French rom-com as shallow like an overinflated balloon
R-Clercx18 August 2021
'Les Fantasmes' or 'Fantasies' consists of a couple of short -stories exploring the way couples, facing mid-life crisis, deal with their sexual fantasies.

The short story structure is the main problem: for the viewer about 15 minutes in each segment to feel engaged with a plentitude of characters is a stretch too far. The actors constantly engage in hysterical overacting or desperately trying to be funny, trying to compensate for the lack of time to develop their character.

As a rom-com it fails in both departments: nor romantic, nor funny and too shallow and short to explore the theme in any meaningful or exciting way.

Don't expect any graphic depictions of sexual fantasies neither: there is no nudity whatsoever.

The only question which stuck to me as a viewer: 'How come once great stars like Monica Belluci agreed to appear in a movie you'll forget as soon as you walk out the theater?'

hilarious all the way through
5 vignettes about various forms of sexual perversions or triggers

Every single one unique

Not much can be said without spoiling the tales

The 2 most outrageous are the ones with Bellucci Bouquet and also the woman triggered by tears

Some of the others are a tad more pedestrian but still hilarious.

Much enjoyed.
