Not only does this episode feature characters from the Disney show TaleSpin (1990), it also, sort of, features characters from another Disney show The Wuzzles (1985), of which featured animals that were a combination of two animals. The magic stone features a carving of a half lion, half bumble bee, which is a reference to Bumblelion from that show. The magic stone then creates combinations of animals, which are references to other characters from The Wuzzles (1985). There is Rhinokey (a combination rhino and monkey) & Butterbear (a combination butterfly and bear), although they appear as wild animals in this episode, instead of the anthropomorphic animals they appear as on their own show.
An instrumental version of the TaleSpin (1990) theme can be heard during the Higher for Hire commercial.
Kit calls Dewey "Little Britches". This nickname was previously used by Baloo, both which he used for Kit himself in TaleSpin (1990) and also for Mowgli in The Jungle Book (1967).
Even though Season 3 ended up being the series' last and had even been made in a way to accompany such, Francisco Angones did confirm that he initially had plans to do a follow up to this episode revealing the fates of other TaleSpin (1990) characters had there been another season.
