Don't believe the low ratings!! There is a small loud but very disturbed group of people who are taking temper tantrum's and down voting this year is because their guy did not get chosen. Bunch of four-year-olds. The writing was excellent the episode fantastic. Must watch.

McGarry performs impeccably

Heroine of story has lost her true purpose and sense of self; choppy, rushed, confusing.
Make a spin-off with the lead, Kevin McGarry and supporting actresses and actors. Teacher storyline has run its course with Erin Krakow.

Setting up for an excellent finale

Gearing up for the end of the love triangle! Most poignant moment for me was Lucas releasing Elizabeth. You could see the heartbreak on both of their faces.
It was interesting to see Lucas and Carson's conversation at the saloon because ultimately they were both grappling with the same dilemma... letting go despite not wanting to.

Elizabeth has returned to her "Hamilton" roots and is starry eyed for flash/ money instead of what WCTH is all about. She has turned into a character that I don't like and is bringing down this show that has in the past been great for family viewing. NOT ANYMORE which is the greater disappointment.
Inconsistent Writing

Former team Nathan here.
I saw the connection the writers were making with Lucas and Elizabeth LAST season. This season Nathan made me furious. I feel sad if all these woman complaining think that what Nathan feels for Elizabeth is true love. You don't keep secrets so big from someone you love not only keep the secret but even avoided the truth and deceived Elizabeth when she point blank asked him about his time where her husband died.
This episode ended the season where it should have been and had been going since last season. Lucas, while I felt he was shady at first, has proven himself honorable and respectful. He turned what was a traditional saloon into a community gathering place where bridal shower and meetings were held. Town gatherings. And a French chef??
It turns out Nathan has been the shady character all along. I look forward to season 9 to see if he finds a way to redeem himself into a respectable honest man and can learn and grow from all he experienced in season 8. I really would like to see him do this. But Elizabeth and Lucas are meant to be together.
The kiss at the end was a beautiful representation of a suppressed love. It's a bit like when a solider comes home from a tour of duty. There is so much passion and deep longing in their kiss being able to finally kiss and hold each other and look into each other's eyes. That's the kind of love I want to have the rest of my life.
I am happy the writers did what they did. There are many of us that are!!

Season 8, Episode 11 - GRAMMAR!!!
suzpom3 May 2021
Elizabeth is the school teacher. Thus, one would expect her to not only know but use correct grammar when speaking.
But no, there she is with little Jack on her lap, both of them covered by a blanket, when she says,"... under this blanket together, nice and cozy and warm, just you and I." Except it should be "just you and ME"! Why? Because the expression is the OBJECT (not the subject) of the sentence. And "me" is objective case, while "I" is subjective! A good "test" is to drop the other person in the sentence and say, "... under this blanket, nice and cozy and warm, just me."
I hear this sort of mistake all the time. Someone once told me that the use of the pronoun "I" when connected to another person, is more "proper"! NO, it is NOT. It is grammatically incorrect if it's the OBJECT of the sentence, not the subject.
When will people, especially script writers, actually LEARN something and use correct grammar in their plays, tv shows and movies? AAARRRGGGH! I learned it when I was a child, and that was a long time ago.

Realistic to finally see Elizabeth in an emotional mess after everything
SunnyDaise1 May 2022
Yes, even Elizabeth has off days! I love that we finally see her crumble after everything she's been through. She had her life mapped out, it didn't go to plan and here she understandably loses it when faced with a decision that's caught her off guard. Great - nobody's perfect!
Not sure what happened to WCTH
tmp-542679 July 2021
Not an enjoyable watch the whole season, Elizabeth changed so much she became unrecognisable. She really belongs back in Hamilton. What the writers have against Nathan I really don't know, they absolutely trashed his character and then went well below the belt with the comment from Elizabeth about Jack. That was cruel and uncalled for.
The WCTH Facebook page was a happy place until last year. They are mainly Team Lucas now and have squeezed out any Team Nathan. They are nasty with their comments against TN fans but also against the actors themselves. It is not a true WCTH Facebook page now. I have never seen such nasty words. As for BB and JT well they made a colossal hash of the series, but their arrogance shone through with the comments and antagonism towards some of the fan base. Not becoming of a producer and a writer.

NOTE BAD RATINGS CAME AFTER SEASON FINALE!
Nellie191625 April 2022
Most of the bad reviews and ratings came after a certain group didn't get their desired choice in the finale. Had the choice been a 10 it would have easily gotten 10s from them. That said, this episode was a 10 for me for one reason - Chris McNally.
His performance in the finale scene marked not only something I wanted to see in Lucas's arc but also was delivered impeccably. I cheered when I saw this occur, even though Lucas was my guy for Elizabeth. And, here, a year later, I still love and rewatch that scene.
Krakow & McGarry also deliver wonderful performances.
The storyline of the triangle was a painful one to live through and some people ended up disappointed. But, in this last episode before that finale, the team was till churning out terrific performances and the writing, in retrospect, was superb. Don't just 11 until you see 12 and can take the whole into account.

Wish I could give zero stars.

There is about an hour I wish I could get back. The story is chaotic, messy with open ended stories, characters that no longer act like they did for 7 seasons. Apparently the actor playing the school teacher is tired of the role and wants to jazz it up by adding in materialistic things that were one of the foundations of the series, people, relationships, faith over material things. Seems like now they realize they made a huge mistake to give the teacher a child that they have no idea how to carry that story forward. The actor clearly does not have children and the directors are not helping her out. But one of the better episodes of this horrible season, wish I had not wasted time to watch this season at all.
