Fantastic return
cv540427 June 2021
They need to do this with a bunch of real world seasons. I'd love to see some fan favorites come back and see how much they've changed (or haven't looking at you Becky) for better or worse. All the people fell right back into it and even if it's a pure nostalgia trip it was a great one.

Watch Season 3

Warning: Spoilers
Was blown away by this homecoming reunion. A lot of heavy and necessary discussions. What a great collection of human beings. Was hoping Kelley would open up since she was quiet and I loved her in the original and was bummed she checked out. Wait for her reveal - just lovely.

I'm Here for Season 1
te_naya_j28 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
First and foremost, season 1 has always been special and the reunion was no exception. Coincidentally Becky showed up as Karen - a spoiled and entitled woman above constructive criticism and being open to an experience not hers. Her storming out like a spiked child only made it all worse. Her response, not an uncommon one from "progressive whites" who don't feel they are a part of a VERY large, deeply ingrained, problem; turned and made Kevin feel bad/question his POV. Black Americans, who were brought here as commerce, laws created to belittle and dehumanize, systems created to keep them underfoot, have NO reason to feel bad about speaking this truth where whites feel uncomfortable. Discomfort of a conversation does not trump lives being taken whether by cop, jail, or miseducation.

I was 14 years old when season 1 aired and watching clips in the reunion from the original show is now making me realize Kevin's impact on my youth and way of thinking about the progress and constant overachievements of those slave descendants who have made countless and invaluable impacts on this country that continues to disregard them and dehumanize them. When learning American history in school, the stories of Blacks never seemed to quite add up. Kevin validated those feelings and questions - inspiring to dig deeper and learn more. Thank you Kevin Powell and MTV for giving him a platform ... even if it was a mistake.

why am (I) crying!?

Just only watched S1 E1. Doubt I'll watch further seasons or episodes of season 1 unless it's free. But the premiere episode was fantastic. It brought me right back to 90s in 8th grade. Very emotional. Awesome seeing this cast of ppl, that changed television (not necessarily for the better, because I loved music) forever.

Too much gaslighting and projecting.
sxysqcch15 January 2022
I absolutely loved season 1! They had great vibes with a little controversy. But this season sucked! Tami gave it more views due to her popularity, but she was so narcissistic and it seemed as though Beth A and Beth S just fell in line w/ whatever she said or did. Annoying at most. I truly hope season 3 is better. So far I prefer the challenge allstars to this show!

Tami ruined it

Warning: Spoilers
2nd season was filed with woke mob mentality. David is definitely unlikable, but that doesn't mean he doesn't make sense. He avoided a BLM conversation and was persecuted for not being black enough. Then Tami called her husband to assault David. The scared white people on the show were obviously too scared to speak up. Probably scared of cancel culture. Either way, Tami started out annoying and it only progressed throughout the season. She wanted it all about her and her politics. I hope the 3rd season will be much better.

season 2 bullies
amyfleck7 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Season 2, omg what a bunch of a-holes. They're all bullies in geriatric form. Tami's the worst. Unbelievable she chastised David for pulling some covers from her 30 years ago (which Im sorry, but it sure looked like a joke that EVERYONE was laughing about at the time) and then calls her husband to come beat him up over him not agreeing with her BLM racial agenda. His racial ideals were miles ahead of any of them, wanting to put race in the past, which is exactly what needs to happen for this country to find any kind of unity. Beth S is so condescending, constantly talking about 'fixing' him and his 'self-destruction'. I didn't see a problem with him other than being a little annoying and antagonistic at times. He got drunk 1 time and everyone is screaming alcoholic. People who are alcoholics dont have loving supportive relationships with their kids like he has. The rest of the cast are just a bunch of sheep. All of these people, aside from David, should be ashamed of themselves.

Gaslighting and "wokelessness"
ericdhall7719 January 2022
Closeted racism for the woke agenda. Some things are left better in the past. These people are the same people. 30 years didn't change that. You have have the same misunderstandings and two way racism as you did back then. The only thing that has changed is media and politicians.

Terrible
Only watched a few episodes of the Venice series in 93 and glad because 30 years later it's even worse. Toxic people, and they are on your TV. Tami is the worst and couldn't stand to listen to her voice or the negativity coming out of it. Why MTV is not relative. Don't waste your time.

New Orleans
backwoodsgnar21 March 2023
One star for seeing so many people grow into the best versions of themselves EXCEPT FOR JULIE. She did the same cringey, harassment and borderline being a sexual assaulted in the original New Orleans SEASON......The way they should have just thrown her out immediately will not be forgotten. She literally tried to pin an assault on someone trying to help her. Disgusting. She even admitted to causing drama on purpose, martyring herself for LITERALLY NO REASON. And I bet the very fact people hate her for who she really truly is, is an affirmation to her. WITH Julie's hatred affirmation aside. DAVID absolutely found himself in the years behind and melissa did too Everyone else really didnt change except for being themselves, but older. Kelley I think also had some good adulting moments in the show but damn. They really wasted the best of this reunion on captain karen.
