Not likely. Johnny Clem is listed in the Official Roster as a member of the 22nd Michigan Volunteer Infantry, which was mustered in on August 29th, 1862 nearly four months after the battle of Shiloh on April 6-7, 1862. While some reports state that he had been a member of the 3rd Ohio during the battle, Official Records state that the 3rd, while in service at the time, did not participate at the Battle of Shiloh and was in fact on the march to Fayetteville at the time. There is no evidence to show Johnny's involvement as either a member of the 3rd Ohio or having participated at Shiloh.
