Company aiming for 15 annual Us releases by 2020.
Global Road Entertainment aims to amass a $1bn production war chest over the next three years as it targets 15 annual Us releases by 2020, eight or nine of which are anticipated to be developed and produced in-house.
The $1bn goal was announced to buyers at a private presentation in Berlin yesterday and it is understood the provenance of that funding could combine capital from Global Road owners Tang Media Partners (Tmp) and a cash raise.
The presentation at the Sony Center in Berlin on Thursday by president of worldwide theatrical marketing Jack Pan was accompanied by a sizzle reel of films by Global Road’s senior executive suite from their time at other studios, and hinted at the type of content CEO Rob Friedman wants to make.
Speaking to Screen on the eve of the Efm along with his president of international Rodolphe Buet, Friedman said he was...

Above: 1960 Us first release one sheet for A Lesson in Love (Ingmar Bergman, Sweden, 1954).Starting on February 7, The Best Show in Town may well be Film Forum’s Centennial Retrospective of the gargantuan six-decade oeuvre of Ingmar Bergman. 47 films over five weeks, 40 of them brand new digital restorations. Usually in these circumstances I gather as many posters as I can find from a filmmaker's career, but collecting posters for all of Bergman’s work would be a monumental task. And so I’ve decided to cut to the chase and select my ten favorite posters for his films. Most American posters for Bergman’s films—especially those from the 60s and 70s—are unusually wordy and quote-heavy, relying on critical acclaim to sell the latest product from the master. But, as much a visual stylist as a cerebral provocateur, Bergman has inspired many poster artists to great heights over the years.

We first came across word of Baran Bo Odar's The Silence (Das Letzte Schweigen) back in February. Immediately drawn in by the atmosphere of the German language trailer this seemed to be the arrival of a significant new talent, a gut feeling borne out when I had the chance to see the completed film a few months later. And now with the picture being presented at the Locarno Film Festival we have the chance to present an English subtitled version of the trailer so that you can get a better sense of what's happening.

Mmm, very nice indeed. Baran Bo Odar's Das Letzte Schweigen not only continues the odd trend of Danish actors appearing in German thrillers - Mads Mikkelsen in The Door, Ulrich Thomsen in this one - but also just plain impresses with its impeccable atmosphere and slowly building dread.
With a story revolving around kidnappings and killings of young girls over a span of decades it's hard not to compare to recent UK effort Red Riding but this looks to go far more for arthouse chills than Red Riding's crime-noir vibe. Here's the synopsis from the IMDb:
13-year-old Sinikka vanishes on a hot summer night. Her bicycle is found in the exact place where a girl was killed 23 years ago. The dramatic present forces those involved in the original case to face their past.
