a tree

Too didacticist for my taste but a nice film about translations of memories. A tree, two men, a dialogue reflecting experiences of each of them. Nice and touching and decent and bitter and hopeful. Wise - gentle manner to convert painful experiences in simple stories.

Good grief. Who were the judges? They must have been collected from the critically subnormal.

Firstly the situation. We are asked to believe that two completely separate men turned up at the same time of the same day due to incidents concerning their past involving this particular place. And after a gap of several years in both cases. Just not credible.

Then the script. Absolutely banal and stilted. Not true to life at all. People just don't speak like that and neither do they interact with people they don't know in such a way. This was an obstacle that could not be overcome by the two rather mediocre actors. Already deficient their lines made sure that their poor skills would add nothing to the film.

The props? Some "intellectual" book carried by one and a small box carrying human ashes by the other. The ashes must have been shared out beforehand. There's no way that box contained a whole human.

I got to the end. I might just as well not have as it was a waste of time.
