- TriviaThe 747 involved in the Gigantosaurus fracas was retired British Airways 747-236B G-DBXJ. It was modified for use as a prop in the movie Casino Royale. Its inboard engines were replaced with a mock-up of a pair of engines and its outboard engines were replaced with simulated fuel tanks. It was given the fictitious registration N88892 and was located at Dunsfold.
- GoofsWhen the juvenile dinosaur comes through the anomaly, the Documentary Presenter identifies it as a "...velociraptor...from the late cretaceous". This is correct, and he then goes on to say that it's "...eighty million years old". However, the estimated range of the velociraptor species is 75 to 71 million years ago. Furthermore, the Giganotosaurus predated velociraptors by some fifteen million years, so unless the other end of the anomaly is shifting, the two creatures could not have come from the same time and place. In any case, the chronological age of any living thing passing through an anomaly is not changed by the number of years it has traversed.

But beside these irritating bad decisions there were still good moments. For example the beginning was very emotional and you could feel how sad they all were. Connor crying over the artifact, Jennifer hanging around In fact I don't know if it's the knight within that spoke but I enjoyed her short scene with the creature. How can you resist a damsel in distress ? Moreover it was interesting to see her struggle all along trying to control things, take the right decisions, find the strength to enter the creature lair His interaction with the dark rider was specially enjoyable and I think he's a great addition to the cast. However the character development wasn't flawless and I didn't see the point of the whole Abby and Connor side story. They should have focused on other plots instead because it just felt they were forced to include the scenes when we don't really care anymore about them. What about Connor's new invention ? He came up with it after falling from his bed ? The reporter was also a bit annoying because I think journalists aren't all bad. I mean there's nothing wrong with uncovering the truth. However denouncing journalism abuses was probably the strongest argument of the episode.
As for the anomaly arc some interesting ideas were developed. First now it's obvious Christine and James don't really work together when she's supposed to be her boss. So like Helen it seems she has her own agenda. Her first scene with the soldier was great and reminded me of Independence Day. The phone call one was also good and quite intriguing. For example I can see Christine and Helen working together, or at least on the surface. And what about Sarah's new mission ? However Captain Becker is the only new character that hasn't grown up on me yet. I think he lacks charisma and made me realize how good Stephen was. They shouldn't have replaced the hunter by a boyscout.
So overall I was disappointed by this episode. I already mentioned it and I know Primeval is family-friendly but it doesn't work anymore for me. I'm a huge fan of films like Mimic so for me a scary CGI creature rendered in bright day light is a waste of money. But hopefully there're still some trump cards to use, like the new story elements and characters. Moreover the previews revealed some interesting upcoming events so for now I think I'll stick around a little longer
