“Satan is his father and his name is Adrian!” shouts the coven leader Roman Castevet at the end of 1968’s. Rosemary’s Baby. “He shall overthrow the mighty and lay waste their temples. He shall redeem the despised and wreak vengeance in the name of the burned and the tortured.”
Even when making allowances for Roman’s (Sidney Blackmer) understandable delight at seeing his plan come to fruition, that’s a lot of expectation to put on a newborn, no matter who his father might be. Unfortunately, the sequels chronicling Adrian’s rise to power didn’t quite live up to those expectations. Neither the 1976 TV movie Look What’s Happened to Rosemary’s Baby, in which Patty Duke subs in for Mia Farrow, nor original author Ira Levin’s follow-up book Son of Rosemary (1997) manages to deliver what Roman promised.

Two years have gone by since a psychological thriller called Apartment 7A – which Relic (watch it Here) director Natalie Erika James helmed for Paramount Players and A Quiet Place collaborators Platinum Dunes and John Krasinski – wrapped filming. Soon after filming came to an end, rumors began to circulate that Apartment 7A was secretly a prequel to the 1968 classic Rosemary’s Baby… and now those rumors have been proven to be true! Deadline broke the news that Apartment 7A will finally be making its way out into the world this fall, as it’s set to receive a Paramount+ release in the U.S. and in select international markets, and in their report they confirmed that this is indeed a Rosemary’s Baby prequel. Maybe the fact that the Omen prequel The First Omen went over well with viewers inspired Paramount to finally release this horror prequel.

Few horror movies in the last several decades have left quite as much a psychological scar as "Rosemary's Baby" from 1968, a widespread cultural obsession among genre fans that has now led to a prequel film called "Apartment 7A," which has long been in the works and finally has a release window.
We first heard about "Apartment 7A" back in 2022, which was meant to tell the story of the eponymous apartment before Rosemary Woodhouse ever moved in and experienced the story's awful events. First told in author Ira Levin's best-selling novel, the main setting of that old, eerie-looking building on Central Park West ranks high among the likes of the Overlook Hotel from "The Shining," the Nostromo in "Alien," and other famous horror locales. Now, we're finally getting an origin story -- of sorts -- with ties going all the way back to the controversial Roman Polanski-directed classic.

Last year, New Line Cinema went all-in on a partnership with Barbarian (watch it Here) writer/director Zach Cregger and the film’s producers at BoulderLight Pictures. New Line came out the winner in a bidding war over Cregger’s next film, a mysterious horror project called Weapons. They signed a first look deal with BoulderLight Pictures, tasking the company with developing high concept genre projects for them. And they gave a greenlight to the thriller Companion, produced by BoulderLight and Cregger. Last May, it was announced that Pedro Pascal of The Last of Us had signed on to star in Weapons – but Pascal had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts with his Marvel movie Fantastic Four, so he has since been replaced by Dune, Avengers: Infinity War, and No Country for Old Men star Josh Brolin. Julia Garner has joined Josh Brolin on Weapons, the new film from the director of Barbarian, Zach Cregger.
Julia Garner has been announced as the leading name in the ensemble for Zach Cregger’s soon-to-shoot horror project, Weapons.
We first learned about the film around a year ago when it became the subject of a heated bidding war. Cregger was coming of the back of 2022’s Barbarian, one of the buzziest horror films of that year. Barbarian didn’t just announce an exciting new voice in the horror genre, it also performed commercially earning $45m worldwide, amounting to around ten times its production budget.
With horror being seen as one of the only remaining genres to reliably pull audiences into cinemas, the success of Cregger’s film saw several studios keen to secure his future services. New Line CInema duly won out and around a year ago, the filmmaker’s next feature was announced.

Julia Garner, the three-time Emmy-winning co-star of “Ozark,” looks to be joining Marvel’s next big bet, the relaunch of the First Family of Comics, “Fantastic Four.” As per Deadline, she’ll be appearing as the grooviest of villains, the Silver Surfer. But before you can reach for your podcast mic and shout about how producers are ruining movies by making them all woke, please note that a female version of the Silver Surfer, known as Shalla-Bal, does exist in various splinters of the comics’ multiverse. So there.

Ozark actor Julia Garner has reportedly signed a deal to play Silver Surfer in Matt Shakman’s take on Marvel’s Fantastic Four.
For a long time, there were lots of questions about which four actors would be lined up to fill the iconic blue onesies worn by the Fantastic Four, Marvel’s family of superheroes due to make their MCU debut next summer. Matt Shakman, the mind behind Marvel Studios’ WandaVision is directing the project, which might just relaunch the MCU as ‘must watch’ moviegoing following two or three years where over-saturation and questionable levels of quality control have seen the films and TV shows dip in popularity.
Back in February that casting would be confirmed and much like the studio’s choice of director, there was a feeling of real promise regarding the actors that had been selected to embody one of Marvel’s most iconic set of characters.

Matt Shakman’s The Fantastic Four is reported to have hired Ozark star Julia Garner in the film. All the way back in 2021, we heard that a new take on Universal’s werewolf character was coming, with Leigh Whannell, director of The Invisible Man in the director’s chair. However, a year later, Ryan Gosling was in the title role and Whannell was out, replaced by regular Gosling collaborator, Derek Cianfrance.

CAA has signed rising British star Rosy McEwen.
The actor, who was named to Variety’s 10 Actors to Watch for 2020, was not previously represented in the U.S., and will now be represented by the agency in all areas.
In 2022, McEwen won the British Independent Film Award for best lead performance for “Blue Jean.” She starred as Jean, a closeted teacher pushed to the brink when a new student threatens to expose her sexuality as Margaret Thatcher’s Conservative government plans to pass a law stigmatizing gays and lesbians in 1988 England.
Variety exclusively announced that McEwen would take on the role — her first lead — in the film, written and directed by Georgia Oakley. “Jean is a woman forced to wear multiple masks in the different areas of her life, and as such she has this sort of taut, cloistered energy that Rosy has absolutely mastered,” Oakley stated at the time.

Three-time Emmy-winning Ozark star Julia Garner emerged as Madonna’s choice to play her after proving a standout in a singing and dancing bootcamp.

Julia Garner is the top choice to play Madonna in an upcoming biopic at Universal Pictures sources confirmed to Deadline. The Emmy-winner has been the front-runner since the top of the year but insiders add the reason an offer hasn’t gone out yet is there are still several things in play which include the budget as well as some creative factors which include how long the film is. Madonna is directing the film based on a script by Diablo Cody and has been meticulous in the casting process putting talent through a boot camp that included testing on dancing and singing.
The studio has made it clear it needed at the very least a name audiences recognize and Garner has been that person for some time given her leading lady status following star making roles in Ozark and most recently Inventing Anna. She is currently filming the Paramount thriller Apartment 7A.
