After finding Bathroom Troll (2018-also reviewed) to be an interesting Horror spin on "bathroom bill" legislation,I decided to continue exploring shorts at the Soho Film Festival,by going down the lake forest road.
Note:The review contains some plot details.
View on the film:
Backed by an ominous score from Andrew Scott Bell, director Ashton Avila & cinematographer Monty Sloan line the wrong-turn road with an icy atmosphere of Autumn reds and an echoing soundtrack, which Avila has bounce round the isolated location, powering up the impression that the pals are not alone.
Stopping the friends and their car dead in their tracks, the screenplay by Richard Tango plucks at the anxiety of the friends as Maggie (played by a very good, lively Sam O. Phillips) takes them off road and deep into the mysterious forest where strange noises come from, which surround the lake forest road.
