Riley (Jackie Gleason) receives a birthday call from his mother. Peg (Rosemary DeCamp) then gives him her present- an extra large handkerchief. Babe (Gloria Winters) gives him a shoe tree. Junior walks in apparently oblivious to Riley's birthday. Riley overhears Junior on the phone with his girlfriend Marilyn Morris (Ann Burr) and makes out that Junior is wanting to get him a pricy robe, but doesn't have the money. Riley schemes with neighborhood amateur psychologist Waldo Binny (Bobby Jellison) on ways to leave him the money. When Riley discovers that the robe was for Marilyn's father, he is hurt. The family tries to cover for Junior, leading to comical confusion with Mr. Morris (Charles Evans, "Demetrius and the Gladiators").

Can I have a robe?

It's Riley's birthday. Peg and Babs remembers, bur Riley is upset when his son announces he was going to the store to buy some rat poison. Obviously, he thinks, Junior forgot his birthday. But later Riley overhears a conversation between Junior and his girlfriend. Maybe he didn't forget after all.
I think this episode would have been better titled "Five bathrobes." But I'm not telling how he ends up with five. It's comical to watch Riley in his prideful, left-out state of mind. The ending is perfect for this episode.
The only character missing was Mr. Gillis.
