What happened? I love doctor who, I've loved doctor who for about 15 years of my life. You should have seen my bedroom when I was a kid, dr who toys and action figures every, all of them lovingly kept all these years later. I have tried to love Chris Chinball's run, I really have. But I can't. I can't even bring myself to like this. And this episode was the nail in the coffin for me. And I must urge that this is not a problem with the actors, the problem is solely with the writing. Not even the best actors on the planet could salvage this script. To me this whole storyline across this season has been confusing and boring, and this episode rendered the whole thing even more so. There were no satisfying conclusions for anything, and bizarre pieces of canon were introduced and thrown around left right and centre. This episode was genuinely one of the most confusing and bland pieces of television I have sat through. I can't wait for Russel T Davis to return to the series. But I don't envy him for having to fix this mess chibnall has created. This isn't doctor who anymore; this is a pale mockery of what doctor who once was and this episode is everything that is wrong with this new run. A young child could make a more interesting and coherent storyline. I will continue to watch the rest of this disastrous run, but only out of a sense of loyalty and nostalgia of what once was. The only reason this review isn't one star is because of Dan. Dan is great. Keep him and throw the rest into the trash where it belongs. How this made it past the pitching stage is beyond me.
