- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: So you broke down the door, and then provided false testimony to secure the restraining order against Matthew.
- Lloyd Arrington: That guy couldn't move on with his life. What was I supposed to do, wait until he killed one of us?
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: Need I remind you that perjury is a felony, and you're facing five years.
- Lloyd Arrington: Yeah, I want a lawyer.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: And you're going to need one. You used the system to kick a man who was already down.
- [Jesse knocks on the window to attract Horatio's attention]
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: What did we get?
- Jesse Cardoza: I dug up underlying court documents related to the Sloan divorce. Affidavit of the minor Jason Sloan.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: [seeing a picture of Jason with a black eye] The little boy.
- Jesse Cardoza: There was a history of abuse. Beatings. At first, the boy admitted his dad's the one who knocked him around, then he recanted. And Child Services said the only reason he recanted because he feared his father, and the judge agreed. Matthew Sloan lost custody three weeks ago.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: This is the justice that Matthew was looking for.
- Jesse Cardoza: [nodding towards Arrington] You know, that guy lied about getting the TRO. Maybe he's the abuser.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: There's only one way to find out.
- Jesse Cardoza: Follow the evidence.
- Dave Benton: Direct line is up. Speaker will allow everyone to listen in, but only you'll be able to talk to him using that. I will be recording everything.
- IAB Lieutenant Rick Stetler: Are your men in position?
- [affirmation]
- IAB Lieutenant Rick Stetler: Okay, cut the AC. I don't want this guy getting comfortable.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: And I don't want him on edge, Rick.
- IAB Lieutenant Rick Stetler: Tell him it's being repaired. SWAT's in position.
- Calleigh Duquesne: Rick, the firearms lab was designed to be bulletproof. Even if you could see in, you couldn't get a shot to penetrate.
- IAB Lieutenant Rick Stetler: This was a coordinated attack, and we're covering all scenarios here.
- Dave Benton: Calleigh, surveillance is back up.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: Rick... they have to keep their distance.
- IAB Lieutenant Rick Stetler: Look, I know the hostage-taker made you point man on the phone. But I'm SOC; SWAT has tactical command here.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: This is my lab and my responsibility.
- Mathew Sloan: Jesse Cardoza. From California. Well, you're a long way from home, aren't you, Hollywood? You know, I've never been to Cali. Oh, you're an actor, right? Everybody there's an actor, right? I mean, even the governor.
- Jesse Cardoza: I'm not an actor.
- Mathew Sloan: So why are you here?
- Jesse Cardoza: You forced us in here, as I recall.
- Mathew Sloan: No, why are you *here*? In Miami?
- Jesse Cardoza: I'm just on vacation.
- Mathew Sloan: Why are you here at this crime lab?
- Jesse Cardoza: Someone stole my car. I was just filing a report is all...
- Mathew Sloan: With her?
- Jesse Cardoza: Yeah.
- Mathew Sloan: I find out you're lying, I'll kill her.
- Jesse Cardoza: Yeah, and you'll leave here in a box. I guarantee it.
- Mathew Sloan: Oh, man. I really hope you're an actor. 'Cause you scared me.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: I'm unarmed.
- Mathew Sloan: It's Horatio Caine. You know, you look just like you do on TV. You know, like... like when you found that Walsh baby last year. Nobody thought you'd find that kid alive.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: I need the woman.
- Mathew Sloan: I want a helicopter. And I want $100,000.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: This is not a negotiation.
- Mathew Sloan: [turning himself in] I knew it. I knew you would do it.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: Well, you were looking for justice, Mathew. I guess you found it.
- Mathew Sloan: But now you know the truth.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: I do know the truth.
- Mathew Sloan: Can you tell my son why I did this? That I did it for him.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: You know, Mathew... I think you can explain that a whole lot better than I can.
- Natalia Boa Vista: We know how this happened.
- Tanya Arrington: It's so hard. You have no idea.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: Actually, Mrs. Arrington, I do. And you knew if you followed this procedure and accused your husband of abuse, the court would probably side with you.
- Tanya Arrington: I never meant to hurt my boy.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: There is no... no excuse for what you did. Ever.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: SWAT team, stand down. That is not the HT. This is Jesse. Stand down! He's one of ours. Go! Get the helmet off him. Get the helmet off him!
- [the helmet is removed]
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: Jesse.
- Jesse Cardoza: [the tape over his mouth is taken off] Get this gun off of her, all right? I'm taped to the trigger.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: Where is he?
- Jesse Cardoza: I don't know. He sent us over here as a distraction. He also left the money. Where's that bag?
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: Let me see that money.
- Jesse Cardoza: It doesn't make any sense.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: It might. He may be trying to tell me something.
- Jesse Cardoza: So, Sergeant Tripp called. They found nothing at Mathew Sloan's last known address.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: Okay, thank you. You picked up right where you left off, huh?
- Jesse Cardoza: You don't mind if I start early, see this through?
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: You never have to ask, Jesse.
- Jason Sloan: Is my dad in trouble?
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: You know, Jason... I'm gonna get him some help. Okay? How'd it happen?
- Jason Sloan: I don't know. It just hurt. The doctor said it was a hair fracture.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: You know, I know you're scared. And I know you don't wanna talk about it. I understand the situation... very well. You want to make your dad happy, so you tell the truth. You want to make your mom happy, so you tell a lie. The judge makes a decision, right? And he makes the wrong one.
- [he nods]
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: Jason... I know that your mom is hurting you. And I want you to know that it's not your fault.
- Jason Sloan: I don't wanna lie anymore.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: I know you don't, and I'm gonna fix it so you never have to tell another lie again.
- Jason Sloan: Dad never hurt me. Mom said she was scared that he'd take me away.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: Right. I believe you. And I'm gonna make this all right. All right?
- Jason Sloan: Okay.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: All right, now. Hang in there.
- Calleigh Duquesne: No wonder Jason recanted his story. He must've been terrified of his father.
- Jesse Cardoza: You're so sure it was Mathew Sloan?
- Calleigh Duquesne: Yeah. I mean, he did shoot somebody this morning.
- Jesse Cardoza: I was there, Calleigh. Look, you've seen this guy's file. Before today, I mean, this guy's done everything, everything he can to get his life back together. I mean, first this Darren Ripley guy takes his money, but he couldn't find any recourse for that. Then he gets a TRO thrown at him for making harassing phone calls in the middle of the night. The guy works two jobs. That's when he's off. Hey, you've worked doubles before. How many times have you gotten off work, you called somebody not realizing what time it was?
- Calleigh Duquesne: Once or twice.
- Jesse Cardoza: And the medication that you found in the van, he was taking that so he could see his kid. That guy did not beat his son.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: Ma'am, I'd like to buy another round.
- Ryan Wolfe: Sorry, H, but the new guy buys the next round.
- Jesse Cardoza: Hey, technically, I was here way before you, but I'll buy. What are you having?
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: A club soda.
- Ryan Wolfe: Oh, come on, H.
- Natalia Boa Vista: We're off the clock. Come on.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: Somebody... has to drive.
- Ryan Wolfe: Well, I would, but I'm not tall enough to reach the pedals.
- Danielle Hansen: [after getting shot in the leg] How bad is it?
- Jesse Cardoza: It looks like it may have hit the femoral artery, but I gotta get this bleeding under control.
- [taking off his shirt]
- Jesse Cardoza: Hey, you! Come here, come on.
- [Perkins runs over]
- Jesse Cardoza: Look, keep constant pressure on this wound, okay?
- [taking off his belt to use as a makeshift tourniquet]
- Jesse Cardoza: Sorry. How you feeling?
- Danielle Hansen: It's cold. It's so cold.
- Mathew Sloan: What's going on?
- Jesse Cardoza: Her pulse is thready and tachy.
- [feeling her foot]
- Jesse Cardoza: She's lost distal pulse; she's going into shock. Take your lab coat off. Come here, let's cover her up.
- [Sara and Perkins take off their coats]
- Jesse Cardoza: Here you go. We gotta get her warm. Here we go.
- Sara Clark: [giving him a clean shirt] Here.
- Jesse Cardoza: [putting it on] Thanks. Okay...
- Danielle Hansen: [weakly] Sure you wanna come work here?
- Mathew Sloan: [realizing as Jesse hangs his head] You're a cop.
- IAB Lieutenant Rick Stetler: [hearing a gunshot] SWAT is holding their position. It's not my fault.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: It's about the life of a hostage, Rick. It's not about you. I need your vest, please.
- Uniform MDPD: Yes, sir.
- IAB Lieutenant Rick Stetler: You're not going in there.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: Have the bus ready. Let's roll.
- IAB Lieutenant Rick Stetler: Stay on him close. This is a suicide mission.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: Ted, is there anyone I can contact, a wife or a girlfriend? Is that the justice you're looking for?
- Mathew Sloan: You don't even know who I am.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: I know you're not Ted Wells.
- Mathew Sloan: Tanya. She used to look up to me. You know? I made one mistake. One bad business deal.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: [muting the call] Look into public records. Check any recent divorce action. Plaintiff name's Tanya, surname unknown. Do it right now.
- Dave Benton: Got it.
- Darren Ripley: My clerk tells me you want to cash a check for $100,000?
- Ryan Wolfe: Actually, we want to give you an IOU.
- Darren Ripley: Funny. Get out of here, or I'm going to call the cops.
- Calleigh Duquesne: Look, we are the cops, okay? We've got a hostage situation. People's lives are at stake. Here's our paperwork.
- Darren Ripley: O-Okay, y-you know what? You can't just come in here and clean me out, okay? I mean, how am I gonna get my money back?
- Calleigh Duquesne: I understand what you're saying, and I'm sorry. But if you have any other questions, you're gonna have to get in contact with Horatio Caine.
- Calleigh Duquesne: Is everyone out?
- IAB Lieutenant Rick Stetler: We don't know. We're doing a head count right now.
- Calleigh Duquesne: You got any idea who these guys are?
- IAB Lieutenant Rick Stetler: Well, witnesses say it's one guy barricaded in Firearms with the hostages. Where were you when it happened?
- Calleigh Duquesne: I was in the locker room. I heard it, I couldn't see it.
- Ryan Wolfe: So, I know the hostage-taker's van looks dirty, but it's clean as a whistle. No VIN, cold plates, no fingerprints.
- Frank Tripp: These your blueprints?
- Ryan Wolfe: Yeah, blueprints of the lab. This guy really did his homework.
- Frank Tripp: Probably knows the building better than we do.
- Ryan Wolfe: Check this out.
- Frank Tripp: [taking an evidence baggie containing a pill bottle] Huh. Label torn off, no name. Little blue pills.
- Ryan Wolfe: Not exactly. Diazepam. They're antidepressants.
- Frank Tripp: Well, this just gets better and better, doesn't it? Without those, his state of mind's gonna get a lot worse.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: I didn't catch your name, friend.
- Mathew Sloan: It's 'cause I didn't tell you, Horatio. Look, you can call me Ted.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: Okay, Ted, is everybody okay in there?
- Mathew Sloan: Oh, everyone is fine, so long as you keep answering the phone.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: Okay. It's just you and me, Ted. We can all walk away from this together.
- Mathew Sloan: No, no, no one is walking. You just listen! That's what you do here!
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: And I can do that, too, Ted.
- Mathew Sloan: You have ten seconds!
- IAB Lieutenant Rick Stetler: He is on his way. Is there anything that I can...?
- Mathew Sloan: Four, three, two, one...
- Jesse Cardoza: [shielding Danielle] No, you don't want to do this!
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: [taking the phone] This is Horatio.
- Mathew Sloan: Congratulations, Lieutenant. You have just saved a life. Now let's see if you can save all of 'em.
- IAB Lieutenant Rick Stetler: This is Lieutenant Rick Stetler. Who am I speaking with?
- Mathew Sloan: Rule number one: I ask the questions!
- IAB Lieutenant Rick Stetler: Listen, uh... we're gonna have to work together.
- Mathew Sloan: No, you listen to me. Get me Horatio Caine. I will only talk to him!
- IAB Lieutenant Rick Stetler: Lieutenant Caine is in the field right now. It may take us some time to find him.
- Mathew Sloan: Well, how about ten minutes? Hmm? And after that... a hostage dies.
- IAB Lieutenant Rick Stetler: Receptionist, two techs unaccounted for.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: Sounds like Danielle. Who are the techs?
- IAB Lieutenant Rick Stetler: Ben Perkins, Sara Clark.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: Okay, put 'em up in the elevator. Let's see how he did it.
- Ryan Wolfe: I'll check into it.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: Calleigh, how are we doing on the surveillance footage?
- Calleigh Duquesne: The system's web-based, so we had to disable it to blind the hostage-taker from seeing what we were doing.
- Dave Benton: We should have it back up soon.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: All right, so we comb the footage; lobby, reception, parking lot. See if we can get an ID.
- Mathew Sloan: You probably think I'm a whack job, right?
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: Ted, I don't think you're a whack job. People find themselves in bad situations all the time.
- Mathew Sloan: That sums it up. The American Dream trampled on by anyone and everyone.
- [threatening Jesse]
- Mathew Sloan: Get that in front of the door! But you... you're gonna get us out of this one. You're gonna make sure justice is done. That's why I asked for you.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: [writing and circling the word "justice"] Ted... how can I help you get justice?
- Mathew Sloan: Right, I tell you, and you ignore me like everybody else. No! This is my thing, my way, and my timetable.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: Ted, I understand that, but I can't hold SWAT back forever.
- Mathew Sloan: Well, I got something for them. Rule number three is... I see a cop, I kill a cop.
- [first lines]
- Natalia Boa Vista: Hey, Calleigh.
- Calleigh Duquesne: Hi!
- Natalia Boa Vista: I'm sort of surprised to see you. I thought you'd be taking a personal day.
- Calleigh Duquesne: Why's that?
- Natalia Boa Vista: Well, didn't Eric get out of the hospital yesterday?
- Calleigh Duquesne: Yeah, he did. The department lawyers have advised that he and I not have any contact until the investigation into the armory shooting is closed.
- Natalia Boa Vista: Well, you at least got a chance to tell him that you didn't try to shoot him on purpose, though, right?
- Calleigh Duquesne: But I did shoot at him. He was a suspect fleeing an active crime scene.
- Mathew Sloan: One of y'all better negotiate with me!
- IAB Lieutenant Rick Stetler: Okay, I'm listening.
- Mathew Sloan: Look, I want a copter and 100k.
- IAB Lieutenant Rick Stetler: All right, we'll work on that.
- Mathew Sloan: Yeah, well, work faster, otherwise your cop Cardoza here is next. And no fed money. No banks, no dye packs. Go to one of those check-cashing places.
- IAB Lieutenant Rick Stetler: Yep, I know a place.
- Mathew Sloan: Yeah, I know a place, too. There's one on Eighth and Gillpark. Royal Vista. Go there, and believe me, I'll know if you don't.
- Ryan Wolfe: So, we found coveralls and a tool belt stashed on the top of elevator. I'm guessing that's where he also put his motorcycle helmet and his weapons.
- Calleigh Duquesne: Okay. This is what he looks like in the lobby. Unfortunately, we still don't have a good look at his face, and the Firearms camera was knocked out before we could get a look at him.
- Ryan Wolfe: [looking at the logbook] I got a Ted Wells who checked in at 8:23 a.m.
- Calleigh Duquesne: No, that's not gonna do us any good. That's the same alias that he gave Horatio. You know what? I'm gonna backtrack and see if we can figure out how he got here.
- [rewinding the surveillance video]
- Calleigh Duquesne: He drove himself. All right. That means the van's probably still in the parking lot.
- Ryan Wolfe: That's great. I'll grab somebody and head over there. By the way, Ted Wells has been checking in all week. That's probably how he snuck all the weapons into the lab.
- Mathew Sloan: I want the building clear and everyone out. And then clear a path via the south stairwell.
- Jesse Cardoza: You know, that isn't very smart. You're gonna be exposing yourself to SWAT out there.
- Mathew Sloan: Yeah, well, I got a plan for that. You just get on the phone and tell them I expect to see Horatio out there.
- Calleigh Duquesne: Take a look at this. It's that guy Jesse Cardoza.
- Ryan Wolfe: The new transfer from L.A.
- Calleigh Duquesne: He used to work here with Horatio back in the day. He wasn't supposed to be here for another week.
- Ryan Wolfe: You think he's armed?
- Calleigh Duquesne: No. Look. There he is at reception, checking in his backup.
- Ryan Wolfe: Well, I don't think the HT would've known he'd taken a police officer hostage.
- Calleigh Duquesne: I'm afraid that if he figures out this guy is a cop...
- Ryan Wolfe: He's gonna kill him.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: Ted, do you want me to find Tanya? You two can talk it through.
- Mathew Sloan: No, I think she's done talking to me.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: What if I were to set it up?
- Mathew Sloan: [hearing a banging in the ceiling] What the hell is that?
- Jesse Cardoza: It's just... just the AC, man.
- Mathew Sloan: Horatio! You got SWAT coming in here?
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: It's probably the AC, Ted.
- Mathew Sloan: I see a cop, I shoot! Don't you try me, Horatio!
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: What's Mr. Sloan's full name?
- Darren Ripley: Mathew Sloan.
- Frank Tripp: I'll check it out. Track down the ex-wife.
- Darren Ripley: Yeah, track her down.
- [laughing]
- Darren Ripley: What, are you guys kidding me? What does he have anything to do with this?
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: Mr. Sloan is seeking justice. You did something to him, and now he's sent me after you. Why?
- Darren Ripley: We were legitimate business partners, okay? I was starting this new venture, this drive-in, check-cashing thing. I mean, we both went in 50/50.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: Which means he put up his life savings, and you put up fake paper.
- Darren Ripley: Yeah, that. Whatever. See, when the venture failed, he noticed that I wasn't too concerned about it, so he somehow figured out that I was counterfeiting. You know? Then he kept calling the Better Business Bureau. He kept calling the attorney general's office. He was trying to sic them on me. I mean, he was crazy, man.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: This man... has you facing federal charges now, so who's crazy?
- Frank Tripp: You own Royal Vista Check Cashing, Mr. Ripley?
- Darren Ripley: Uh, you know what? Here's a better question. When are you paying back the 100 grand that you took from me?
- Frank Tripp: Pay you back? What the hell are you talking about? That money's not worth the lint in my pocket.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: Yes, what my esteemed colleague is trying to say is that we know you're counterfeiting money.
- Darren Ripley: [amused] Get out of here, man. You guys got some bad intel.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: The burn marks on your hands indicate a process that uses a corrosive material to strip ink off bills.
- Frank Tripp: Then you print whatever denomination you want.
- Darren Ripley: Okay, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Look, just listen. You guys came into my workplace, no warrant, nothing - which I was cool with, by the way - and now you're setting me up.
- Frank Tripp: No, we didn't, but somebody wanted to make sure you went down for this.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: [putting a picture on the table] Why don't you have a seat?
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: [after Mathew was spotted at his ex-wife's house] So, what do we have?
- Frank Tripp: Nada. Family wasn't here at the time. Patrol has fanned out, the canine unit's been, uh, notified.
- Calleigh Duquesne: Was anything taken from the inside?
- Frank Tripp: No. Pool guy across the street said he just showed up, kicked the door in, and high-tailed it out of here.
- Calleigh Duquesne: Well, that's a new one. You kick the door in and then turn around and flee?
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: You know, friends, I think this is another message.
- Natalia Boa Vista: [running a DNA sample through CODIS] Lloyd Arrington? Uh, okay. Well, that's gotta be a mistake, so let me just run it again.
- Calleigh Duquesne: Wait a minute. What if Mathew didn't kick in the door?
- Natalia Boa Vista: Eyewitnesses saw him there at the scene.
- Calleigh Duquesne: No. I'm talking about the initial incident. The one the couple got the restraining order on. What if Lloyd Arrington kicked in his own door a month ago and left a hair behind?
- Natalia Boa Vista: And it's been accumulating salt from the marine air since.
- Calleigh Duquesne: Exactly. That's what Mathew wanted us to find. He was framed.
- Natalia Boa Vista: Travers ran the white substance that coated the hair.
- Calleigh Duquesne: And?
- Natalia Boa Vista: It was sodium, and the mineral content suggests it was sea salt.
- Calleigh Duquesne: Well, that's certainly helpful, seeing as Miami is surrounded by water.
- Mathew Sloan: Darren Ripley's gonna get what's been coming to him, right?
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: Yes. But now he's facing felony counterfeit charges, Mathew. You should have come to me first.
- Mathew Sloan: Not everybody can live in Miami, man. Out here in the sticks, we got a bunch of Keystone Cops that never make the 6:00 news, but you... you all over TV. Helping people.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: So your answer is to commit a crime in my backyard.
- Mathew Sloan: Well, it worked, didn't it? I got justice.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: Yes, but now you're a felon. And as a felon, Mathew, you need to turn yourself in.
- Mathew Sloan: No, not yet. You got the person that ruined my life, but not the one that took all I had left.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: Who would that be?
- Mathew Sloan: That's what I need you to find out.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: What happens, Mathew, if I find you first?
- Calleigh Duquesne: This is interesting.
- Jesse Cardoza: [taking a sheet of paper] The wife filed a petition for sole custody of her son three weeks ago.
- Calleigh Duquesne: The Arringtons didn't say anything to me about it.
- Jesse Cardoza: Sole custody on what grounds?
- Calleigh Duquesne: It says "Pursuant to the minor's affidavits in family court." You know, the boy, Jason... he had a cast.
- Jesse Cardoza: Well, papers concerning a minor are usually sealed.
- Calleigh Duquesne: Well, let's figure out a way to open them.
- Calleigh Duquesne: Let's suppose it's Lloyd the stepdad. Do we have any evidence to support that?
- Jesse Cardoza: Well, you mentioned he had a broken arm.
- Calleigh Duquesne: Yeah. Hospital said the boy suffered a distal radius fracture two weeks ago.
- Jesse Cardoza: Well, Mathew lost custody. Hasn't been allowed to see his kid in three weeks. So he's not responsible for that.
- Calleigh Duquesne: That's true. You know, what if this didn't happen the first time? What if the broken wrist is a result of repeated abuse?
- Jesse Cardoza: Do it hard enough often enough, you get a radius fracture. It's the stepdad.
- Calleigh Duquesne: Mm-mm.
- Jesse Cardoza: What? Well, what are you thinking?
- Calleigh Duquesne: Look at the size of the bruises.
- Jesse Cardoza: All right, what about it?
- Calleigh Duquesne: Well, these pictures are to scale. You're roughly the same size as Lloyd. Put your hand next to it.
- Jesse Cardoza: [doing so] My hand's bigger than the bruise.
- Calleigh Duquesne: Your hand is bigger than the bruise. Whoever jerked this kid around had a smaller hand.
- Jesse Cardoza: Like a woman's. Someone's gotta talk to that poor kid.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: [returning Jesse's LAPD badge] I think you forgot something.
- Jesse Cardoza: My old shield. You find it Firearms?
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: [giving him an MDPD badge] Why don't you replace it with this? Welcome back, CSI Cardoza.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: The security strip on this bill is glowing blue.
- Jesse Cardoza: The security strip on a 50 is supposed to glow yellow.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: It should. It's fake. It's all fake. It's all counterfeit.
- Jesse Cardoza: He wanted us to find it.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: And who made it. Let's go.
- Calleigh Duquesne: Has your ex-husband approached you or attempted to contact you in any way?
- Tanya Arrington: No. Here's a picture of Mathew.
- Calleigh Duquesne: Thank you. Have you got any idea where he might go? Friends? Other family?
- Tanya Arrington: We haven't seen him since the restraining order was issued last month.
- Calleigh Duquesne: You have a restraining order against Mathew?
- Tanya Arrington: When I filed for divorce, he didn't take it well.
- Lloyd Arrington: Yeah. He acted like it was her fault he lost everything they had to that fraud, Ripley.
- Calleigh Duquesne: So, are you saying that you believe your divorce had something to do with business dealings with Darren Ripley?
- Tanya Arrington: I knew that guy was no good, but Mathew wouldn't listen. He lost all of our savings. After I left him, he would call at all hours, just show up at my work, wanting to explain himself.
- Calleigh Duquesne: Tell me about the restraining order.
- Lloyd Arrington: He showed up a month ago, freaking out, picked a fight with my front door, and then ran off like a coward.
- Tanya Arrington: That was the last straw. I didn't feel safe. We got a TRO, which only made him angrier.
- Calleigh Duquesne: Could have been what incited today's incident.
- Tanya Arrington: Who knows why Mathew does anything? He had to agree to get on meds just to get visitation rights.
- Calleigh Duquesne: What about your son? Does he have a cell phone? Would Mathew try and contact him?
- Tanya Arrington: That's exactly why I won't let him have one.
- Calleigh Duquesne: Well, I'd like to talk to him anyway, if you don't mind.
