- Devon, November 1967. A little girl has gone missing, Prof Jericho is conducting psychic experiments and in the graveyard there is one gravestone too many. Why is Medderton known as The Cursed Village and what do the Weeping Angels want?
- The Angel hijacks the TARDIS to the village of Medderton in 1967. The Doctor, Yaz, and Dan soon discover that the Angel has a motive, while others of its kind attack the village and send all of the residents back in time as part of their plot.—Gislef
- In the village of Medderton, Professor Eustacius Jericho tests Claire Brown's psychic ability. First he asks her control question, and she confirms that it's November 1, 1967, and her birthdate. Jericho picks up the fact she doesn't believe her answers on his monitoring equipment.
In the town square, Reverend Shaw looks at a note he received, saying "Leave Now"
Jericho confirms Claire's name.
A man wanders the outskirts of the village, calling his missing grand-niece's name. More villagers join in the search for Peggy.
The equipment picks up that Claire doesn't believe her own statement a second time, even though she doesn't say anything. Claire says that it's happening and goes into convulsions, and Jericho's readings suggests that she's asleep. Claire sits up and says that time has ended, and there is no escape for anyone. Claire snaps out of her trance and says that the Angel has the TARDIS.
The TARDIS flies through the Vortex, the Angel at the controls. The Doctor tells Yaz and Dan that they have to get out, and they need to keep their eyes on the Angel. It moves when the light flickers out, and the Doctor grabs two cables out of the wall, tells Yaz that they should never be put together, and puts them together. She's going to reboot the TARDIS, which should eject quantum life forms like the Angel. The Doctor admits that there's some risk involved, and the Angel sees what she's doing and approaches in flickers of light.
The Doctor tells her companions to blink, because she needs the Angel to come as close as possible. It comes within a few feet of them, and they blink. The Doctor puts the cables together, ejecting the Angel. The Doctor tells her companions that it will take the TARDIS a long time to reboot to operational condition, they don't know when or where they are, and they might be where the Angel was taking them anyway.
The Doctor goes outside to check, and finds Gerald and his wife Jean trying to use the telephone on the outside of the police box. She wonders why they were calling the police, and her sonic overheats. The Doctor follows the signal, while the couple explain that they're missing a 10-year-old girl and it's unlike her to wander off.
Shaw finds Mrs. Hayward at the village cemetery, and says that she's leaving the note he found at everyone's house, and she's deliberately scaring people. Hayward asks if Shaw has counted the stones, and says that there's more. They hear the villagers calling Peggy's name, and Hayward says that it's happening again.
Jericho brings Claire tea. The Doctor comes in following the readings, introduces herself, and sees Claire. She confirms the readings are coming from Claire, and wonders how she's there. Claire says that she's sick and runs to the bathroom. The Doctor finds the sketch of the TARDIS exterior, and Jericho says that it's a sketch Claire made of her premonitions. She runs out, telling Jericho to stay there.
Claire goes into the bathroom and runs water on her face. She looks up at the mirror and sees the wings of an Angel on her back.
Shaw counts the stones and discovers that there's an extra one, of an Angel. He looks at it closely, blinks, and disappears.
Claire goes out and hears the villagers calling to Peggy. Meanwhile Gerald tells Yaz and Dan that villagers are just out looking for Peggy without an organized plan. He points out the field where Peggy played, and says that Yaz and Dan are welcome to look in the fields there. Gerald explains that Peggy is his grand-niece, and she's been in their care since her parents died. He goes off with Jean in one direction to continue the search, and Yaz and Dan go to the fields.
Dan figures that everything that has happened is connected. A scarecrow appears ahead of them, that wasn't there before, and then it resolves into an Angel and comes closer when they look away. The two companions figure they should keep their eyes on it while backing up. They stumble and look away, and the Angel approaches to within a few feet of them. Their torches go out and the moon goes behind a cloud. Dan hits the torch and it comes back on just in time to reveal the Angel reaching for them.
Bel is flying through space in her ship, realizing there's more space in space since the Flux wept through the universe. Bel lands on a planet, and a man approaches her from behind. He says that he saw Bel came in on the borrowed Lupari ship. He says that everyone has borrowed everything to get there, and welcomes her to what's left of Puzano. The man introduces himself as Namaca, and figures she's there because it's the only planet left in the quadrant.
Bel asks Namaca if he's seen Vinder. He hasn't and Bel says that Vinder is her life partner. Namaca explains that there's a person who had made it their mission to get everyone to safety, and invites Bel to come with him to the next "coalescence".
The Doctor searches Jericho's house and finds a rock thrown through the window. Jericho comes up despite the Doctor's house and complains about the vandalism. He goes to the front door and opens it, the Doctor going after him. There are Angels surrounding the house, and the Doctor tells Jericho to back up into the house and not to blink. When he turns around to ask her what she's talking, one of the Angels comes up to within a few feet of him. The Doctor pulls him back and closes the door, and tells Jericho to lock everything. As he does so, he finds Angels at all the windows.
The Doctor sonics the doors and windows shut. Jericho comes back and the Doctor explains what the Angels are and what happens if they touch someone. The Angels pound on the doors, and the Doctor sends Jericho to lock the back entrance. Claire comes down and figures that it's the Angels.
Jericho runs to the back entrance and locks the door. He looks out the window and sees an Angel outside.
Claire tells the Doctor about the disjointed visions she had, including the Doctor, the TARDIS, an Angel, and the street on Liverpool where she was. She says that the Angel followed her to her door, and then she was in 1965, two years ago. Jericho comes back, and the Doctor tells him to bring out his television.
The doorbell rings, and the Angels break into the house through the back door. Jericho brings in the television, and the Doctor tells him and Claire to take the television to the basement. Before she goes, Claire says that the name of the village, that she heard in her premonition, and found and article on how Medderton is a "cursed village". According to the article, everyone in the village disappears on December 21. It also happened in 1901. The Doctor tells Claire to go down to the basement and starts attaching cameras to the stair railing. Claire blinks rock dust from her eye, hides it before the Doctor can see it, and goes to the basement.
Yaz and Dan find themselves in daytime, and go into the nearby uninhabited Medderton. Yaz figures the Angels sent Peggy back in time and continue looking. They check the house and figure from the technology that they're in 1901, and Dan wonders if they're stuck there. Peggy comes in and says that everyone is gone.
Dan and Yaz get some food for Peggy, and ask her how she got there. Peggy finally says that the Angels are there, and they promised they'd leave her alone now. She tells them that they have to stay in the village, Peggy takes them to the sign and says that it's gotten closer. Beyond the sign is nothing but empty space. The girl says that the Angels put two words in her head: "Quantum extraction".
Gerald and Jean come to the outskirts of town, and argue with each other. Jean points out empty space beyond the edge of the village. The couple turn to go back to the village and find an Angel on the road. Gerald goes to pick it up, and he disappears when he touches it. Jean calls to Gerald and looks away. When she turns back, the Angel is just in front of her. She blinks and then screams. A few minutes later, Hayward comes up and finds the Angel.
In 1967, Jericho locks the basement doors. The Doctor hooks the television up to the cameras she put upstairs. In the unlit furniture, a torn-up sketch of an Angel blows in the wind. When Jericho comes over, the Doctor tells him to keep watching the picture on the TV and explains that it's risky because something that holds the image of Angel can also be an Angel. If the Angels want to, they can escape the screen.
Angels appear in the house, while the sketch blows onto the floor and full-sized Angel starts to appear. The Doctor tells Claire to keep her eyes on the new Angel, then grabs the sketch and crumples it up, then burns it. All that does is free the Angel, now burning. The Doctor puts out the burning paper with a bucket of water, and the Angel disappears.
Claire figures the Angels are coming for her, because she's one of them. She reveals that her hands have petrified, and says that she explained earlier that she hallucinated she had Angel wings. Claire figures there's an Angel inside of her, and the Doctor realizes that Claire is a seer. She had a premonition of an Angel in her mind and now it's living there. Jericho says that he's seen things beyond his comprehension during the war, and the Doctor tells him that he needs to keep watching the Angels on the TV, while she looks into Claire's mind and extract the Angel.
Claire agrees and Jericho insists on getting the readings. Once he's looking at the TV, the Doctor makes contact with Claire's mind. She finds herself on a mindscape of a beach with the Angel, and realizes that it's the one who hijacked the TARDIS. An image of Claire is also there, and the Angel speaks through it saying that it needs the Doctor's help. It says that Claire is her sanctuary, and it's hiding from others of its kind. The Doctor realizes the Angel that sent Claire back was hunting the Angel, and the rogue Angel explains that the other Angels are an Extraction Squad from the Division.
Namaca takes Bel to the other survivors, who are gathered around the coalescence spot. Azure appears and everyone applauds it. She says that time is corrupting and space is disintegrating, and there is a galaxy safe from the Flux. A Passenger appears and Azure identifies it. Bell recognizes the Passenger's name and pulls Namaca away. The Passenger activates its transportation field, and then absorbs everyone except Bel and Namaca, who are just out of range. Azure tells Bell that she can come everywhere, and to tell everyone that they're safe with them. Bel tells Namaca that Passengers are endless prisons. Namaca doesn't believe her, and Bel tells him that Puzano is a hunting ground. He tells Bel to stay away from him and walks away.
Dan, Yaz, and Peggy return to Medderton. The village disintegrates ahead of them, closing in. They run away and find an Angel blocking their way. Jean and Gerald come up nearby, and Peggy tells them to stay back. The couple ignore her and continue on, blocking their line of sight. The Angel grabs Gerald's coat, and when they touch it trying to break Gerald free, they both turn to stone and disintegrate. Peggy just says that Gerald was never nice to her. Yaz figures the Doctor will save them like she always has.
In 1967, the monitor shorts out and the Angels pound on the basement door. The one remaining Angel on the screen speaks to Jericho with his voice, telling him to look away. Jericho refuses, and the Angel says that Jericho has lived a life of failure, and there's nothing Jericho can do to stop them. Jericho refuses, and the Angel partway lunges out of the screen, and Jericho smashes the TV with a board.
The Angels break down the door, and Jericho comes over and says that he's observed so they can't move. The Angel speaking to him telepathically only says, "For now". Behind him, the readings display the image of an Angel.
In the mindscape, the rogue Angel says that it was Division like the Doctor was, and ran like she did. It says that they're both trapped and have to work together, and Division is everywhere and on every world and every moment. The Angel wonders if it's too much for the Doctor, and says that if the Doctor stops the Angels then she'll leave Claire and let her leave. The Doctor wonders why the Extraction Squad wants the rogue Angel so badly, and it says knowledge of everything about Division, including the Doctor's memories that were taken from her
Jericho breaks the connection and tells the Doctor that they're running out of options. The Angels have come closer, and the Doctor points out on the floorplans on the wall that the first owner of the house had an assignation tunnel built. She uses a hammer to break down the wall, has Claire and Jericho put two of the monitor headsets on two angels, and tells them to run. She sonics the monitoring device to give the Angels a "quantum headache", then follows the others.
The Doctor closes the door and locks it, and the Angels start beating on it. They telekinetically open the bolt, and Angels emerge from the wall and move in, while the other Angels break down the door.
Peggy takes Yaz and Dan to what her teacher said was a Stone Age burial spot, and explains that it wasn't there the day before but appeared when the people disappeared. They come to a barrier between 1901 and 1967. Dan uses a stick to confirm the barrier disintegrates whatever touches. Hayward comes over from the other side, near the burial site, and says that she remembers a strange old woman and all that followed. She says that Peggy is in 1901, and she doesn't get back to 1067 for a long time because she's Peggy in 66 years' time. Hayward explains that the burial site is made of stone, and it's how the Angels got there. The Angels told her that they're cruel and like to leave a few rare witnesses to tell the story of Quantum Extraction.
In 1967, the trio's torches start to flicker and the Angels close in. They slip between the Angels, while the Angels beat the walls and knock down dust, trying to get the trio to blink or sneeze. Claire goes first while the Jericho watches the Angel, and the Doctor tells Jericho that they'll go round in different directions so the Angels are left looking at each other. When the two of them move, Jericho blinks and Angel sends him to 1901, with Peggy, Dan, and Yaz. The ground shakes as the Angels break through the burial site.
The Doctor gets to the exit, but can't get out without looking. She runs for the exit and realizes the Angels aren't attacking even though she's isn't observing them. The Doctor continues on and comes out into the open, at the burial site and the barrier. Angels have surrounded the burial site, and Claire is nearby. She translates, saying the Angel will let the Doctor go to her friends and are enjoying her work it out. Claire says that the rogue has been communicating with the others. Yaz says that she can't come through the barrier, and the village is floating out of space.
When Yaz asks what Quantum Extraction means, the Doctor realizes the Angels have taken Medderton out of time and space to isolate it, and extract the target. The Doctor tells the Angels to take the rogue out of Claire and return the villa, and she'll negotiate a deal between the rogue and the Squad. Claire says that the rogue is telling her that it's made a better trade, and the Squad will take the Doctor instead. The Doctor realizes the rogue planned it all along, and Claire translates that the Division wants the Doctor and she's recalled to Division. The Angels turn the Doctor into an Angel.
As night falls on Pazuno, Namaca makes camp. Vinder approaches him, shows him a hologram of Bel, and asks Namaca if he's seen her. Namaca says that Bel left a while ago, but doesn't know when because time is muddle. He takes Vinder to a glowing projector on a rock. Vinder thanks Namaca, who figures that Bel saved his life. Namaca asks Vinder to give his thanks to Bel and goes back. When Vinder activates the projector, a hologram recording of Bel appears. She says that she had to go and help some people who were taken by Azure. Bel says that she loves Vinder, and he says that he loves her. The projector's battery goes out before Bel can recite the coordinates, and Vinder says that he's on his way.
