In 1943 Rome, young Guido has just finished film school and is now directing his first feature film for a major studio. As Guido struggles to communicate with his elitist actress, guide his crew, satisfy his studio executive and still try to fulfill his grand vision, he begins to re- consider the actual meaning and purpose of his film, questioning if he himself even comprehends it, nonetheless-if he can even direct it.
