I watched this movie as a kid a long time ago and I re-watched it again as a now more open minded and critical reviewer. The film is really detailed in the style of anime at this time and the English dubbing of the film is decent as well. The story is somewhat fluid and understandable however I feel like it drags on way too much when it comes to the scene of her escaping Hoppy's family. My favorite scene of this movie is when Miya and Noble come to a group of these pixies singing the song "you never see a pixie cry".

Some critiques of the movie is that even though it has a decent running time the movie could have been longer. What I mean by this is that the original Japanese version was a TV series that had multiple episodes. These episodes are never seen in the film and it appears the editors or whoever released the American version clipped down the episodes to fit a good screen time. This is understandable however since the age range of this film is roughly for 5-12 year olds. I also have to say the voice acting is not terrible but just interesting...especially to the frogs.

Just a for warning for parents, there is a few scary scenes that used to scare me in the movie such as when the "evil Witch Cassandra" tries appearing like Miya's mother in which she forms into her true self or when Miya is chased by a rat / wolf. It's not terribly scary, just something to look out for with parents and little ones.

All in all this movie is great and I absolutely loved it when I was little! I recommend families to watch it as it's a film that's nice and easily enjoyable.
