I viewed this program when it originally aired on the History Channel in 2008/2009. As history enthusiast, the description at the beginning piqued my interest. I'm grateful that I took the time to view every episode. I recently purchased it on DVD for under $10.00 online. I've enjoyed watching each 45 minute (approximately) episode, back-to-back.
This thought-provoking series examines the influence of the Seven Deadly Sins on Western Civilization prior to the Dark Ages and into the Modern Age. This 5 hour and 29 minute program covers, among many other topics, how these concepts of Gluttony, Lust, Greed, Anger, and Sloth originated and how the sins were originally the Eight Deadly Sins.
What I found most interesting were the many references to Durante degli Alighieri's famous work, the Divine Comedy through CGI and reenactments. Each of the Seven Deadly Sins and their punishments in the nine circles of suffering in Hell.
