The film was done as a fun, inspirational experiment by the filmmakers. It was conceived and written in one night. Produced, crewed and cast in five days. And initial photography lasted only a weekend. Crew were racing against sundown on the second day and finished within minutes of the sunset.
Co-writer/director Kevin Kölsch plays the lead villain Lloyd "Cutty" Crothers. The character was inspired by Gary Oldman's pimp in True Romance (1993), as well as the Dennis Hopper character from 'Blue Velvet'.
The twin sisters of Edith and Jenny were both played by actress 'Meghan Miller'. The filmmakers created the illusion of two girls using basic tricks of photography. The younger Edith and Jenny were actual identical twin sisters.
In one scene, both girls are apparently on screen at the same time. When in fact, Jenny is being played by sound recorder Joshua Chaplinsky, who wore a wig and doubled for the twin.
The acid burned face that Lloyd wears in the end of the film, was actually a make-up effect that co-director Kevin Kölsch created previously for another short film of his. Ironically, 'Meghan Miller' also stars in that film, and wears the mask herself in a scene.
