Unusual narrative, unique surreal approach
selneda5 July 2010
I was very glad to have the opportunity to watch this movie. Nowadays nonlinear narrative is often used just to puzzle and surprise the viewer. But "Lodo" (Mud) uses a particular, unique narrative to explore the functioning of human mind, and to describe the feelings and emotions within a human soul.

In addition, this film is far from being intellectual, which is quite common in unconventional films. The fresh, direct film structure goes right to your heart if you open your eyes and let the film go into your senses.

The way the film deals with the memories from childhood and teenage is also quite appealing and inspiring. In particular, when the teen girls meet in the beach, or when the brunette girl goes into the forest, are outstanding moments of the film.

The work of the lead actress is noteworthy, and contributes very much to the overall strength of the film.

I would suggest to film lovers to have an eye on this original film.

Intringuing and challenging

This is by far an unusual film. I found this work quite interesting and appealing. You can see from the very beginning that the movie is provoking in the viewer unusual feelings and sensations, rather than concrete thoughts. I wonder how the actors were directed, particularly Sandra that plays the main role. There are also some complex secondary characters that help to create a rich story. The film has a pretty amount of surreal elements, kinda visual description of the unconscious of the main role. The film was screened at NYCIFF where it was awarded with the Best Surreal Film award. I feel that the film deserved that recognition.
