Both the Vet and Detective story lines were amazing. I could have done without the Higgins storyline this episode but I get they didn't want it all depressing. As a kid of a cop, I liked the way they handled the pressure us kids go through. The writers did a great job of addressing how broken the system is while also reminding us that most officers go into the force because they care. Overall, I would like to applaud the writers for handling two very sensitive subjects with grace.

This was one of the worst shows of the series from two directions. #1 - it was a social message of Vet issues instead of entertainment combined with a family problem for the Cop made it pretty mush a waste of time. And than the killer - #2 Higgins off on vacation with the Doctor Boyfriend was like watching someone throw up for a 1/2 hour. Jay Hernandez is no Tom Selleck and can't carry this show as a solo - I got hooked because of the chemistry between Magnum and Higgins which set it apart from the original and I could make the distinction . The show runners seem to be determined to destroy the only thing that made this show interesting and that was the closeness between Magnum and Higgins - unless she ditches the dirt bag Doctor - and this show returns to what made it successful - this show is done for me. Too bad - I really enjoyed the show before the Doc showed up.

Do Americans really love these endless depressed soldier episodes I now fast forward all these bits and from the bit I saw a soldier with a wife and kid was going to commit suicide because one of his mates died while he was on holiday how soft have we become?it must have took me 10 minutes to watch the episode and I don't think I missed anything.

I like the show, the cases Magnum works on, the chemistry with the other characters, all fun and easy going. It is just a huge pain in the neck that every once in while these shows are used in order to deliver:
THE MESSAGE!!
Don't get me wrong, matters of trauma are important and must be felt with. But if I want to get education about said subject - or any minority / social issue / gender issue / psychological issue, I watch a documentary or read about it in an article.
Here, it's supposed to be entertaining. You know, interesting and suspenseful cases, investigating, fun moments, Higgins and Magnum spending time together and being silly.
Entertaining, fun. Not education. Please, try not to confuse that.
