Stressful, scenic parable
leobardolouisrodriguez18 March 2022
This is not a horror movie, though at times it resembles one: Darkened woods, coarse locals, rusty things, wolves (possibly), a lack of cell service, plenty of bickering, dwindling food.

The scenery is lovely until it is not and turns on the barely likable protagonists. I spent much of the movie stressing over their choices, concepts of charity, and, interestingly, their ignorance. Sometimes you want to applaud the effort they put into providing aid to those who need it, but more often you scoff when they remark about iPads or sodomy or test-driving a Range Rover.

Or when you realize that the bags of supplies they are handing out are unnecessarily difficult to open.

I liked it. It was grating, though, and now that it made its points I don't think I'd watch it again. But still recommended.

Nice atmosphere, but an offroader won't buy the "adventure"
AlexVoinica892 July 2022
I rolled over my eyes several times. If you have an off-road car for some years, you are prepared for the mountain. The guy looks like he has experience but makes some mistakes like a novice who was in the mountains the first time with his off-road vehicle. It ruined the atmosphere.

A delightful slice of life
cix_one17 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
... and like real life, the slice in question is jumbled. The movie uses the premise of a (relatively short) disruption in the routine of its main characters to make the audience think through questions of morality and life's tradeoffs, as the story unfolds. I chuckle when I see other reviewers accusing the movie of being "too predictable" - that is not the case. No terrible things happen as a result of the characters' occasional bad decisions, like they would in any other garden variety horror/action movie with the same setting. More like in real life, things end up being ok and life moves on.

The director takes us up close and personal to experience the anxiety and the humanity of the three main characters. Even when their decisions are not ideal when judged from the comfort of our LazyBoys, we follow why the characters do what they do. The movie depicts two worlds, one affluent, fast, and a tad self-righteous. The other is slow, stuck in time, and poor - but clinging to survive with dignity and be self-sufficient. Normally these two worlds whirl by each other with only superficial points of contact. But because of an unplanned turn of events, people from one world are stuck with people from the other - and with each other. The superficiality of the human contact in the modern world starts to come into relief, if only for one night, and people are forced to have actual interactions and make uncomfortable decisions.

I can see how the ending can elicit strong reactions from people in need of closure. To me, it said very powerfully "... and life moves on". The past 24 hours, as uncomfortable as they were, will be no more than an interesting safari story told time and time again at cocktail parties.

The absolute delight in this movie (and I left that for desert!) was the character Kente (and of course the man who played Kente). It's unbelievable how a real life woodcutter with no formal training delivers such a strong performance. I would be the first to nominate him for best performance in a supporting role... Even for that performance alone (but of course, not only), you must see this film for yourself!

All natural!
mrs_microphone19 September 2021
The movie tells the story of 3 friends stuck in the muds of helping secluded villagers somewhere in Romania (although this could happen anywhere).

The director and screenwriters have the grace not to force anything. The people are real, what happens is real, the dialogue is real and beautifully deliverd by the actors. For Romanians, the dialogue is especially savory as it's perfectly mirroring how we speak to one another.

The character of Kente is very well assimilated into the screenplay. We can feel that the "actor" was directed to bring himself into the story and that is both surprising and delightful.

The film is a comedy although no jokes are made. It's also a drama.

The creators shed no judgment on what happens and leave their audience with a lot of things to ponder upon.

Lovely, lovely film!

I Gave This Film a 4
busterk-1266621 March 2022
I have no problems with people disliking this film, what is the problem for me is when people just give a film a 1.

For me, for a film to get a 1, it would contain amateurish acting, a script that goes nowhere, poorly framed shots, bad editing, be poorly lit and characters you don't care about.

The ending of the film summarizes it. The director doesn't care about the characters and neither do you.

Too close for comfort
slabihoud29 October 2021
The problem with "Intregalde" is that it constantly compels us to make decisions while watching the people on the screen make their decisions, theirs and my are mostly not the same. This is not an easy task. You start to hate every one of the four main characters for a while until you stop because one of the others suddenly begins to get on your nerves too. This all is part of the story.

The other problem is that film critics seem to have a hard time to decribe the film. While I was waiting in the cinema for the film to start, I heard people sitting next to me discuss if this is going to be a horror movie or not! It is far from that though it plays with our fears. Our "heroes" are plain normal people and once the got stuck in every sense of the word, they begin to behave illogical. I really don't want to say too much about it because not to know what is going to happen is so important. Please check it out for yourself!

Dismal
albatros2211 December 2022
Well-acted and intelligent, but viewing liable to cause abject depression. I am a mild-mannered person, however I found myself actually shouting at the screen for the old man in the story to shut up and go away. I was thankful, if irritated, that so much of the film was shot in impenetrable darkness. I am not sure that quality of darkness was intentional, but one watches a black screen for much of the seemingly endless 104 minutes. There must be other ways to convey such a story without alienating the viewer quite so fiercely. One felt bludgeoned by the argumentative and frustrated characters, who are largely unsympathetic, and should not be. This is a film, I believe, about backwardness and thwarted humanitarian intentions - a pertinent and timely issue. It's a pity to feel so indifferent and aggravated at the - slightly empty - end of such a film.

social horror
linistea6 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
A kind of horror movie, but the horror is subtle and social, is about time passing, performative philanthrophy, poverty and alienation gap between generations and social classes, a Romanian movie. Understated and very well acted. One of the main actors is not a professional actor, he seems to just bring his personal life and story on the screen. The scene of the washing is a touching sensitive and gentle moment, of pure humanity. The director is exploring sensitive issues without judgment, as an anthropologist, Not for people who are looking for entertainment or fast speed developing stories. Recommended for people who have attention for minimal human stories, the ones almost unsaid.

Film bun,nice movie
herea-345483 July 2022
The movie was actually good and some moments had a lot of tension but im afraid the ending could have been better, honestly the whole movie could have gone completely in another direction sometime in the second part and become a huge thriller horror but hey..it was more of a drama somehow..this way and realistic story that could happen to anyone anywhere.

Waste of time
doris_femeia_noastra30 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The ideea sounds good but the execution is terrible.

1. The cars and some jackets have a logo on them, 'Extreme' something. I am guessing that this is some sort of 4x4 organisations.

Why haven't the people from that organisation been consulted about how offroading works? The second time they got stuck was really dumb and predictable. Just stop and at least try to move the log.

2. In many places the story is way too predictable.

3. The language in many scenes is dirty for no reason. Romanians swear a lot but not when they talk about insignificant things. When your car gets stuck, it's understandable to swear but not when you just driving around.

4. When one of the girls (not in blue jacket) went to take a piss, she went down, near the river. Why would you risk going down there when you have a whole empty road where you can piss. It looked cool I guess but still dumb.

5. When they left after the old man, everyone and their mother knew that the girl in the blue jacket will not hear them leave. Of course she would freak out and cry.

6. When they arrived at the old's man house, they wanted to show how the old man was treated which was ok but the scene where he was washed took waaay to long. Totally unnecessary.

7. The ending is probably the worst ending in movie history...ever

These are from the top of my head and thats good enough. I don't wanna think about this movie anymore.

Just don't watch it
alpigunner14 August 2021
If you have some time to loose, it's the best movie for it. The begining seems interesting, but it's a nonsens story. Awful.

Waste of time.
geppy31130 November 2021
It is full of nonsens, no begining no ending, it is like they did not have any scrypt. It has the same problem that most of romanian movies have, bad sound, when is dark you cant see anything and half of the movie is like this, no story. I belive this is my last romanian movie ever. I want my one an half hour back.

Disappointing
eleanila12 February 2022
I have watched the movie coz of the cast, Alex Bogdan and Ilona are some of my favourites. But I was so disappointing. Seriously, it is a nonsense movie. It has no beginning and no end. The characters have no context, we know mostly nothing about them. The movie is neither drama, or thriller or comedy or anything. I was hoping for a thriller at some point but then nothing, I was hoping for a drama with people helping others, showing maybe the hard life in Romani for those that live in the country side, but no, then I hoped for something like a comedy with such an intro... but also no! I nonsense movie, I do not understand who would pay to support such movie to be made after reading the script. It is a waste of time. I am sorry!

Get Lost
vhqwp30 June 2022
A poorly written movie that is, ultimately, a road to nowhere. The rave reviews from some critics are obviously praising the movie simply because of where it was made.

Waste of time and gas of not so bad actors...what a pity to waste resources of an already suffering terminal disease of the state owned system of producing ....kind of movies...sad!

Terribly boring
irinadinuispas6 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Movie start is interesting, the setting, the landscapes, some of the actors, but there is no actual action. There is no story, no begging, no end. The more you watch, dissapointment keeps growing. Whenever there is doubt, the characters are just eating pufuleti... I have no other review to make for this movie and the comment section requires me to write another 200 somethijg characters. My advice is to stop watching it while you still can, not like I did and watch till the end in hopes of recovery or the wow/awe effect. Because of this movie, I stopped hoping for better Romanian movies and almost didn't want to watch Teambuilding which was way better than this one, and I had very low expectations.

disgusting and gross language
madscorpio7774 October 2021
Why such gross language has to be named as art? It isn't.

And no, our common language is not like was presented in the act.

As usually, i will take a break from romanian movies. 10 years long, i hope will be sufficient. Thanks for reading.
