Let's get the pro out of the way first

Warning: Spoilers
Can't believe my pro will be going to Aaron Rodgers! I tried watching Jeopardy when he was guest hosting and his delivery practically put me to sleep and I just couldn't watch the full two weeks of him guest hosting. I don't know how he did a better job on this show. I don't know anything about the guy so I'm not sure if he's had other acting credits or not. He might just be a better actor (even if he's playing himself) than a host. Go figure.

The rest of the episode boils down to dull or painful. Darlene finally made a decision on Hawaii. Too bad Molly didn't just give the tickets to Charlotte or is the series pretending Charlotte no longer exists along with her dad? We have more dull scenes of Darlene and Ben. Again, their storylines are dragging the show down.

Another plot featured Becky going to Mark's school to talk to his class about her addiction. Mark had another project planned but Becky talked him into her going to the school instead. I'm iffy on this scene. I can see not going into a classroom and spilling your guts to a bunch of kids. I can't help thinking of the serious talk Dan and Roseanne had towards Becky when she got drunk with Dana in the original "Roseanne". Maybe it makes sense to say things over the top instead of being level the way Dan and Roseanne talked to Becky about getting drunk.

The last point I want to talk about is Bev. YES! Bev briefly appeared on a video chat so at least the viewers know she's still alive. But exactly where is she? Did get into another rest home? Is she still at Jackie's house and she drove Jackie out of it? Anyway, I must admit I got a kick out of Bev's naked and afraid joke. That's about it. I go back to the original "Roseanne" and I think about Jackie and Bev. There were some jobs Jackie had that she disliked or even voiced flat out hatred for. I think she got by at Wellman's because she had Roseanne and her other friends to kid around with. Jackie HATED being the perfume sprayer at the mall. Jackie wanted to be a cop and enjoyed the job. Jackie wanted to be a truck driver and she enjoyed that job. Jackie enjoyed working at The Lunch Box. Yeah, Jackie had a lot of jobs but it was stuff she enjoyed. I realize Bev had more expectations towards Jackie. I think of that episode when Bev stuck her foot in her mouth with both Roseanne and Jackie. There's no worrying about Roseanne because we knew what she would turn out to be. But Jackie had this spark. Her father expected her to become a lawyer because she loved to argue so much. Well, sometimes a parent(s) dreams doesn't match up with what the child wants to grow up and be.

There were a lot of times I thought Roseanne and Jackie treated their mom like garbage. Not trying to paint Bev out to be a saint. I'm just saying that the welcome mat seemed to come out if they wanted something out of Bev.

Is Bev acting this cruelly because Jackie never married or had kids? Is this what makes Jackie to be a "failure"? Yeah, I realize that's a difficult one to say because if you're a fan of the original "Roseanne" you'd know that Jackie did get married to Fred and had a son named Andy. We know Andy got sucked into a black hole on this show and I guess Fred did as well? Which is a shame. I have no idea how the fandom felt about Fred but I enjoyed his character. And I'll say the same thing about him that I said about Mark (Glenn Quinn's Mark) in another review. If I had gotten married, I would've wanted a guy like Fred. He was a nice guy and I do think he cared about Jackie. I don't mind things being the same. I'm honestly the same way.

I realize Jackie in the original "Roseanne" even called herself a screw up. A lot of the things Bev said to Jackie honestly made me flinch and made me wonder why Jackie hasn't completely cut this Bev out of her life. What's making Bev go this vicious on Jackie?

Warning: Spoilers
Why is the whole Hawaii thing becoming such a big part of the show? It just seems odd.

Not a lot of laughs in this one. Hopefully the season finale delivers.
