I don't understand why people think they've put in a fake laugh track. There is a live studio audience. Just like when The Big Bang Theory was on. My brother and sister-in-law went to a taping in Hollywood and were part of a similar audience of TBBT. That being said, during one of new Frasier episodes, there were several overeager audience members being overly loud when the jokes weren't particularly funny.
Ok - about the show. I would say that "relief" is the best word that came to mind. Is it perfect? No. Just like S1 of the original Frasier, it took a while for the characters to gel together. For being the first two shows with a mostly new cast in the new Frasier, I think they did great.
I have high hopes for Frasier 2.0. Maybe "And Just Like That" can hire these writers for when they have spare time. This new Frasier "feels" like the old one, whereas many of the characters in AJLT seemed to have had frontal lobotomies during the last 20 years (Miranda, anyone?)
Kelsey, thanks for staying true to the story of Frasier. I'm betting that by Episode 5, this is going to feel fully baked, and let's hope this can last for many years.
