Mild satire, ephemeral to say the least
James Avalon is not known for comedy, and this Penthouse video making hay on the Sarah Palin notoriety does not change that fact. It is competently made but hardly worthy of the (obviously meaningless) Industry award nominations it received a decade back.
In particular putting star India Summer up for "Best Actress" is an insult. She has given hundreds of better performances, and is actually rather variable in her paper-thin spoofing of the Alaska governor's speaking cadence and mannerisms. Compared to mainstream impersonations by the likes of Tina Fey (classic) and Julianne Moore (acceptable), she's lousy.
But this is meant as a lark, not to be scrutinized in any detail. The nominal storyline of Gov. Tara Nalin, exiled to Saskatchewan with hubby Nick Manning, and their self-serving dealings with the oil industry is hardly the biting satire perhaps a Larry Flynt of old (not the owner of the dismal video company) would have concocted. It is merely an excuse for the requisite 5 Penthouse sex scenes and some mild stabs at humor, including jabs at the Nalin family mirroring Palin's real-life scandals..
The underrated huge-breasted young Jenna Presley is my choice for breast in show, with top-heavy actresses like Austin Kincaid, Jessica Bangkok (as a dominatrix) and Rachel Roxxx balancing character lead India's presence. Cameraman Jake Jacobs appears on screen as a TV cameraman, but doesn't get to hump any of the leading ladies (under his alternative moniker Jay Crew) this time out. Level of humor is indicated by the station's call letters: KUNT.
