As soon as James Gunn and Peter Safran took over Dceu and rebooted it into Dcu we knew we were going to get a new Batman movie, ‘The Brave and the Bold.’ The biggest question on everyone’s mind is however, who is going to take over the role of Bruce Wayne, as it’s one of the most iconic roles aspiring actors can play in the genre.
Several names come to mind as favorite fan castings, most notably Alan Ritchson, who voiced his desire to play the character several times, quite loudly, and Jensen Ackles.
Jensen Ackles was picked for the most recent fan-made concept trailer to don the mantle of the Dark Knight alongside Timothee Chalamet as Robin. Ackles already voices the character in ‘Tomorowverse’ and he expressed his wish to play the live-action version of the character as well. The trailer shows how two popular actors could...

After one of its most polarizing seasons yet, The Real Housewives of Potomac is embracing change as filming for Season 9 gets underway.
As Monsters and Critics previously reported, Robyn Dixon and Candiace Dillard are departing, leaving fans with questions about who will be returning.
According to TV Deets, the cast has been finalized, and filming is set to start this month.
The outlet states that Nneka Ihim failed to secure a contract and will become one-and-done.
As a new cast member, Ihim was caught up in many arguments throughout her short stint on the Bravo reality series.
However, it doesn’t sound like producers are interested in bringing her back, perhaps because the show will attempt to bring in new women without connections to the other cast members.

Remakes are always a tricky proposition. Some of the greats both in the horror genre and elsewhere are actually remakes, whether it’s a loose one or not. Be it The Magnificent Seven coming from Seven Samurai or The Thing being birthed into imitation dog from the Christian Nyby and Howard Hawks original. I talk about The Thing A Lot but obviously it’s for a reason. You could also throw The Fly in that same category too while we are here. Those are some of the examples of the good but unfortunately, things can go downhill and fast. You have harmless ones like the Friday the 13th remake or Texas Chainsaw, the annoyingly unnecessary like Halloween and Amityville Horror, or the egregiously awful like The Fog and A Nightmare on Elm Street. Like them or loathe them, or in our case both, they are here to stay, and each...

Andy Cohen has been the face of The Real Housewives universe on Bravo since its launch in 2006, but according to a recent report, his tenure could soon conclude.
InTouchWeekly reports that Cohen, 55, is plotting his exit from the network due to “the fallout from mounting accusations by his stars.”
It hasn’t been a great year for Cohen after Leah McSweeney and Brandi Glanville named Cohen in recent lawsuits over his treatment of them and fellow cast members.
Many cast members have also spoken out in support of Cohen.
Given the recent controversy surrounding Cohen and the Real Housewives franchise, there have been rumblings for months that changes could be made to keep the franchise fresh.
Parting ways with Cohen, who also hosts the reunions for Below Deck, Summer House, and other Bravo shows, would be a significant shift, assuming it comes to fruition.

While the dual union strikes of the writers and the actors postponed some projects, once the studios and unions reached an agreement, there was a lot of catch-up to play. The postponed schedules meant that this year is seeing a delay in several releases. It also looks as if some studios are going to see some releases grouped together. According to The Hollywood Reporter, popular Netflix shows that would have seen a more dispersed schedule are now bunched for later 2024.
The latter half of the year will see the continuation of Netflix’s slate of popular original programming like the anticipated new season of Squid Game, the streaming platform’s biggest series of all time. The schedule will also premiere The Night Agent as well as the final season of the popular Karate Kid sequel series, Cobra Kai. The new season of Outer Banks is also on the dock, plus...

1939 is often called Hollywood’s Greatest Year, and it is indisputable that a huge number of America’s greatest classics were produced in that single year. A usually ignored element of that greatness is that 1939 was also the year that Hollywood resumed production on horror films after a two-year pause. In late 1936 two major factors led to the practical death of the genre: the Laemmle family, of whom Carl Laemmle’s, Jr. was horror’s greatest advocate, lost control of Universal and the British Board of Censors began enforcing the “H” certificate, which for all practical purposes banned horror for its target audience in Britain. The loss of this lucrative market combined with dropping box-office receipts and mounting pressure from American religious groups, Hollywood saw no reason to continue producing horror. The phrase “horror is dead” has often been thrown around over the decades but in 1937 and 38, it was actually true.

The One Piece manga began publication in 1997 and is still ongoing, with Eiichiro Oda continuing the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and his Straw Hat Pirates. The series is part of the “Big Three,” alongside Bleach and Naruto, and is one of the most popular and most important animanga titles in history. But, as you might have assumed, One Piece is not Oda’s first work. In fact, the whole world of One Piece was born from a one-shot manga, Monsters, that came out earlier and which featured prototypes of the current characters we’re following in One Piece!
While not as popular as One Piece, Monsters is regarded by many as a cult classic work and an important work in the development of Oda’s big masterpiece, which is why we frequently report on it. This time, we are celebrating the upcoming special DVD release of the Monsters anime adaptation,...

Disney’s and Pixar’s movies are full of easter eggs, which are a popular way of entertaining fans, as they are not just looking for them, but are also interpreting them and the meaning of their presence in the work. Such easter eggs are present in other works as well, not just movies, but this discussion is about a very special easter egg that potentially connects two big franchises created by Pixar.
The first one is Toy Story, which basically launched Pixar into orbit and became a critically acclaimed and beloved animated franchise with a fifth installment on the way, while the second one is Monsters, Inc., a very popular series as well which managed to become a standalone franchise with some beloved moments and characters. Eiichiro Oda’s one-shot manga Monsters recently got an anime adaptation with the title Monsters: 103 Mercies Dragon Damnation which was released on January 21 on Netflix. He is considered to be the strongest swordsman to ever exist in the One Piece universe.

Zig Zag, UK Producer Behind ‘I Wanna Marry Harry’ & ‘Danny Dyer’s Deadliest Men,’ Declared Insolvent
Exclusive: Zig Zag, the 25-year-old UK producer behind shows including Fox’s I Wanna Marry Harry, is shutting its production arm after being hit by the unscripted commissioning drought.
Zig Zag is putting Zig Zag Productions Limited into insolvency as part of a financial restructuring that has resulted in six employees being made redundant.
The company, founded in 1999 by Danny Fenton, has appointed an administrator following a meeting with creditors on Wednesday. The insolvency company will be announced shortly.
Deadline understands that Zig Zag had three shows greenlit last year, worth as much as £4.5M ($5.6M), but the series were delayed indefinitely amid uncertain market conditions.
Zig Zag’s other companies, including Zig Zag Holdings and Zig Zag Media Rights, will continue trading, meaning it is not inconceivable that the brand will live on if commissions come to fruition.
Zig Zag is not currently in production so no shows are at risk.

They don’t make kids programming like they used to. It used to be that nearly every animated kids title came with jokes for the adults to get and the kids to grow into, in addition to age-appropriate gags and life lessons for the younger viewers. Nowadays, kids programming doesn’t seem to reflect a belief that young viewers can get a well-written joke. But that’s not the case with Monsters at Work. But many are thinking Disney is going to try to start work on the “Beyond Thunder Mountain” area they teased at Destination D23 in 2022.
During that presentation, they teased areas for “Coco,” “Encanto,” and Disney Villains. Most people want to see Disney Villains, and with Epic Universe at Universal Orlando bringing the Dark Universe featuring Universal Monsters, it would be a great idea to compete head-to-head.
Currently, “Encanto” has been moved to the blue sky area, replacing Dinoland U.S.A. at Animal Kingdom, which is called Tropical Americas.
Oddly, they didn’t mention any of this yesterday when Disney CEO Bob Iger answered questions (that many feel were pre-recorded.) He was asked directly about what...

We look ahead to Gareth Edwards’ Jurassic City, what it might be like, and how it connects to his very earliest work.
In the press tour for his 2023 sci-fi film The Creator, British director Gareth Edwards suggested that, after the bruising experiences of making 2014’s Godzilla and in particular 2016’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, he wouldn’t rush to go back to studio filmmaking again.
Suggesting that both of those films had started production without finalised scripts, Edwards said as recently as January that “I have to concentrate on personal and original projects.”
This stance appeared to change rather abruptly just one month later, when Universal approached Edwards with the offer to direct the next Jurassic Park (or Jurassic World) sequel. Original director David Leitch had dropped out, and with the film’s production racing to meet a self-set 2025 release date, Universal Pictures needed a replacement in a...

Check out the full interview below.
Monsters and Critics: What attracted you to Sight Unseen?

From a certain perspective, monster movies might not seem to be as relevant during monstrous times. But in an age when our fears seem larger than life and the world constantly seems as though it’s on the brink of collapse, the best examples of the genre can almost assume a documentary-like authenticity, reflecting our reality as vividly as vérité ever could.
“The Babadook” might be about a demon that pops out of a children’s book, but no recent film does a better job of capturing the acute reality of living with grief. “Cloverfield” follows a gaggle of pre-Instagram model millennials as they’re chased around Manhattan by a bug-eyed colossus, but few of the somber post-9/11 dramas do a better job of distilling the heartsick chaos of watching your hometown try to make sense of a senseless attack. “The Village” is...

Fraser Olender and Ben Willoughby returned to help ease the captain transition.
This week, the mid-season trailer dropped to reveal the drama’s just getting started on Season 11 of Below Deck.
After the footage was released, a Reddit user started a thread about the boring season.

Wes Craven, director of the first four films in the Scream franchise, passed away in 2015. So when Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media teamed up to revive the franchise with the new sequel that was released in 2022, the directing duo of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett took the helm. They then returned to direct Scream VI the following year, with both of their contributions to the franchise centering on sisters Samantha and Tara Carpenter, played by Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega. During a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett confirmed that they had been planning to return to direct Scream 7 and complete a Carpenter sisters trilogy… but they mistakenly thought they could fit the production of their Universal Monsters movie Abigail (formerly known as Dracula’s Daughter) in between the making of Scream VI and Scream 7. Turns out, Spyglass wanted to get moving on Scream 7 sooner than their schedules allowed,...

The penultimate episode of The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live was the most shocking episode of the series to date, culminating with Jadis’ (Pollyanna McIntosh) death.
It was a storyline that had been in the works for years, but Jadis lost her life after playing quite the cat-and-mouse game with Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira).
Monsters and Critics was fortunate enough to chat with Pollyanna about her time on The Walking Dead, The Walking Dead: World Beyond, and The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live.
Check out the full interview below.
Monsters and Critics: I watched this episode multiple times. It’s just one of those episodes you don’t get very often. Not a single scene is wasted.
Since you left the main series, fans have wanted a resolution for Jadis. We also saw you on World Beyond, but The Ones Who Live brought this arc full circle.

Netflix has become known for axing fan-favorite series recently. Now, a beloved talent show, Dance Monsters, has been trashed from the streaming service after just one season. Continue reading for details about why and if the show might be picked up elsewhere.
Dance Monsters Had A Star-Studded Cast & A Huge Budget
Dance Monsters is a dance talent show that focuses on visual effects. It was compared to ITV’s The Masked Dancer. The show was filmed in London, but it was streamed around the world on Netflix.
Each competitor dressed up as a monster of some sort for their performance and typically used a lot of lights and color on stage. The contestants also performed away from the judges and audience, making it easier to “let loose.”

Captain Kerry Titheradge came into Below Deck Season 11 with the task of replacing Captain Lee Rosbach.
There’s no question that Below Deck fans had reservations about watching the Og Below Deck without the Stud of the Sea.
However, Captain Kerry took it all in stride and simply did his own thing – which earned him mad props.
Below Deck fans are gushing over the new captain as Season 11 nears the halfway point.
Although Captain Kerry didn’t come out on top as the favorite Below Deck captain in a recent Reddit poll, he’s gaining momentum quickly.
X (formerly Twitter) was on fire this week singing Captain Kerry’s praises for two very good reasons: How he handled firing Bosun Jared Woodin and dealt with Cat Baugh needing to leave immediately for mental health reasons.

We have already reported that the sad news of Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama passing away hit the anime and manga industry hard. But not just them, Toriyama-sensei passing away has been a blow for the whole world, as fans around the world mourned and paid their respects to the legendary mangaka. Eiichiro Oda, the author of One Piece, was quick to express his sadness over Toriyama’s passing and once the information became public, he composed this heartfelt message:
“It is too early. The hole is too big. Sadness washes over me when I think that I will never see him again. I have admired him so much since I was a child, so I remember the day he called me by name for the first time. On the way home from the day you used the word “friend” for me and Kishimoto, I remember being overjoyed with Kishimoto.

Welcome to a new era of "Star Wars," in more ways than one. Today's newly-released trailer for "The Acolyte" has been a long time coming, promising to delve into an older and more unknown period of history in the galaxy far, far away. Set over a century before the prequel movies during the epoch known as The High Republic, the upcoming Disney+ series will cover wholly new ground that fans have never seen before -- at least, those who haven't been keeping up with the various official tie-in novels released over the last few years. But filling in lore gaps in the canon isn't the only reason why this exciting new story should be on our radar, however. The talent involved in this series both in front of and behind the camera immediately sets it apart from any other to this point, although one name stands tall above the rest.

General Hospital viewers have wondered why The Powers That Be (Tptb) brought John “Jagger” Cates (Adam Harrington) back to Port Charles.
Now, we know.
The recent episode of General Hospital put the pieces together about where Jason (Steve Burton) has been and who has been giving him directions.
When Monsters and Critics broke down the possibilities of who was after Sonny (Maurice Benard), both Jagger and Jason were on the list, but the possibility of Jason working on Jagger’s order didn’t cross our minds.
After Jason’s “dream” in the most recent episode, viewers learned he was caught after escaping the collapsed tunnel and flown to Quantico. There, Jagger could get his hands on Sonny’s right-hand man.
There’s plenty more to be told, and when the connections are put together, there will be many shocked people in Port Charles.

Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow had been one of the primary faces of the MCU’s Infinity Saga. She amassed a huge fanbase for playing Black Widow. Now, it looks like the star is all set to join a new big-budget franchise, Jurassic World. According to the latest reports, the actress has been offered a role in the upcoming film in the franchise created by Gareth Edwards.
Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow
The fans were disheartened when Black Widow had an unfortunate end in Avengers: Endgame. The character made a massive contribution to Scarlett Johansson’s career. She also holds the record for being the second highest-grossing box office star of all time. If the reports are true and if she proceeds with the Jurassic World offer, then we may see her in another billion-dollar film franchise.

Here's my pitch to sell you on director Benjamin Brewer's Arcadian: it's A Quiet Place but with Nicolas Cage and better creature elements. The last part came as a huge shocker. Writer Michael Nilon sets the stage for an eerily familiar doomsday scenario that feels like Gareth Edwards' Monsters at first but quickly finds its roots as a sibling to John Krasinski's alien invasion franchise. Arcadian does take a bit to reach its full momentum, not as dynamically engaging as a survivalist drama, but once the monsters reveal themselves? Brewer executes what could be a knockout audition to direct the next A Quiet Place sequel, should there be more on the horizon.
We first meet Cage's protagonist, Paul, fleeing a metropolitan city under state-of-emergency sirens. Military rockets are fired towards an invisible foe as Paul escapes the crumbling architecture, eventually retreating to a homestead in farmland...

The Monsters are March-ing in this month to participate in Super7 x Boodega‘s first Halloween celebration of the year: March of the Monsters. Bloody Disgusting can exclusively reveal that the densely packed “March of the Monsters” line includes ReAction Figures for horror hosts/icons Svengoolie and Vincent Price.
Brian Flynn, founder of Super7, spoke with Bloody Disgusting to explain more about Super7 x Boodega’s “March of the Monsters” line, its impetus, and what’s ahead.
“Boodega started as, obviously, a celebration of Universal Monsters,” Flynn tells Bloody Disgusting. “But it was also part of our core DNA, which was celebrating monsters, and we’re like, what’s our Halloween holiday? Brian Flynn, founder of Super7, spoke with Bloody Disgusting to explain more about Super7 x Boodega’s “March of the Monsters” line, its impetus, and what’s ahead.
“Boodega started as, obviously, a celebration of Universal Monsters,” Flynn tells Bloody Disgusting. “But it was also part of our core DNA, which was celebrating monsters, and we’re like, what’s our Halloween holiday? We need more than just the 31st. I need all month. I need time. So, that was the impetus behind Boodega, and that was really us, actually. Considering how much of a hit the live-action One Piece series was for Netflix, the streamer appears to have gone all-in with the works of creator Eiichiro Oda. Alongside having the rights to show the anime series’ latest arc with weekly releases, an animated adaptation was revealed for an earlier short story entitled Monsters. Whilst it is understandable that the title was changed to make this short film stand out, it is curious how the new title, Monsters: 103 Mercies Dragon Damnation, is considerably lengthier?!.
The twenty-six-minute short begins with Ryuma (Yoshimasa Hosoya), a swordsman who just wants food but is unable to pay. His path leads to young waitress Flare (Kana Hanazawa), who has rebuilt her life after her hometown was destroyed by a dragon.

During the reading of the U.K. government’s spring budget on Wednesday, Chancellor of the Exchequer Jeremy Hunt revealed a 40% corporate tax relief for film and TV studios through 2034.
The plan also includes a new tax credit for independent films shot in the U.K. that have a budget less than $19 million (£15 million), and a 5% increase in credit for visual effects in film and high-end TV along with the removal of the 80% cap.
“We have become Europe’s largest film and TV production center, with Idris Elba, Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom all filming their latest productions here,” Hunt said. “Studio space in the U.K. has doubled in the last three years, and at the current rate of expansion, next year we will be second only to Hollywood globally.”
Hunt continued to say that the government had listened “carefully to representations from companies like Pinewood, Warner Bros. and Sky Studios” when making the decision.

Through two episodes, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live has proven to be just what the long-running zombie franchise needed to recalibrate.
A big part of the show’s success is its ability to fill in the gaps about what happened to Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) after they departed the main series several years ago.
The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live Season 1, Episode 2, was a Michonne-centric hour, telling us about her journey to reunite with the man she’s held on to hope has been alive for so many years.
Early into her mission, she comes across Nat, played by Matthew Jeffers, who crafts the incredible weapons and armor she’s seen with during an epilogue of the main series.
Just as their mission was gathering steam, they found themselves in danger when the Crm dropped gas from a helicopter, and ultimately, it claimed the...

The FBI universe may have just returned to the air after almost a year off, but sadly, we’re already getting a short break in the schedule.
Unlike in the past, this latest hiatus has nothing to do with the show’s production schedule.
Instead, the shows on the broadcast network will take a breather on Tuesday, March 5.
After such a long break between seasons, a surefire way to ruin the momentum for FBI, FBI: International, and FBI: Most Wanted is to put them on hiatus.
But this time, it’s necessary. There was the hope that with all CBS dramas airing truncated seasons, the breaks in the schedule would be pretty much non-existent.
The three FBI universe series have aired three episodes, so we’re still very early into their latest runs.
When will the FBI universe return to CBS?
