Director/writer: David A. Cross.
Cast: Tracy Teague, Mathew J. Wright and Vince Eustace.
Director/writer David A. Cross has a very interesting product with a movie that delves into the ancient supernatural beliefs of the Ancient Romans. They believed that the soul escapes from an individual at the point of death. For those who know they are ready to pass, the eldest surviving male needs to be present. At the moment of death, the breath is caught with the mouth. Very little is said about the significance of this act; perhaps it is to indicate the transmission of wisdom to the next generation.
In the movie Respire, Cross offers an interpretation that is very close. The memories, knowledge and essence of the person who passed on will do more. The consumed “soul” can be bottled up (which may be a bad thing) and it will prolong the...

The people behind Big Daddy Horror Reviews are throwing their hat into the filmmaking ring. No longer will they just be critiquing movies; they said, "Step aside, we can do this ourselves." And although filming for Trespass at Your Own Risk doesn't begin until 2012, they have a something really impressive up their sleeve…
No, the film doesn't have a trailer yet, doesn't have its own website, but it has something that I, Doctor Gash of Dread Central, immediately fell in love with. Trespass at Your Own Risk features the absolutely stunning Veronika London in a starring role. My goodness, she's easy on the eyes.
Read on for additional details on the film. Apparently there are some other actors and actresses involved in this one…I don't know. Did I mention Veronika London? It's written and produced by some Brandon something dude, but did I mention it stars Veronika London?
Seriously,...

David A. Cross is the director behind the direct to video horror series "Ghostwatcher". While these two films weren't particularly good, they were hits on the video market and did well rental wise ensuring that David could continue on with making horror films. His latest effort to be released to DVD, Respire, is his most ambitious effort to date. David A. Cross has really stepped up his game and turned in a dynamic, energetic film with exuberance and most importantly, a good story. With far less money at his disposal, David A. Cross has made a film that is far better then some of its big budget counterparts like The Crazies, Splice or the A Nightmare on Elm Street remake. With Respire, Susan Jordan (Tracy Teague), a local novelty shop owner and terminally ill woman, has been given little more than six months to live. She searches desperately for a way to extend her life.

Dying woman uncovers a secret method to eternal life after coming into possession of an antique box. However, someone else is willing to kill anyone that stands in the way of them inquiring the formulation behind this eternal life concoction. ....And eternal life comes with some rather unfortunate side effects, namely murderous urges.
Respire is one big old mess of a movie, but it's a glorious mess. With its intriguing premise, Respire draws viewers in. However, Respire is all over the map in terms of style and tone. Whole scenes feel as though they should be in an entirely different film altogether. Respire is jerky, uneven and just all over the place. None of it fully gels together. But, Respire is a tremendously energetic film that rarely lags in pace.

Tracy Teague is a raising scream queen in the independent horror film scene having just starred in David A. Cross's Respire and in the upcoming The Haunting of Pearson Place which co-stars Joe Estevez. Her combination of feminity and a tough take no prisoners attitiude in a way recalls legendary scream queen Linnea Quigley (Night of the Demons) in her prime. With Respire, there was so much going on plot and visual wise. If Respire had a leading lady of lesser talent, they would have got lost in the shuffle. However, Tracy Teague was able to hold her own admist everything that was going on within the film. She stood out and proved herself to be a dynamic screen presence worthy of taking note of and keeping an eye out for to see what she's got going on next. Director/writer: David A. Cross.
Respire is an independent horror film that will release February 15th on DVD and Video-on-Demand. The film stars Tracy Teague ("The Wire"), Ellie Torrezb, ("Scrubs"), Matthew J. Wright, and Jessica Keeler. This is a violent tale of prolonging life through another's demise. Characters are dismantled, double-crossings are the norm, and in the finale an entire town descends into chaos. All of these elements create for a satisfying and heart shocking climax.
The film finds a premise in the ancient Roman myth involving the last breath. The final exhale of a dying person was captured or inhaled to prolong life. Characters Susan (Teague), Raif (Wright) and others spend much of the ninety minutes of the movie trying to procure vials of the deceased. Yet, many of the vials are from death row inmates or psychiatric patients,...

Respire starts in the 30's and quickly fast forwards to present day. In the 30's Dr. Robert Kaminsky discovers that a persons last breath holds the power to curing disease and prolonging life, but with a price. He fins a way to harness the breath in vials. The movie doesn't spend too much time with the past and moves right in to present day with novelty shop Susan Jordan owner played by Tracy Teague who is battling for her life and who has pretty much given up on life. Her character is reckless, rude, chain smokes and comes a cross cold in the beginning. Jordan comes across a box that contains, you guessed it, some of the vials but not all of them. the path takes its course, Jordan becomes healed and her life changes over night but with consequences, as there are other side affects wit her quick recovery...

There aren’t too many motion pictures these days about novelty shop owners who huff the final breath of the dying in order to stay alive, and for the life of me, I can’t understand why. Writer/director David A. Cross — not to be confused with “Arrested Development” and “Mr. Show” star David Cross — tackles this subject matter with his film “Respire”, which will see the light of day courtesy of Mti Home Video this February. If that description isn’t enough to brutally ensnare your interest, behold the embedded trailer, which strongly suggests that the story takes a very epic turn towards the final act. Fine by me. Here are the specifics on the plot: Susan Jordan, a local novelty shop owner and terminally ill woman, has been given little more than six months to live. In a gripping and breathtakingly original film by director David A. Cross, Respire will have you clutching for air as you are sucked into a world of mystery and death. As darkness settles in on the ailing body, that one last breath is the most pivotal moment in life. It was believed in Ancient Roman times that last breath before death can cure disease and prolong life. When the truth about the last breath is found in a small box by a novelty store owner, will she have the power to fend off the seekers of her treasure? Back in 1930, Dr. Randolph Kaminsky committed his life work to understanding the last breath before death and throughout his research he stumbled upon the most remarkable discovery: at the darkest time there is hope. Kaminsky found through his studies that he was able to prove what the Ancient Romans believed for so...
