- Robertson and Bennett follow the hitman's trail to Las Vegas, hoping to find a connection to Fowkkes' other clients. When Billets performs a security evaluation at a local jewelry shop, she gets more than she bargained for. Irving gives Bosch an order, causing Bosch to lose faith in the system he has defended his entire career.

Maddie polishes Harry's boots as they get ready to go to Donna Sobel's funeral. Harry comments about the in-congruent great California weather for such a sad day. Irving and Jun bring their baby home. Maddie and Harry chat with Donna's daughter, he women agree to have coffee sometime. On the drive home Harry reports Chandler is stable in the hospital but is still day-to-day.
Billets talks to a jewelry store owner, giving hits on CCTV and alarms. He offers her nice earrings for a good price, she demurs and leaves with a handshake.
Robertson shares his info on the hit man with Bennett, Kipps was ex-military who lived in Vegas. They will go to check his home.
Agent Reece gives Bosch info on Mickey Peña. The protected gangster has been buying rental properties preparing for a new life.
Grace gets a phone call, Marsha Macken wants to meet her after work. Irving gets briefed on the FBI file on Mayor Lopez. She took $150,000 from a union leader using a fake corporation. The FBI dropped it though.
Bennett and Robertson head out to Nevada, Bosch says to look up one of his contacts in the LVPD. Then Harry talks to Det Collins, he asks to have him set up a talk with Trejo and his lawyer.
After sunset Grace meets Marsha up at the Griffiths Observatory. Marsha is an IA Capt. And has bad news, Billets has a complaint filed against her for extortion by a civilian.
Harry listens to jazz at home. Maddie is packing, moving out to live with Antonio and take some time away from school and work. Harry is concerned but trusts her and accepts her decision.
At the shop Harry asks Crate and Barrel to try and find Pena using his credit card numbers. Then he gets the texts from Kipp's phone, with Jerry they see the last "it's done" message went to cell in LV. They suspect mobster Willy Datz.
Chief Irving meets with the Mayor and plays his cards, he wants another five year term, smirking as he leaves her office.
Sgt. Mank brings Billets the pers files on Norris and Leonard. Then Barrel comes in to say men in suits are looking at her car. In the parking lot a Lt Klotz and two other IA cops are turning out her trunk, they refuse to say why. They find a jewelry box with nice earrings, Billets denies it is hers.
Bosch and Edgar smolder in the car about Pena getting away, they stop at the apartment and notice the memorial flowers are gone.
Capt Cooper meets with Lt Billets. He explains the jewelry store owner claims she forced him to give her the earrings. Billets denies and says it is a setup. Cooper sends her home pending the investigation. On her way out she asks Det. Vega to look into the jewelry store owner.
Robertson and Bennett search Kipp's house in Vegas. They find a notebook with all the details of his murders for hire. The recent LA hits were arranged by Reason Fowkkes for Car Rogers. Jimmy calls Harry to update, Fowkkes had called Willy Datz to set up the hits.
Hector Hernandez is looking for Mickey Peña, a couple of gang heavies beat him with a baseball bat and boots.
The Irving's share champagne, Irv gives Jun the good news about his extension.
Antonio and Maddie settle in his flat, he gives her a key. They have Harry's dog Coltrane.
Vega calls Billets to report the jewelry store owner has a concealed-carry permit arranged by Cooper. However, he had been ordered to surrender his weapons after an assault charge against his wife. The next day Vega and Pierce raid the jewelry store, they find three handguns, a violation of his court order. Vega and Pierce will play good cop bad cop interviewing Patterson, the store owner.
Harry gets a call from StAgnes Hospital, Hernandez is there and a cop found Harry's business card, Harry gets up to go there.
Vega and Pierce quickly breakdown Patterson , who admits Cooper is an old frat buddy who had done favors for him over the years. Giving the earrings was a return, free of charge.
In the hospital a despondent Hernandez is in ICU, Bosch hears him out and promises to get justice for the man's wife and daughter. Bosch is summoned away by another call but leaves the cop photos of the Las Palmas 13 gang, maybe Hernandez can ID his assailants.
In Vegas a SWAT team enters Willy Datz' home, it is empty. Bennett finds a laptop open and sync'd with Datz' cell messages, they see he is in LA. Det. Iverson says to arrest him in LA to save him some paperwork.
Bosch meets with Irving, upset about Peña, the Chief won't help. The talk becomes heated, Bosch hits a nerve and Irving curses and kicks him out of his office. Bosch asks Edgar to look after Datz while Harry works on a work-around. Edgar and Pierce arrest Datz outside Musso & Frank Grill.
Bosch shows Trejo the photo proof on Peña meeting the FBI. Trejo is upset. Datz is upset at Hollywood Station. Norris, Leonard and Cooper are taken away in handcuffs. A DA meets with Bosch and Trejo's lawyer, even his testimony against Peña may not be enough, but he'll think about it.
Back at home Harry spins more jazz vinyl, has a Flat Tire beer and turns the lights out in Maddie's empty bedroom. In the field, Det Collins gets orders coming from Irving to lay off the Las Palmas 13 gang, he calls Bosch to let him know. Harry sighs and tosses his phone down.
