What did I just watch?

I don't mind thrillers that do build up and make you think(aka psychological thrillers) but this was bad. There basically 2 parallel stories in this movie told from the perspective of 2 women with the same exact friends and married to the same guy but something just seems off.

Sounds like a decent enough premise right? You could go anywhere here and pull the rug out from under the audience and dun dun dun, one of them is the "real" woman and the other is an imposter who is deluded into thinking the fantasy in her head is the truth. Right there, that already sounds miles better than what happened here!

Instead they show the 2 women's perspectives, drop subtle red herrings, a cat fight ensues and an ambiguous ending closes it out. We don't know if both women were somehow living out their fantasies with the same guy as their husband and the same friends and the desire to have a child of their own but this just wasn't executed well at all. Fine, neither is the real Slim Shady so to speak, but give us more to the ending...

What seems like happened is that someone or multiple people wrote 2 different stories halfway and mashed them up into this mess and tacked on an ending that they can say is thought provoking. Nope, not this time. All we got here is 2 incomplete stories that were half told that turned into a movie that looks like it ran out of ideas and money.

If this wasn't a thriller, I would've walked out halfway but I wanted to see how it all played out. This was a very limp thriller that wanted to be clever but just didn't execute properly. Save your time and money.

Ouroboros?

Warning: Spoilers
The prologue was nice, the best part about the movie. It's just dull. Kinda eerie tension but it doesn't lead to anything interesting. It's a pointless movie. Why didn't the other woman, Renata, get a better introduction and explanation. I thought we'd get an explanation of the origin at the least, but the movie just acts like it's already been unveiled with that story of a woman drowning. Like let's get to know her so we understand why she's crying and all. It's a terrible attempt at mindf'ck movie. What's this pressure to have a baby stuff? How did eve know everything when she came back? How did she come back to begin with? Where did the boat take her? Who was that n'gga in the boat? It just didn't make sense. The premise seems like something that could've been nice. Also couldn't they make the singing better, is that the voice of someone with music prospects? I had no expectations for the movie but this is even more of snooze fest than I'd have anticipated. The only positive is it's at least less than 90min.

A Shallow Pool That Should've Been An Epic Ocean

Warning: Spoilers
Some Other Woman could've been a thought-provoking sleeper hit that acts as both a symbolic message that you shouldn't give up your dreams for someone else and a thrilling, slow-burn film that captivates the audience. Unfortunately it fails at both.

Joel David Moore's film starts off slow, and while it does get going, it flounders and can't stick the landing after. The best of the film is the climax where Eve realizes she's been completely replaced. There's some genuinely good shots there as Amanda Crew portrays the panic and utter confusion consuming Eve.

But the ending is as bland as the first third.

The twist should have been more than it was. When Eve and Renata started fighting on the ship I threw in the towel. There just isn't enough here.

Joel David Moore's film should've been a strong and slow thriller. Instead it comes off pretentious and is played too literal for any of it to work. Give this a miss.

Worth checking out!

Some Other Woman is a thought provoking thriller starring Amanda Crew, Tom Felton, and Ashley Green Khoury - with a supporting role for ex-NBA player, Rick Fox! Tom Felton is no longer the mean-spirited one-dimensional Malfoy from the HP universe - I thought he did a great job in his role as Peter.

The writing is smart and keeps the mystery developing without any significant lulls. Like any good thriller, you're never quite sure what may be around the corner next and you are soon drawn into the story as it unfolds.

Under the radar movie with a limited release, but worth hunting down and checking it out!

Definitely worth watching, absolutely incredible

"Some Other Woman" is a psychological thriller that will have you glued to your seat from start to finish. The movie follows the story of Eve, Forced to give up her own dreams while living on a tropical island, Eve Carver encounters a strange woman who begins to take over her life.

The movie has a well-written script and excellent acting. The tension and suspense build up throughout the movie, and the ending is unexpected. The psychological themes in the movie are thought-provoking, and it's a well-made movie overall. I highly recommend checking it out.

The film also does a great job of using its visuals to enhance the psychological aspect of the story. The use of shadows and sound effects creates a sense of unease and foreboding in the audience, keeping them guessing as to what might happen next.

Overall, "Some Other Woman" is a complex and entertaining psychological thriller that is sure to keep you guessing until the very end.

Ignore the bad reviews - they didn't pay attention to the ending

This movie was excellent and far exceeded my expectations. This movie was well produced, well thought out and scripted. It was fast paced and kept you on the edge of your seat throughout. It was only at the very end of the movie that you understood what happened. I feel sad that the movie has received so many bad reviews as they clearly didn't watch the ending properly. It spelled it out. Maybe some people are used to super dumb down movies where the ending has to be actually explained, but I would hope that we get back to these type of psychological thrillers that are not dumbed down to the point that it's obvious from 5 minutes in. 10/10 movie!
