BOOM!
The Boys is back motherf###er; and the ending is just... Holy Crap! It's fantastic and full of surprises, especially with Butcher and Homelander basically commanding the episodes dramatic beats!

It's already clear that The Boys ain't losing its bite anytime soon if there's still material THIS strong on the horizon.

It's still full of its satirical criticism of modern American culture, its main characters are embodiments of day-to-day chaos (least of all in superhero worlds like Marvel or DC) and have become one of TV's strongest ensemble casts.

The Boys ain't losing it yet; and it's sure to stick the landing too.

That hilarious ending song
glumski11 September 2022
'The Only Man in the Sky' is another excellent episode, advancing the plot without rushing into it. I can't think of many shows that manage to maintain their quality through action and non-action both, with the perfect balance and pacing to boot. The actors deliver their usual top-notch performances; Anthony Starr is a very convincing sociopath, and Karen Fukuhara manages to convey so much emotion with just her expressive face.

I especially loved the 'generic boy band' ending song with its creepy lyrics; it genuinely made me break out in hysteric laughter. That a show with this much social commentary and criticism of capitalist pop culture is produced by Amazon remains ironic...

Kimiko's plot really moved me
Victor_daSilva_4 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I've been thinking a little about these things that destroy our lives. Where did we go wrong? Is it our fault for being the way we are? Kimiko also thinks about it a lot in this episode, the need to live a life lost because of s*it that happened in the past. Even if I question the exposition that the script uses to make this feeling of the character explicit, I cannot deny that the phrase "I'll never be a normal girl who likes roller coasters. I've been destroyed, and I can't fix it" really moved me. It's not about liking roller coasters, it's about not being able to enjoy roller coasters at the right time.

Possibly even better than the first episode
calebsmoke3 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Don't get me wrong, the first episode was a phenomenal start to the season. But, it was a bit transitory between the feelings and "high" the Boys were riding at the end of last season and the renewed tension for this one. This one sets things really in gear. Multiple major, character-defining moments as well as excellent action and badass visuals. This season will be fun.

He is amazing in this role. A psycho with super powers. I almost forgot he was in Banshee. Can't wait for next episode(s) and a clash between him and Butcher.

Chimps Don't Cry
MamadNobari973 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
A really good episode with a semi-surprising ending.

Throughout the episode, we see the parallel between Butcher and Homelander, one with the hour-super serum, and the other with getting owned by everyone. And they both go nuts at the end when the straw breaks the camel's back.

I actually didn't notice this parallel until writing this review, I don't if you can call it that or not, but to me, they're both kinda paralleling each other.

First, we have Billy, which got the V24, and characteristically wants to destroy it, and struggles with the idea for a bit. First, he has a nightmare about it, as you do, then he goes to blackmail Gunpowder but it doesn't work out, and gets shot. He watches a Lego video his wife's son made with her mom's voice and calls Hughie to say that he was right and they should leave this line of work, but the opposite happens to Hughie and now he tells Butcher that they should get their hands dirty if they want to get things done and he changes Butcher's mind.

Which kinda feels repetitive? This "it's a new season and our heroes are separated and don't want to do what they did for x seasons, so we spend the first 2-3 episodes with them fighting and eventually reuniting again" thing that I thought they already did in season 2? But at least they're not dragging it, and I mean it's only 8 episodes, so they can't drag that trope that long anyway.

And Butcher, unsurprisingly, goes full psycho on Gunpowder and brutalizes him. (Although I was expecting his skull to be have been crushed beyond recognition).

On the other hand, we have Homelander, the birthday boy, which probably has the worst birthday a bratty attention seeker could have. This man can't have anything in this episode. Every attempt of his at bossing someone or assert dominance is shut down by everyone around him. (Let's not forget the whole cocaptain thing). And if that wasn't enough, Stormfront kills herself, and the straw that karate chopped the camel's back was the guy that mocked Stormfront being dead into Homelander's face.

And I say semi-surprising because it's not surprising that he would get fed up after all that and let it out like that for everyone. But it's still a little surprising that he would do that, considering that the most important thing he cares about is his public perception and that people should love him, and that's the whole point of Queen Maeve's blackmail, although it wasn't as bad him killing all those people in season 2.

We get a reveal about Nadia which is not surprising but it's a good reveal nonetheless.

Mother's Milk is struggling with choosing Butcher or his daughter and it seems like he had a past with Soldier Boy that might be related to his dad, which I'm glad they're doing, because it makes an actual connection between our protagonists and Soldier Boy and he's not just there to be there for no reason, it serves the plot and gives meaningful motivation to Marvin.

We get some stuff related to Kimiko and Frenchie too and they have a really bloody scene too with Andrea from Walking Dead which was nice. But I didn't care for the Kimiko stuff and her wanting to be a kid or something. They'll probably further that plot more in the next episodes, but for now, it's not that interesting to be honest. Didn't we get lots of backstory for her in last season?

Oh, and Hughie might have adopted a supe child.

All in all, this was a really good episode with some typical Boys' bodies exploding and blood rain scenes, Butcher and Homelander going nut, reveals about Neuman, Butcher taking the V, Soldier Boy working with Grace Mallory, Stormfront's death, and we're probably gonna see Homelander go even crazier since his fake public persona is wearing off. (Unless he gets even more popular in the eyes of public)

A F#%KING DIABOLICAL EPISODE
robotintroverted5 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was insane, Homelander is getting more insane this season. I feel like at some point this season he's just going to fully snap and kill everyone. That scene with the girl was an incredibly horrifying scene. And the ending to this episode was just horrifying. I cannot believe what is happening, it's amazing!

Billy messing with the serum was interesting to see, and I love how that's going to come into play in this season.

The amusement park scene was incredible, it was cute at first, then turned messy fast! It's really interesting seeing how Kimiko not wanting to really be in this business, and instead has a childlike wonder to her.

To be honest, I was a little skeptical of this season at first, but this season is shaping up to be one of my favourite seasons of TV of 2022!

9/10 episode!

Wow!! Every minute of this episode was outstanding! Definitely one of the best episodes yet. Only two episodes into this season and already it's looking like the best!

The whole speech at the end with Homelander was incredible.

10/10 from me but critics will probably say otherwise..

Such a funny, action packed episode and I just can't wait for more!

The Only Man in the Sky is ME
acoucci23 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This scene was the point for me where Homelander truly embraced who he is. He knows he is a god among mortals and finally understands he doesn't have to bow down to anyone. "The only man in the sky, is me" is such a powerful line I couldn't help but get chills the way Anthony Starr delivered it to the poor unsuspecting woman. Homelander has finally declared himself an unapologetic GOD to the public and that is going to make this season very special.

Everyone's storyline is interesting
ajs3213 June 2022
The first ep was slow, although still good. However, this was exhilarating to watch. Each characters build up in this was amazing, no one felt like they were to fill up. One thing I would say is, when it reveals something unexpected or unanticipated, make it feel more like damn this really happened. Otherwise on the progress of the show this ep really pushed it to what's going to happen and did it in a good way.

Anthony Starr is outstanding
lovemichaeljordan3 June 2022
Anthony Starr is the star of this show. His performance as Homelander is phenomenal and he deserves awards for it. Homelander's story is still the most interesting and the moment where he goes truly insane will be memorable.

The other character's stories are fine, but slow. I hope we get to see more action in future episodes, but it's promising so far.

Leftists ruin everything they touch
regonas27 July 2022
And third season is here, which could be named as "rebranding". Current politics were renamed as plot, socialists were rebranded as "rust belt white males", latinos were rebranded as latxn or whatever slur leftists are using right now. Most uninspiring propaganda mess I have seen...

This ep gets the osscar, one of the best moments of the series.
MKRatingsAndReviews3 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
So in the ep there's this video and then there's this phone call. And I was maybe almost tearing up just a little bit only to be moments later laughing my ass off. And there's that f'n ednding, god damn this episode was great.

Moments like this are an essential part as to why I watch this show and why I think it's great overall. I can give a million reasons as to why a lot of dramas fail at this imo and come off as cheap and emotionally exploitive. And at the viewers expense, even if they are done well. But this is a show where moments like this are earned and enjoyed, at least by me.

Antony Starr...
songod-9500313 July 2022
I first saw him in the show "Banshee". Thought he was amazing.

Lost track of him and when "The Boys" debut, I had zero idea he was Homelander until I perused the credits, saw he was the guy from "Banshee", and wow... could not have been more blown away!

Kudos to Antony Starr for bringing to life two fabulous characters that are iconic and no doubt to be a part of TV history.

As for this season so far? Terrific. So many shows start to run out of steam or become predictable by season 3. This not happening I credit to creator Eric Kripke. As with his running of "Supernatural", the show was focused and on track for the five year plan he had. Once he left and the CW carried on, albeit successfully (the show ran for 15 seasons!), it soon became predictable and at times silly.

Whatever Kripke's series plan is for "The Boys", I hope the network adheres to it and not sees dollar signs in keeping it on and on till it becomes a parody.

Don't Change Who You Are
tristan_193 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This is a great episode for The Boys with excellent performances all across the board from the whole cast. Crimson Countess and Gundpowder are fantastic additions and certainly add flavor and style to the show. Hughie and Starlight, and Frenchie and Kimiko still bring a lot of heart and we get to see some really good character development.

Talking about development, Marvin is struggling a lot and has probably one of his best episodes yet. Can't change who you are, right ? He's slowly getting back. So is Hughie, because of the events surrounding Nadia. Gotta do it Butcher's way. But that comes with a price too, because Billy has injected some Compound V and goes against his beliefs a little bit. Are we on for an addiction storyline ?

Homelander is still kicking off and ready to snap. Stormfront's apparent demise sends him even further, and his birthday special takes a turn. He's so far gone, he's ready to push a girl to jump from a building, because he doesn't find it just that she would survive, and not Stormfront.

We also get solid reveals and learn Victoria is basically Stan Edgar's daughter, and she comes from the Red River program. Is she Egar's fail safe plan to maybe go against Homelander someday ? Who knows. Talking about Red River, we get to see Teddy Stilwell, who also has superpowers.

Overall, the episode focuses a lot on identity themes, and what you are ready to do to succeed and reach your goals. How far are you willing to go ? Also a lot of trauma and memories, especially from M. M. and Kimiko. Homelander has enough and embraces who he is fully, but Billy goes the other way and takes some Compound V. Can't wait to see where that leads.

The Only Men in the Sky
Trey_Trebuchet28 June 2022
Really loved this one. As some have pointed out, the confrontation between Homelander and Butcher was intense as hell and the parallels are evident and ingenious. It'll be interesting to see how far Butcher takes things this season, and it's scary to think that Homelander could very well go even further than that...

It seems like Kimiko and Mother's Milk will be getting some development too, which is exciting. Even Hugh is getting a surprisingly compelling arc so far.

These first two episode have started to establish dark, wonderful things still go come. I'm excited to see what happens.

Rebrand, new faces and some new tricks
ha77y73ad9714 June 2022
How can this series be getting better and better. By the end of the series this was just one of the craziest moments of the series and its only 2 episodes in. I never thought this series was ever going to die out but i never thought it could go up.

For an independent run of comic to be translated into such a fan favorite tv show just proves that the writers and casting have been on point. I cannot praise the cast enough of this series with really only Karl Urban really the biggest name in the series!

The shock the episode was when the brutality hit but the end of it. This was a laughing matter as the incident from the first episode but pure unadulterated violence from the main cast!

Overall this was just another ride in a series that i dont ever want to end. So much of the story is a reflection on the world today but this is in no way preachy on trying to change anything.

Homelander the snowflake
cindythegreatest7 June 2022
He seems like a superhero version of former president donald john Trump. Always pushing his weight around and never seems to land a verbal punch despite his meanspiritedness. Hopefully there will be a satisfying conclusion to him. Maybe Ashley can attract his gaze. Wouldn't they make a pathetic pair of reprobates!? Looks like soldier boy snuck in without very many people noticing.... Anybody else see this?

[7.4] Starlight next to Homelander, like a bunny next to a mountain lion
cjonesas16 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Episode 2: All thanks to the darkly talented Anthony Starr, this episode and most of The Boys shine in its own crazy way. The rest consist of eye-pleasing visual effects not for the faint hearted.

Whoever is not happy with and doesn't love insane and crazy, The Boys is not for you. Do not watch, then complain and give crappy 1-5 ratings.

I love shows insane and crazy moments and IMO, the producers should have graphically shown what Homelander did to that poor young girl who wanted to jump at first, but then got loca frightened, all because of the insane and unapologetic character that Homelander represents and it will only get worse, I'm sure of that.

The acting of Anthony Starr and Giancarlo Esposito way outshine the other puny ones. That disbalance should be fixed somehow!

Stepping up
Leofwine_draca30 September 2022
So the second episode is a big improvement over the first one, as the emphasis is now on strong plotting with added characterisation as a bonus. The new rivalries and mental breakdown of the Homelander character is thoroughly gripping while the 'good guys' seem to be pursuing a new lead which has promising aspects. As always, it's the acting from Starr and Urban that makes this show shine, although nobody else seems to have had much of a look in at this stage. However, there's little treading water, it's moving on at speed, which I think is always a plus point. Let's see where it goes and what happens from here...

S3.E2 - Shocking Episode [9.3/10]
panagiotis199324 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
(S3. E2) My Reaction / Review for The Boys Season 3 Episode 2 ''The Only Man in the Sky'': Episode 1 was good and I gave it a rating of 9/10. Let's see if this one is better or worse. Its kinda sad seeing Stormfront like that, it would be better if she just died. I don't really believe that there is a weapon that could really kill Homelander. Wait Edgar adopted Neuman? Is that it? So they are connected. Stormfront killed herself? Why? How? Homelander seems to be sad about it. Homelander forced that girl to kill herself, so evil. Super Butcher is badass, also I love how he killed Gunpowder, extremely brutal. Wow Homelander's monologue is crazy, I love it. Overall an amazing episode, my rating is 9.3/10.
