It's the best indoor sport in the world
MissClassicTV10 December 2015
This show featured two great sketches. In one, David Janssen teaches the basics of chess to Dean, using life-size chess pieces. Six showgirls dressed up as the pawn, rook, knight, bishop, queen and king. David explains the movement and/or purpose of each piece. The other sketch is the classic "Farmer's Daughter" sketch, which is well played by all involved: Charles Nelson Reilly, Elke Sommer, Dean Martin and David Janssen. Some of the funniest bits are when someone flubs a line or goes off script. They don't do retakes, they just air the actors laughing at their own antics. This show was a classic, often featuring sly innuendoes, but nothing is hurtful and it's all rated G (OK, maybe PG). Now 45+ years later, it's still a masterpiece.
