I love drama/thrillers and this movie delivers as good as any.

This film was shot in West Virginia and for all mountain mama's... your region looks amazingly beautiful due to Edward Mensore (writer/director) and Matthew Boyd (DP).

The acting is passable... but this film is a directors piece shot with big budget images, but obviously on a low budget.

In the days of generic, generic, generic cinema... thank the heavens really cool indies like The Deposition exist. You can tell the director was influenced by Taxi Driver... but it is better than some Hollywood garbage influenced by other Hollywood garbage.

If your interests tells you to watch a cool, extremely well made, attention grabbing and attention hold film until the very last frame, The Deposition is a great selection.

I am a very big fan.

PIFF screening!!!

I just saw this movie at PIFF and it is truly a great flick. The story is dark and not for everyone. It's a slow-paced, weird movie, very minimalistic, but amazingly beautiful cinematography and direction.

Music, music, and music... Yes, I said it. Music. I forgot to mention. This film has one of the best scores and original music I have heard in quite a while. The score goes from very dark to really beautiful original folk music.

Living in the city and being from Kentucky, this film took me back to rolling hillsides and flowing creeks where I grew up. I thought that it was filmed in Kentucky, but the credits said West Virginia.

Call me a sucker for underdogs, and this film is that. But it does deserve an audience.

If you like indie, dark, thriller/dramas - check out "The Deposition"!!!

Dark and intense

Warning: Spoilers
I saw this movie at a private screening in N. Hollywood. Great, intense film!!!!

Music, SFX, Direction and story are all very original and unique. I give it two big thumbs up!

Former lovers ADAM and JILL reunite at a wedding reception in their rural Appalachian town. Although the two share a chemistry that persists despite their breakup, Jill is with another man, WAYNE. Adam and Jill slip away together for a tryst. As he drives, Adam professes his love for her but a sudden incident causes a violent car crash that kills Jill.

Struggling to recall the truth, Adam's flashbacks depict differing interpretations of his interaction with Jill that night.  He knows that he never intended her harm, but he's unable to prove it. The emotionally draining series of depositions begin as Adam drifts through his lonely life, a shell of his former self, fueled only by a yearning to remember why they crashed.

With different eyewitnesses describing fragments of that night, his memories disjointed, and the threat of criminal charges, Adam is determined to uncover the truth despite his sorrow.

As Adam slowly descends into madness, Adam encounters an ethereal VISION OF JILL. His senses fractured, his mind then projects two DOUBLES OF HIMSELF, a pair of doppelgangers that represent his fractured and conflicting mindsets.

In her deposition, Jill's MOTHER recalls Adam's jealousy after their breakup that escalated in a physical violence. Worse still, Wayne gives his deposition - describing a confrontation he had with Adam over Jill.

Knowing that Wayne lied in an attempt to incriminate him, Adam sets out to kill Wayne for revenge.

Loved this movie

I am a screener for a festival and I had the opportunity to watch this film for review.

The Deposition is dark and will be difficult to program, but it is a GREAT LITTLE FILM... You really can't tell it was made for 20,000. I have seen many million dollar pics look worse.

If you have a chance and want to see a dark, truly indie film - go check out The Deposition.

My favorite aspect is the direction. A constant slow, moving camera with great music and effects.

Chuck Brodsky, a North Carolina musician did all of the original music. It's some of the best folk music I have heard in a film.

Loved this film!
