Ruefully funny short

Warning: Spoilers
Henry Chinaski (nicely played by Ben Ziegler, who also provides the dryly amusing narration) makes the grievous error of slapping the behind of a woman bending over in the frozen food section at a supermarket. Naturally, Henry gets tackled by another male customer and hauled out of the place in handcuffs by two cops. Writer/director Andrew Menan, adapting a poem by Charles Bukowski and filming on location at an actual supermarket in Santa Fe, New Mexico, astutely nails a strong sense of abject shame and humiliation as Henry is dragged towards a police car while a crowd of gawking onlookers balefully stare at him and makes inspired use of slow motion when Henry gets immediately busted for his heinous public crime. Moreover, the lovely classical music by Beethoven acts as a perfectly ironic aural accompaniment to the sordid on-screen action. Kudos are also in order for Shane Duckworth's rather grainy, but overall quite sharp black and white cinematography. The final line is a real gut-busting doozy. An absolute hoot.
