- TriviaThe title includes the pejorative term which refers to someone who gives a gift and then takes it back. In reality, the offensive term developed through a misunderstanding of cultural differences between Europeans and Native Americans. While European tradition was to give gifts with no requirement for an equivalent gift in return, Native Americans considered gifting a form of barter or trade, in which if you received a gift, you were obligated to give something in return of equal value. So when Native Americans gave something to early European settlers, expecting an equal exchange, and received nothing in return, they felt cheated and demanded the original item be returned. Europeans misunderstood and thought the Native Americans were simply being rude. But it was simply a matter of differing cultural expectations.

Kathy Makes A Trade
Kathy and her friend Susie make a deal, Kathy's doll for Susie's baby sister.
A funny episode for Kathy. It begins with Bud and Kathy arguing over a trade of a paint brush for a cap. Jim comes home and explains to Kathy about "fair trading". When the family discovers the baby, Jim realizes he did not explain things that well to her. Kathy then becomes moody and depressed, she acts like Greta Garbo, saying "I want to be alone". Another funny scene where Betty and Bud try to cheer her up. Jim then comes up with an idea to snap her out it.
