In November 2022, Coogler and Feige were said to have talked about making a third Black Panther movie. In January 2023, Wright hinted that they were thinking about it, saying the cast and Coogler needed time to get ready before starting.
Now, after a year has gone by, it seems like Coogler is officially going to direct the third movie.
This hasn’t been officially confirmed yet, but we’re pretty sure it’s going to be announced soon, based on the latest rumors. Along with the announcement of ‘Black Panther 3’, Coogler is also lined up to direct the upcoming live-action ‘X-Men’ reboot.

Marvel Studios has drastically reduced its output since Bob Iger returned as Disney CEO, with the hope being to get back to quality over quantity. That's led to fewer TV shows on Disney+, but at least two more Marvel Animation titles will reportedly be released this year.
According to What's On Disney Plus (via Toonado.com), the streamer has sent out an updated 2024 slate which names Black Panther spin-off Eyes Of Wakanda and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man (previously known as Spider-Man: Freshman Year) as being among the platform's 2024 offerings.
Other Marvel titles mentioned include Hit-Monkey season 2 (a Marvel Television leftover), Agatha: Darkhold Diaries, and Deadpool & Wolverine. Only Hit-Monkey has a confirmed launch date of July 15; the rest are currently undated.
It's interesting that Marvel Zombies isn't listed, as we'd expected that to hit in 2024 as well. It could be that no final decision has been made on the series,...

Bob Iger recently announced that the studio plans on reducing its creative output and that the fans can expect 2 or 3 movies per year in addition to 2 shows. This is a response to the catastrophic year that’s left Disney as the biggest box-office loser, having the most movies on the list.
The new release schedule is seemingly already kicking in, with ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ being the only movie to release this year. But this most likely has more to do with last year’s SAG-AFTRA strike than a change in direction.
New updated Disney schedule doesn’t reflect these changes however, as we still have plenty of Marvel content to look forward to. The first show to arrive on the streaming service is ‘Hit Monkey’ season 2, it arrives on Disney+ on July 15th. Even though it’s not under the MCU umbrella, the show has plenty of fans and it...

Bob Iger just revealed that the studio aims to cut back on its creative output. Fans can anticipate 2 or 3 movies per year, along with 2 shows. This decision follows a disastrous year for Disney, which landed them as the top box-office loser, with the most movies on the flop list.
The new release plan appears to be taking effect, with only ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ hitting screens this year. However, this is probably due more to last year’s SAG-AFTRA strike than a shift in strategy.
Despite the updates, the new Disney schedule still promises a wealth of Marvel content. Leading the charge is the arrival of ‘Hit Monkey’ season 2 on Disney+ on July 15th. While it may not fall under the MCU umbrella, the show boasts a dedicated fan base and is regarded as one of the top Marvel-based animated series at present.

The debut of Episode 8 of ‘X-Men ’97’ marked the commencement of its three-part finale, advancing the overarching narrative while also featuring a notable cameo. Christopher Barnes’ Spider-Man made a surprise appearance following Captain America, sparking fan speculation about the integration of ‘Spider-Man ’94’ into the continuity of the new ‘X-Men ’97.’
Previously, it was established that all Marvel Animated series, while not aligned with the MCU canon, belong to the broader Marvel Animated Multiverse. This categorization holds merit, given the significant disparities between the older and newer shows, offering a logical framework for their coexistence.
After Episode 8 aired, well-known industry insider Daniel Richtman asserted that ‘Spider-Man,’ ‘Iron Man,’ ‘Silver Surfer,’ ‘Fantastic Four,’ and ‘The Incredible Hulk’ all inhabit a shared universe.

The release of ‘X-Men ’97’ Episode 8 Started the three-part finale, and of course, advanced the overall story of the show, but it also included one notable cameo. After Captain America, Christopher Barnes’ Spider-Man showed up in the show, which prompted fans to conclude that ‘Spider-Man ’94’ is truly canon to the new ‘X-Men ’97.’
It was stated a while back that all Marvel Animated shows, despite not being canon to the MCU, are part of Marvel Animated Multiverse, and that definition is truly sensible and logical, since the older shows (and by extension new shows) contradict each other in quite a lot of ways.

In 2021, it was confirmed that Ryan Coogler was working on a TV series set in Wakanda for Disney+, with Danai Gurira returning to her role as Okoye. After a quiet period, Variety reported in 2022 that Coogler was developing multiple Wakanda-focused series, some featuring existing characters and others introducing new ones.

In 2024, Disney is set for changes. Following a string of underperforming MCU releases in 2023, Bob Iger emphasized a shift towards prioritizing quality over quantity in their content production. With over 20 MCU projects in various stages of development and numerous Star Wars shows and movies in the pipeline, many announced during the 2023 Star Wars Celebration event, Disney+ has now confirmed several of these upcoming projects. Most are slated for release in 2024. Let’s take a look at what’s in store.
1. ‘X-Men ’97’ — March 20
‘X-Men ’97’ debuts on the platform with its first two episodes premiering on March 20, 2024. The series will comprise 10 episodes, each with an average runtime of 30 minutes. 2024 is bound to be a year of change, at least as far as Disney goes. After several big-budget MCU productions failed in 2023 and were met with a lukewarm reception, Bob Iger himself stated that they will definitely focus on quality over quantity in the future and will scale down their content production. In 2023, Marvel Studios faced challenges. The Multiverse Saga debut received a lukewarm response, and ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ fell short of expectations. ‘Secret Invasion,’ a highly anticipated live-action series about Skrulls, received poor reviews despite loosely adapting a beloved comic storyline. The lone success was ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3,’ overshadowed by the disappointing performance of ‘The Marvels,’ Marvel Studios’ lowest-grossing film to date.
Acknowledging ‘The Marvels’ failure, Bob Iger admitted to its shortcomings, emphasizing a shift toward quality over quantity. Despite occasional announcements of new projects, ranging from street-level heroes to cosmic tales, most upcoming endeavors are animated.
This shift isn’t accidental. According to Daniel Richtman’s sources within Marvel Studios, the future will prioritize animated content, with live-action productions taking a back seat, focusing on more grounded narratives, and becoming less frequent.

2023 wasn’t all that good for Marvel Studios. The start of the Multiverse Saga was met with a lukewarm reception and ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ failed to deliver projected results. ‘Secret Invasion’ a much-anticipated live-action show focusing on the Skrulls was met with horrific reviews despite loosely adapting a famous comic storyline. The only fully successful project released in 2023 was ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3,’ which was followed by the abysmal release of ‘The Marvels’ the lowest-grossing Marvel Studios film to date.
Following the catastrophic results of ‘The Marvels’ even Bog Iger came out with a statement and admitted to the movie’s shortcomings, he also said that the studio will focus more on quality over quantity in the coming years. Despite that, we occasionally hear about a new confirmed or rumored project in development ranging from street-level superheroes to cosmic stories, but most currently rumored projects and...

A few months back, Bob Iger revealed that Marvel Studios intends to shift its focus from quantity to prioritize quality, prompted by disappointing box office performances of two out of three recent MCU releases. Disney acknowledges that the previous formula no longer resonates with audiences, recognizing that merely attaching the Marvel logo does not guarantee success at the box office.
In 2024, ‘Deadpool 3’ stands as the sole film release alongside Disney+ shows. This movie is being hailed as a potential savior of the MCU, with the studio pinning hopes on it to revive the excitement and allure that characterized high-budget superhero productions before the monumental success of “Endgame.”
Iger has now discussed ‘Captain America 4’ and ‘Fantastic Four’ as the only slated movie releases for 2025.

A couple of months ago Bob Iger announced that Marvel Studios will most likely change its output in terms of quantity to focus a bit more on quality following disastrous box office results for 2/3 MCU releases. Disney is aware that what used to work no longer works with the general public and just because a superhero movie has a Marvel Logo stamped on it it’s not a guaranteed box office success.
‘Deadpool 3’ is the only movie to be released in 2024 in addition to Disney+ shows, and the movie is already being hailed as the savior of the MCU as the studio counts on it to reignite some of the flame and appeal that high-budget superhero productions held prior to the release and during release of their last superhit “Endgame.” Now Iger recently discussed ‘Captain America 4’ and ‘Fantastic Four’ as the only movies being released in 2025.

It was reported last month that Black Panther director Ryan Coogler would be reteaming with frequent collaborator Michael B. Jordan for a secret movie. Anticipation was high, with several major studios eager to snap up the project, but Deadline has reported that Warner Bros. has walked away as the victor following a heated bidding war.
Plot details are being kept under wraps, but the project has been described as a period thriller involving vampires, which certainly sounds exciting. It’s also said to contain a few anime influences, which isn’t a surprise as Michael B. Jordan is known to be a big anime fan. Ryan Coogler will direct the vampire movie in addition to penning the script, and will also produce through his Proximity Media banner. Coogler has worked with Jordan on each of his movies, including Fruitvale Station, Creed, Black Panther, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

At a time when the Marvel Cinematic Universe feels more and more creatively stale, with the box office reflecting this, "Marvel's What If...?" is a breath of fresh air. The animated show offers writers and animators an opportunity to tell the kind of wildly creative stories that the McU's movies can't — both because they have to adhere to the Marvel formula and continuity, and because of budget constraints.
Though the first season was a bit formulaic, with most of the episodes following the plot of a previously-released Marvel movie (but with a little twist), the second season did a better job of exploring the infinite possibilities of the MCU multiverse. As Vanessa Armstrong wrote in her review for /Film, season 2 was "a zany, refreshing mix of stories."

‘What If…?’ brought a breath of fresh air to the MCU. Despite the initial mixed reception of the first season, its success led to the approval of additional seasons, expanding the multiverse by drawing inspiration from various notable storylines. The unconventional release of Season 2 unfolded over nine days, with each episode serving as a special holiday gift for fans. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige announced the development of the second season in December 2019; originally planned for 10 episodes, but due to Covid-19-related production delays, both seasons ultimately comprised nine episodes each.

‘What If…?’ was a breath of fresh air in the MCU; despite the first season of the show receiving a somewhat mixed reception from fans, it was successful enough to warrant additional seasons and expand the multiverse that the creators have been working on drawing loose inspiration from several notable storylines.
Season 2 was released in a somewhat unconventional manner over the course of nine days; a single episode was released, like a gift for fans to unwrap over the holiday season. In December 2019, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige announced the development of a second season for the animated series “What If…?,” consisting of 10 episodes. Due to Covid-19-related production delays during the first season, both the first and second seasons ended up having nine episodes each.

In a year of reduced Marvel output, there are still a lot of interesting comic book adaptations emerging in 2024 from both Sony and Marvel Studios. As it stands, Deadpool 3 is the only MCU film releasing in theaters this year, but the Sony side of Marvel has three movies heading to multiplexes, including Kraven the Hunter, which was previously set to make its debut in 2023.

Marvel has numerous projects in the pipeline or currently in development, even amid the significant disruptions caused by the historic SAG-AFTRA strike. Bob Iger has publicly emphasized the need for Marvel Studios to prioritize quality over quantity, acknowledging a noticeable decline in fan interest and financial performance in the past year for Marvel projects.
However, in a surprising move, Marvel Studios appears to be leaning into animated content, with rumors circulating about multiple animated projects in various stages of development or production. According to reliable insider Daniel Richtman, there’s speculation that Kevin Feige, a respected figure in the industry, is showing interest in creating an animated movie set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Marvel has quite a few projects being either lined up for release or in development despite the historic SAG-AFTRA strike shuffling the schedule around. Bob Iger did come out to the public with a statement that Marvel Studios should focus more on quality than quantity since the drop in fans’ interest is evident, as it wasn’t really a good year for Marvel projects financially.
Despite this, it seems that Marvel Studios is embracing animated content since there are rumors of several animated projects being either in development or in production. According to Daniel Richtman, reputable leaker and scooper Kevin Feige is interested in making an animated movie set within the MCU.

Disney+’s upcoming Daredevil: Born Again may be getting even more familiar faces, as it has been reported that both Elden Henson and Deborah Ann Woll will reprise their respective characters from the original Daredevil series, Foggy Nelson and Karen Page.
Elden Henson and Deborah Ann Woll were key supporters throughout Daredevil’s three seasons when it aired on Netflix. That they’re expected to return – alongside Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock aka Daredevil – is most certainly reason for fans to be even more excited for Born Again. While it wasn’t anticipated that Henson and Woll would reprise their roles, they have stayed loyal to the characters: both turned up alongside Cox in The Defenders, while Henson would pop up as Foggy on Jessica Jones and Luke Cage and Woll had a short run on The Punisher TV series.
