The countdown features Dire Straits: Walk of Life (1985) instead Dire Straits: Walk of Life (UK Version) (1985) despite the fact that the UK version was the first music video made, where it can be seen a street musician in a tunnel metro plays the song at the same time that Dire Straits plays it at a live concert. However, the video was a failure and received a poor reception. The US version, with the band playing the song mixed with funny sport scenes (in baseball, basketball and football) proved to be so much more successful, causing that the UK version were largely dropped and forgot by the audience.
Of the 50 music videos featured in the countdown, only one is totally in black and white: Bon Jovi: Livin' on a Prayer (1986), mean while that a-ha: Take on Me (1985), Diana Ross: Chain Reaction (1985) and Cutting Crew: (I Just) Died in Your Arms (UK Version) (1987) alternate color with black and white. The rest of the music videos are in color.
The Top 50 hasn't host to introduce the music videos, and it hasn't opening or ending credits. It only broadcasts the music videos in countdown without pause or commercials but a brief channel ident promo each 20-30 minutes. In addition, it shows titles (solo singer/music band, song name and album name) at the start and ending of each one, and its number in the countdown.
Whitney Houston is featured twice in the countdown: Whitney Houston: How Will I Know (1985) and Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance with Somebody (1987).
George Michael is featured twice in the countdown: one as part of a music band in Wham!: Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go (1984) and the other as solo artist in George Michael & Aretha Franklin: I Knew You Were Waiting (for Me) (1987).
