Weak

First of all, I am in love with sci-fi thrillers and all that dark fantasy stuff is my favorite dish. So, I must say that the main idea of the story is okayish, as it might seem interesting for someone who never saw anything similar before, but I did see this idea play out before plenty of times, so I saw that main twist coming literally from the first moments of the movie (even though I put the movie on randomly and I never read the annotation or watch trailer, I guess the name of the movie was the ultimate precursor to the whole story and gave it away in my case).

I initially liked the atmosphere and the setting, so I thought I'd give it a chance and see it through. As it turned out there is very little emphasis on that throughout the movie which is a bummer. Nature and world were left unexplored (I mean there are some attempts and some views are great, but there is no emphasis or relation to the initial idea, which just makes it obsolete), even though there were plenty of chances and possibilities to do it right, in my humble opinion.

Same thing with the characters. During first few conversations I thought this would be a movie that might do a good job exploring its characters. Yet all the philosophical mightiness was gone in an instant once the introduction phase ended, characters quickly dropped their facade and became irrational, childish and borderline tragically stupid to favor the development of the plot.

We basically end up with no likable characters a viewer could invest their trust in.

Then the pace of the movie. If it was taking advantage of that slow burn, it might've been good. But as I already mentioned, it doesn't happen.

Once again, this might be a mind-blowing sci-fi thriller for someone who has zero to none experience with sci-fi thrillers in their life. But I saw a lot of those and for me this one is predictable, boring and also kind of pretentious. I mean, it's kind of overpromises a lot in the beginning, then rapidly drops the level of consciousness and reasoning to the ground. Ends up being too blunt.

I wanted to enjoy the movie, but I cannot say I did. Unfortunately. An honest attempt though.

Missed opportunity?!

Warning: Spoilers
I really liked to movie overall, feels like ive seen the story play out in alot of American films, but as a Dane im glad to see us trying atleast.

I didnt like the ending though, and i feel like they missed a huge opportunity to make it amazing, atleast in my opinion. So hear me out:

Nemo gets lost in the forest at the beginning of the film, but gets back again to the "wrong" mother. As stated earlier in the film, there are not two Nemos, (as we know of!) therefore Nemo is spilt between the couples. But my theory is, when the "real" mother looses Nemo in the woods, he dies somehow. Thats why there arent 2 Nemos, and they are able to leave the superpostion, otherwise the ending would have left them deciding which Nemo they had to sacrifice.

Actually.. i think that was really happened. We just didnt witness it.

Great film!!

Interesting take

  • It seems to me that Nordic people should spend less time having intelligent conversations and more time having sex. It would avoid a lot of this.

  • A very interesting take on a situation that is not entirely new in cinema.

  • It takes a bit too long to establish itself, and the pacing isn't always perfect.

  • As soon as we have all four on the scene, things improve, and we get some excellent scenes.

  • It makes us think, makes us question, puts us in those places.

  • Finding ourselves, communicating, reaching understandings, heading towards the same direction. It shouldn't be that difficult, people.

  • The ending is excellent. And heavy.

It's not about relationships; it's about (the nature of) chance, and the question about being offered an unprecedented choice
kerstenwouter29 August 2023
The more said the worse. But most reviews I read get it so wrong what this movie is about... It's almost literally one cinematic answer to the question what would happen if you apply quantum theory to real life.

And in a more elaborate and serious way than some giddy predecessors.

Without any idealism, too romantic notions, or feelgoodiness. The movie does not aim to please, even a tiny but. Which is probably why it receives relatively bad reviews. But the fact that main characters are not necessarily likable does not make it a bad movie per se. It is all the more courageous for it.

Again, it is almost impossible to say more about it without providing spoilers; which is why I don't read regular move reviews anymore because they all do.

Let me just say: it deserves more intelligent praise than just being called a relationship movie.
