The Boys: Civil War
MamadNobari9710 June 2022
One of the best episodes of the whole show.

Reveals after reveals, backstabbing and double-crossing every minute.

With the amount of reveals, action scenes, double-crossing and shocking moments that happen in this episode, it's literally impossible to talk about any scene without spoiling them.

I can only say this, every plot point and even character is not gonna be the same after this episode and the dynamic of The Boys' team is changed probably forever, and you bet that the dynamic of The Seven is also changed.

Outstanding

Only halfway through the season and this episode had the weight of a finale. Everything fell apart beautifully and i can't wait to see how it all gets fixed.... or more broken.

Give Antony Starr (Homelander) an Emmy already!!!!
matthewmcginnis-0190411 June 2022
The writers of this episode of The Boys have managed to craft an episode jam-packed with tension, humor, twists and heart all in an hour. The cast shine in their roles as always but (no surprise) Homelander steals every scene leaving me amazed and exhausted from the tension.

Someone give this man an Emmy!

A New Game
tristan_1910 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Episode 4 is one of the best episodes of the show. It's heartfelt and provoking. The Boys are back at it. The investigation parts are always some of the best of the series, and they are so well done. A lot of cool twists in this episode. Vicky fears for Zoe and throws Stan Edgar under the bus, just to get to a truly tragic moment where she turns the child into a Supe for protection.

There is a fantastic Kimiko fight choreography, but at the same time, it just has its toll on our protagonist, and it's so sad. Talking about fight scenes, The Deep going in against A-Train was surprising, but absolutely exciting. Last season, the two were practically allies or working together to get back into the Seven, but now the dynamics are shifting completely, and it's gripping for the audience. Both actors are playing their part to perfection.

Butcher and co discover Soldier Boy is alive in this episode, just as the group witnesses Billy's abilities. It's truly a shocker and an holy hell moment for everyone, and the reaction of Frenchie, M. M. and Kimiko are insane. But no wait, it's not over. Hughie comes in and has abilities too. V24 has been succesful for him, and the scene where he teleports and ends up buck naked is hilarious.

Now, the last scene. Starlight finding out Alex's ripped body is iconic and the statement of this season. We have now reached the halfway point, and Homelander just layed down the law. Poor Annie. She is stuck and cannot do anything, and she is losing power. Homelander knows about the conspiracies and little plans. It's almost hopeless now. At this point, you just want Annie to snap and go flipping crazy. Because she deserves a win, and the tension is just building, and building and building... You can see it in her eyes.

Need I say more?

Best episode of the season so far.

I don't want any bad thing to happen to Mon Ceur though.

At the grand finale of the episode, when homelander has something to show the viewers, you'd just know that there's something terrible...

Payoff
gokulmadhu-3753710 June 2022
This episode was constantly entertaining, and really gave us some much needed payoff after the comparatively slow paced buildup in the previous episodes.

Tension was on point throughout and the story was able to keep up with the phenomenal acting too.

Looking forward to more episodes like this, and if so season 3 may match upto season 1 or at least close to it.

Dark times we're living in...
calebsmoke10 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Man, this one gets dark. This may be the "Empire Strikes Back" of The Boys continuum. I mean that not only in the "phenomenal transitional piece" way, which it certainly is, but also the "okay, the bad guys may legitimately win this" way.

The Boys are on their last leg. The worst side of Hughie is coming out. Homelander is making key move after key move in his chess match with Edgar/Annie/Maeve. A semi-significant character (who, by the way, I think they handled masterfully with his fake love comment) just got slaughtered. Soldier Boy is back and possibly an anti-supe formula. Neuman is team Homelander (for now). So much is happening.

This is a big one, and one of the best episodes of the show, after only the S2 finale, in my opinion. Well done, and I'll be anxiously awaiting the next installment.

There's not many shows that get better with age.
atres0410 June 2022
That's the title says there's not a ton of shows that continue to get better as they age but this one is the exception. GREAT episode with Twists and shockers.

What's the buzz?... DIABOLICAL!!!
ssvfolder-110 June 2022
Does this show even have bad episodes? Amazing Gore and excellent betrayals in some amazing "The Boys" fascion.

This series works even better than the comics. It's absolutely unpredictable, genious and like a breath of fresh air, which is especially noticeable comparing to absolutely awful Obi Wan series that just came out.

As for the episode goes, one of my definite favourites was Jamie. Such a cutie. Without giving too much spoilers.

Great work, please keep it up!!!

[7.3] The culprit of unsatisfaction
cjonesas17 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Episode 4: Aside Karen Fukuhara and Anthony Starr's very (very) good acting, the bunch of hi-quality scenes involving their characters and Kimiko's crazy display while nicely dressed (suits her very much), the whole rest of the episode brought nothing and no particular emotions whatsoever, for me at least.

Something huge is missing in this season of The Boys and IMO that's the flow. The vibe of the episode(s) is disjointed with weak, cut-off, island plots, each having a little screentime and that would be the culprit of unsatisfaction.

So far, it's been forgettable
Bibiliography11 June 2022
Season three opened with a whimper with an absence of the magic that made one and two electrifying. I mean it's still miles ahead of other TV shows but I find it a bit staid despite the gore et al.

"Huey, this better work!!!"
Geekofriendly10 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The tension is rising all the way up to 11, the stakes are nerve-wracking, whatever happens will be dire, the bad guys are more petrifying than ever, there is absolutely no exoneration for anyone anymore.

Kudos to the writers for unhinging Homelander!

I can't imagine what's in store for us for the remainder of this season, let alone the recently renewed S4. But given their track-record, "The Boys" do and will reign as the supreme escapism TV can offer.

We are reaching the peak of this series, what it's all been leading up to, and my god! Am I happy to be living in this time period right about now!

Every character contributes as much as possible to the progression of the story, taking the entire series to a new level of sophistication and appeal.

It parodied a certain advertisement. And it had me collapsed on the ground from laughing.
UnrealNorthie10 June 2022
Seriously though, The Boys in general is a fantastic series that so much more than just about superheroes being bad. It's social commentary done right. And the way it does that through comedy is fantastic. And this season thus far really highlights that. That's all I wanted to say.

Damn, who would've thought that this episode will be as amazing as it turns out to be, the last few episodes felt a bit slow and underwhelming but this one just shattered the plot all together. Can't wait for episode 5!!

Drama, gore,action,development,comedy it has EVERYTHING
bashauwert-2147410 June 2022
This episode blowed my mind after a slow but understandable start this episode absolutely delivers. Almost all the characters has character development. The story gets even darker after a few events and some characters have to make big decisions that will impact their lives and those around them.

This episode mix everything so nicely with some good jokes right before or after a gory action scene.

It also has some good twist which I didn't saw coming. I don't wanna spoil anything but this episode is showing that season 3 is gonna be amazing.

For all those salty reviews out there ill put you on my fries.

Perfect way to set up the second half of the season.
Mike_Hunt_itches10 June 2022
This is how you make a great season of television. This episode is the pivotal moment in the season, and I'm ready for the second half. Easily one of my favorite episodes of the show. If not my favorite. I find it hilarious that a satire on super heroes is better than the garbage we've been getting from Disney the last few years.

downfall of the seven
MiloSuperSpesh10 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
An episode that tries to be way more cleverer than it actually is;

So how to review this episode, well shot, directed, acting ability is more of the same, 'less is more' approach which is a poor excuse to hide limited range.

Betrayal, gory deaths, a few twists because thats cool and interesting, but it's all lacking just a litle subtlety, yes the show is full on but some moments could be done with a little more tact for pacing and allowing the viewer a few seconds of respite, to catch up, other wise it's just yet another shot gun blast of desposition to the face.

And once you get around that, between action set pieces it's filled with irrelavant monologues and preaching, or creepy sexual tension like the writers forget gore isn't enough for r ratings.

And then they throw in soldier boy's arrival in to the present day in the final few minutes...like as a cheap pay off for suffering through it.

But if you stil watching the show at this point then you should know by know it's not shakespear or war and peace.

Almost okay episode
namob-4367310 June 2022
I think The boys has been getting worse and worse and the shocking novelty of the first season is long since faded. Almost everything with this show is horrible, although one can still praise the acting which is top.

This episode however was not bad. Still far from any good TV, but here we have a resemblance of a story, the acting is great as usual, and the episode is perfectly put together creating tension and a good flow. We also see a very interesting ending, and the story seem like almost in a development stage.

By far the best episode of the season (which is not really that difficult) and it almost gave a bit of hope. I still don't think they can save this trash, but one silver cloud is better than nothing.

6/10 and a big step upward for the season.

How can this series be so good!
ha77y73ad9722 June 2022
So many series start to falter around this part of a series but i can wholeheartedly say that this is not the case with this series. Every time that i watch one of these episodes i thought it cannot be beaten but they have out done their selves yet again.

Theres one scene that continues to push the boundary of tv/ streaming services not in a cultural way but in what is actually allowed to be shown. No complaints here it was hilarious. So much of the story is so well intertwined with the jokes and social commentary its just a joy to watch. Not preachy but also not teaching the audience to suck eggs. Also a super hamster that borrows into someone's head was just something that can only happen on the Boys.

The twist perfectly ends this episode with the overall plot/ story/ emery still to be revealed. Another week cannot come quick enough but with the amount of tv shows being released each day at the moment this is a great time for a pop culture fan!

This episode was absolutely nuts, building off of what the premier has already. It explores new character developments that will be exiting to see in the future.
