Problems with history
elzorro-144196 November 2022
Acting is not the best and the "historical period" and "fictional present time" are not well depicted, full of prejudices about an interesting time in Spanish history that could have been treated much better. Good news are that if you take the story as something completely fictional and ignore the history bit nuisances, you can enjoy kind of a "parody" of spy movies, science fiction, eternal youth experience with very nice 60's-70's Spanish pop music and the contrast between a time where people speak to people and have respect vs current cold, tech-driven society. So see it if you like something different but do not take seriously the historical facts.

Awful, Awful, Awful

Wow, watched 30 minutes and it was brutally bad. Horrible acting, horrible dialog, along with a ridiculous plot.

It has to have been made to fill hole in hbo's schedule. Rarely have I seen something this bad. Rarely have I seen acting this bad.

The acting is cartoonish. A girl with a backpack outruns soldiers chasing her? It's just difficult to find the words to describe how awful this is. I saw the lead review "I'm really enjoying this!!!" and thought even with a 6 rating it might be entertaining but NO.

I'm writing this review in the hopes someone will see it and not be mislead by other reviews.

Watch something, anything else.

Childish... And cringe.
mmp-1684728 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Premise is really good, so I expected a solid spy-thriller show, especially when it said that it's about soldier from the past trying to survive in modern times.

Unfortunately, the plot is full of holes and acting is really childish and cringe, just like in those saturday morning TV shows for children.

Maybe someone likes this kind of B class fun, but people who enjoy serious thriller movies and series have nothing to look for here. The main actress is really annoying and overacts in literally every scene and conversation. I would expect that movie director would correct her and film the scenes again, but nope - it looks like that's exactly what they wanted.

Anyway, I suppose this show targets 12-15 years old children, so it's okay to let them watch it. If you want some leftist communist propaganda to brainwash them, of course.

Absolutely hilarious!

Best comic book adaption in a long time.

Americans with no sense of sarcasm or other cutler than American, do not need to bother, but for the rest of us, this is a gem, absolute gem! Garcia is just amazing in his stuffy self awareness and the story is funny, with a touch like Batman feeling as it was in the early days. Someone is. Referring to historical accuracy? You are totally missing the point of the whole series! It is definitely not another boring Disney/Marvel adaption, and that is the best thing - nobody cares about Marvels anymore - it is fresh, has some great characters and truly enjoyable.

I'm really enjoying this!!!

Disclaimer: I don't know much about Spain or its political history, so if you're looking for something authentic or accurate, I won't be able to comment. I'm just rolling with the plot as it comes and I'm really enjoying the series!!! This is my favorite genre to watch and I admit some bits are a tad predictable but I find the series fun and entertaining. Some comedy, some action, some seriousness, some backstabbing. Garcia is extremely likeable character thus far and I'm here for Antonia's rapid rants. I find myself eagerly waiting for the next episodes to see where the plot goes and dearly hope the show continues for more seasons.

Far better than I was expecting
luke-946-13322827 November 2022
I decided to give this a go after having read what it was about. I really was not expecting much from it, but it turned out to be a lot more interesting than I had expected.

Genetically altered Super Spy cryogenically frozen by a former Nazi scientist (who speaks Spanish with a bad German accent) and awakened in modern day. It hits almost every trope you could think of from that set up and it's still fun to watch.

It's listed as a drama but it's only slightly more a drama than Warehouse 13 or Buffy, leaning more to a Action/Scifi/Comedy though it can be very dry on the humour.

I'm hoping it gets a Season 2, They set it up nicely for it... I need to know more about the 3rd pod.

Wow.... 😮😮👏👏

So the story is about a super soldier who was in cryogenic for 60 years and now wake up in todays world. So far so good after two episodes. I liked the series. It has little bit humor not more action and story going in good way. At the second episode end got good element of surprise may be some may predict. You already the the story good guy will kill bad one but they make it so good that you going to like it. Entertaining with humor, action, some suspense. Currently watched only two so my review is based on that maybe after it I like it more or not. But definitely worth giving a shot. Watch it at least 2 episodes. You will like it.
